Jenny is the absolute best! No one has cut my hair expect for me for over 5 years and I could literally not be happier with my new cut! She also helped me understand my hair type better and how to care for and style it. Her salon in Ravenswood is such an inviting space and her dog is adorable. 11/10 could not recommend her enough!!

Jenny has been the only person to touch my hair for almost 10 years, and I’ve left happy every time. The new space is so calm, cozy, open, and filled with sunshine. Also have to mention that she’s hilarious, and Karl is the pup of the space that’s full of character.

I love Jenny! My cuts from her always get compliments. She’s great at helping you figure out what will work with your hair, and won’t try to upsell you if you’re looking for something simple. She’s also down-to-earth and fun to hang with! Five stars!

I wasn't sure if I would be able to write a 2nd review for Jen or if Google would let me update/add on to my first review. I'm back to say that Jen has consistently given me the BEST haircuts, best color, and best bangs of my life! I haven't gotten my hair colored in a while, but this most recent hair cut she gave me is incredible. She took into consideration, as always, my lifestyle, my hair type/texture, my overall wants/needs... and she gave me this killer hair cut that not only looks cute and incredible if I just blow dry it quickly with my fingers (it lays beautifully and is super flattering).... but, she showed me how to style it pretty easily with a straightener to give it a really textered/wavy/cool look that I am able to do on my own! I always follow her product recommendations and they always are perfect. Jen cuts the BEST bangs out there. Seriously. Okay, if you are looking for a new stylist-- give her a chance. You won't regret it!!

I've been seeing JMizHair for over 1 year and she's been great. Brown gals know what a a slippery slope it is to brass town / turning red and orange if you work with someone who's not skilled with color and lightening dark hair. Jenny's got great technique and uses Davines products that don't fry my hair. She's also the only colorist who's ever talked me through what maintenance looks like for different looks which blew my mind during our consult (where has this been in my life of 15 yrs of color??), - she explains everything thoroughly and I keep a low maintenance look because she's so good!

Jenny is A++ (second plus is intentional). In the past I went to a Hair Cuttery and a masculine-forward barbershop for hair cuts, and they were perfectly fine. But I wanted a change without having a clue what I actually wanted and having an infant’s knowledge of basic hair care. She is the coolest guide to healthy hair without any pretension, and I have never gotten more compliments about my hair. No matter how absolutely vague of an idea I show up with, she works with that suggestion and makes me look good. Definitely one of the few things that I think is worth every bit of it and more

At first I wasn't going to bother posting but after receiving feedback from other vendors I use that utilize Vagaro, and also reading the posts of others and comparing the discrepancy in treatment I feel compelled. I found this salon on Strands for Trans. I had used services similar in the past designed to help Trans people connect with Trans friendly businesses, as it can be a challenge. Jen seemed confident, though I have no real salon experience to compare to. Reading all the reviews commending professionalism, however, professionalism is something I know a thing or two about and my experience was not of that. What is causing me to write this review is the fact I scheduled an appointment with Jen 3 months out. A week prior to my appointment, my appointment time is changed to an earlier time, with zero communication from Jen. I waited a few days after receiving the notification from Vagaro, regarding the change and regarding Jen's vacation. It would appear my appointment time conflicted with a vacation Jen was scheduling for herself. Days go by and no communication from Jen. Unfortunately, I experienced a life emergency that was both disruptive and financially cumbersome. Given Jen appeared to communicate to me that she wanted to start her vacation early, and the fact I still had zero communication from her about the switch, on the day of the appointment I sent her a message asking if it'd be more appropriate to reschedule as I, too, had had something come up. Jen responded by canceling my appointment (when I hadn't explicitly stated I was canceling), and stated I'd be charged a fee. She also began to criticize me, personally. When I expressed the boundary of A. Do not speak to me like that, and B. You changed my appointment without my consent or letting me know, Jen proceeded to blame it on a "glitch" within Vagaro, and fired me as a client. I've been utilizing Vagaro with a variety of vendors for my transition for almost two years and feedback I've received from them is that the type of "glitch" I am describing, supported by the texts directly from Vagaro, is highly suspect as a "glitch" at all. Thanks Jen for holding my hair coloring hostage for 7 months and wasting a ton of money and time. I see you only cared about maintaining a business relationship with a Trans person long enough to sell them expensive products. But when they won't accept sub par treatment, and general lack of human decency, you fire them. My only reason for contacting you was to consider that rescheduling was perhaps mutually beneficial given your decision to change our appointment time without consent or notice. As a Trans woman seeing the majority of cis humans posting about the positive professional experience Jen provided, I am left to wonder what is different about me... 🤔 Edit: Jen I have the text messages. You didn't gently fire anyone. I texted you a few hours before our appointment to see if you'd like to reschedule for the reasons stated above. You didn't indicate I was fired. You stated you canceled my appointment, and I'd be charged a fee. I responded "I can still make the appointment" to which you began to criticize me personally. Again, I have the text messages. You can lie on here but I'll gladly provide to Vagaro or Google, or anyone for that matter. Had it really been a problem with Vagaro, I do not see why once you communicated that and I stated "ok see you at our time" why you did not cease communication. It was you who attacked me personally. I cannot control the life event that occurred. These things happen to human beings. I am not quite sure why that is difficult for you to understand. Again. You are the one who made it personal.

