I have never wrote a negative review on Yelp before, but my experience warranted a response... I got my hair cut for the first time ever at The Establishment, and then left the salon for a color appointment across town (I wasn't able to be seen for a cut and color on the same day at the same place). When I arrived to my second hair appointment, I noticed my hair was uneven, so the stylist at the second location straightened my hair only to find how uneven and completely botched the original hair cut was. Thankfully he agreed to fix it. I have never had such an egregiously bad hair cut in my life. It was completely uneven and several chunks of hair were missed. I called the Establishment for a refund and they refused because "I didn't let them fix the hair cut". I don't know who in there right mind would want to return to a salon who completely botched their haircut, let alone put the the time and inconvenience on the customer to drive back across town to get it fixed. I am floored that they didn't just completely refund me given how bad the cut was (and I had the evidence to prove it). I had to get 2 haircuts in the same day, and cut my hair substantially shorter than I wanted given the second stylist had to fix what the first one did. This is a customer-service job, and I find it absolutely appalling the owners didn't immediately refund me. Let this serve as a warning to potential future customers. I wasted $130 on a botched hair cut. I will NEVER return to the Establishment again. EDIT: And to your response that this wasn't taken at your studio - that is absolutely correct. It was taken at Spoke And Weal, where I got my hair cut fixed per the botch job at your salon. Truly ridiculous response.

There is a coffee shop next door to the salon as well to sit and relax . Thank you Wesley for a haircut that fit my life style.

I loved my hair cut + style with Francesca! She listened to my concerns and did exactly what I wanted. She made my hair look so nice with beachy waves that I'm coming back just to have her teach me how to do my own hair 😂 Thanks Francesca!

I needed a last minute cut & color on a Monday. Knowing I love Aveda products and Aveda salons, I booked an appointment with Ashleigh at The Establishment. What a lovely and perfect experience! Beyond being such a welcoming and warm person (who really listens and offers thoughtful ideas), she is a genius stylist. The whole salon was a calm oasis including the front desk coordinator and other employees at the salon. Thank you, Ashleigh & Team! Xoxo!

Francesca has been doing my hair for about 2 years now. She is always super sweet and professional and I always look forward to sitting in her chair. She always makes me feel and look amazing! Can’t recommend her enough! She also gives the best head massages that just might make you fall asleep!

Kendall did a magical job on my hair. I went in unsure of how best to deal with my grays. Kendall knew just what to do by blending in some strategically placed highlights. The end result is so natural and flattering. I love it! Plus, Kendall is an absolute delight. She exudes positive vibes and she's the real deal — total expert at her craft. Highly recommend!

Love this spot! My tips: grab a coffee next door while your color is processing and book with Francesca! She did my color (red) and curly cut. She’s a great listener and has incredible attention to detail!

What a lovely experience. Francesca set me up with a gorgeous perm, the front-of-house staff was welcoming and gracious, cozy vibes, happy plants, and delicious beverages/snacks next door as you please. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Will return - definitely recommend.

Kendall is amazing!!! She's made all my hair color dreams come true (and there have been a LOT), takes her time with consults making sure we are on the same page (and teaches me the actual terms for what I'm trying to ask for), and is a great hang. I always leave her feeling stuuuuunning.

Francesca did my highlights and she did a phenomenal job. She listened to exactly what I wanted and even gave me tips on how to style my curly hair. Shes also gives a really relaxing head massage and is super sweet!

I called in and was able to schedule a same day appointment with Ashleigh for a hair cut/styled. She did an AMAZING job!!! Friendly, patient with requests and really wants you to love the hair you leave with. She’s very very talented!! Loved the consultation we had before she started working on my hair. Will be coming back. Also, Dan at the front desk was so helpful and kind!

I look forward to getting my hair done so much because of going to The Establishment Salon. My colorist, @kendallheartbeauty, is the best! I feel like I can say that having moved over 13 times all over the country experiencing lots of different salons, and because I've been getting highlights for four decades. Yes, I remember when they used to pull your hair through a rubber cap! Don't be turned off by that though and think that this is your mother's hair salon only! The Establishment Salon has clients of all ages. In fact, I learned about them from my daughter-in-law. Young or old and whatever hair style or color of the rainbow or natural shade suits you (check out Kendall's Instagram feed to see how talented she is!), this is The Salon you're looking for. There's also a new coffee shop that shares the lobby area with the salon. Besides a glass of champagne, what more could you ask for when you're taking the time to take care of yourself?!