Great visit with Jenny! She listened to my concerns and gave feedback on her ideas to meet my needs. Results were great...highly recommend her! (Also, she has a fun and friendly personality...made me feel at ease from moment one!)

I cannot say enough good about my time in Jenny’s chair. I first came to Jenny as a scared college kid needing her hair fixed but too scared of harsh comments while in the chair. I’m so glad i found Jenny. I have never met another stylist who takes continuing education and growth more seriously. Whether it is coloring services, cutting services, and even trauma informed client care regarding hair related triggers. Every time I sit in her chair I leave feeling like my hottest self and I feel like I just spent quality time with a quality friend.

I have been going to the same stylist for over 10 years, but when I was looking to change things up a bit with my hair and add some fun color - it was not her area of expertise so it was time to begin my search for another stylist. Thanks to a recommendation, I ended up in Jenny's chair. She does a fantastic job of listening to what you want, explaining what it will take to make it happen and how it will transition over time. As much as I was anxious to get the color done on my first visit, I super appreciate Jenny taking the time to do an initial consultation to manage expectations and make sure we both had a clear vision. Love the end results!

I will be going back to Jenny! For our first appointment she asked questions to understand my relationship with my hair and day-to-day treatment, and the cut itself is exactly what I wanted. I have curly hair too and have been very particular about stylists in the past.

Jennifer has long been my hairstylist. She is so very attuned to my Mod influenced, vintage cut and this most recent cut was a new evolution in bringing her expert training and keen intuition to create a look that gives me confidence and comfort in public and also when I casually glance in the mirror. Jennifer is absolutely wonderful. She is thoughtful and considerate when listening to what you'd like to do with your hair. Personally, I tend to get haircuts pretty infrequently and don't really "do" anything with my hair, but Jennifer is super accommodating. I always leave feeling very positively about my cut. She also frequently updates her schedule with her openings which is perfect for a person like me. Can't recommend enough!

I've been going to Jennifer for a few years now and she is truly amazing! Even if I'm not sure what I really want Jennifer gets it right every time. She does everything from simple cuts and color to fashion colors and unique cuts and everything in between. She is also amazing with curly hair which is not easy to find. Really whatever you are looking for Jennifer can do it and she is genuinely a great person. UPDATE: I just wanted to add that not only does Jenny always make my hair look and feel amazing but she has also been a lifesaver for my daughter's hair. My 9 year old had a lot of chlorine damage and it got to the point where we could barely brush it. Jenny took the time (and it was a lot of time) to help repair some of the damage and get us to a point where her hair is now manageable. She was able to explain what happened to her hair and how to prevent it from getting like that again. There are no more tears when brushing any more!

Jennifer is amazing! I can never find the right words to explain what I want, and I'm also still feeling extremely awkward after not being out much during the pandemic, but she made me feel comfortable and patiently worked with me to understand what I was looking for. The studio feels comfortable and inclusive and they do a great job of sanitizing and taking covid precautions seriously.

I can't tell you how much I love Jenny. I'm not someone who spends a lot of time on my hair, and Jenny has always worked with me, so I end up with cuts that actually look cute once I get my hands on it. She gave me my first pixie, which became my signature style for a few years. Now I'm moving to a bob, and growing it out with Jenny has been awesome, no awkward phases at all! Jenny always works with me, always listening to what my habits and wants are. She is a true collaborator, and this relationship has allowed me to have hair I thought (or had been told) was out of reach. Thank you Jenny!

Jennifer really is awesome and I really lucked out finding her! I began going to her years ago when I did a HUGE chop from mid-back length hair to a pixie cut. She was the only person I trusted to help me have fun with the shorter length. She did a stellar job collaborating with me with many different styles before I decided to grow things out. Now that I have tons of length back, she’s helping me with my new hair goals. Jennifer is a pleasure to chat with and is so knowledgeable. I don’t want anyone else to touch my hair.

Jenny works magic on my hairs. Like, my hair looks amazing right out of the shower, when I get out of bed in the morning, after wearing a hat. If I style it, it looks even MORE amazing. Magic! Plus she's fun to talk to, which is kind of important if someone's going to be working on your noggin for 45 minutes.