I've had 2 fantastic color experiences here. It seems like everyone is experienced. I've had a couple salon disasters in my past, so I'm glad I found a place where I feel like I'm always in good hands. Most recently Roxanne did my balayage and it looks great!

had a wonderful first time experience at The Establishment today. the salon is beautiful and staff is super friendly. got a wavy/curly cut from francesca who took time to get to know my hair type and hair goals. she helped me understand how to achieve the style i was looking for and how to take care of my hair. would recommend!!

I have been going to The Establishment for at least 10 yrs. It is an Aveda Salon so they are great w color! It has always been a good experience. They completely redesigned the studio during the pandemic, and it is so open and airy now. And the sinks are adjustable, so no more neck strain!!

I went to this salon to get colorful highlights for my 10 year wedding anniversary. I went to Stefano who seems lovely but long story short I was not completely satisfied with the result. The receptionist told me after the appointment that I should pay and that the next day someone who be in touch. I wrote an email to the management and called the salon in the morning to follow up as I was pretty distressed having the event coming up in just a few days with hair I was not happy with By mid day no one had replied so I called again. I was polite and calm on the phone but the receptionist actually hung up on me. I’ve never actually encountered such rude behavior from a professional establishment. Especially after spending over $400 on the services rendered plus a lot of time I would expect that someone would at least speak to me about how to resolve this situation in a timely manner. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the salon. It’s really a double insult to walk away unsatisfied and also be treated disrespectfully by the staff. :(

Worst haircut and dye I’ve ever had. $600 and went home to cry. If you have simple hair it’s fine but anything thick or complicated is a no go.

I had an appointment yesterday and I had told them I am coming from the airport and I have had a delay - if they could move me or else I will cancel too. They said they can’t move it but they’ll accommodate me and I can keep them in the loop. I kept them posted, dropped my stuff over and rushed to them - I was given them final cut off time to be 4:50 and I said okay I will be there - to quote what I was told “if you can get here by 4:50 it’s fine but after that out stylist will not be cutting your hair” - I got there exact 4:50 and they said since it’s on the dot 4:50 she will not be cutting your hair, if you were just a minute earlier we would have. I still requested that they see me, that I was here by the time I was told I could and he said no she already started packing. My appointment was 1.30 hrs, I was confused why I still couldn’t get the service at least even if I pay late fee. I still paid the charges of the appt, got no service despite being a repeat customer. I was extremely disappointed. I wouldn’t have been upset over it if it wasn’t unfair - I think it was an obvious elephant in the room that what they’re doing is wrong. Never going back here - don’t want to work with people who can’t value their clients.

This is the first time I’ve had a haircut, and LOVED IT immediately after having it cut. For me, there is usually an adjustment phase for about a week or so, BUT not after my haircut today. Jazzy did such a wonderful job! I felt so confident walking home. 😅

This was the first salon I tried when I moved to LA. I've had every appointment with Roxanne and she's always done a wonderful job. However, when she didn't have availability before Halloween, I booked with Stefano. Stefano is $50 more than Roxanne for partial highlights, so I expected excellent service. I got a call 20 minutes before my appointment time (4pm) saying that he was running behind with another client and would be about 20 minutes late. Not the end of the world, it happens. However, my service didn't begin until 5:10pm. Also, the color wasn't matched properly because a week after getting it done, there is a clear difference between the new growth that he colored and the color of the rest of my hair (picture attached). Roxanne always matched the color perfectly, so it's hard to justify paying $50 more. I thought they might offer some sort of discount for wasting over an hour of my time, but I still paid full price. I didn't say anything in the moment because I was already running late to class. But it's one thing to wait that long, and another to not be happy with the results. I'm writing this in hopes that the salon will reach out and make it right.

Today I got the most life changing and most amazing haircut and blowout with hairstylist Evan. He's such a wonderful and talented hairstylist. I NEVER cut my hair, so I was nervous but I knew if I had to, I had to come see Evan as I trust him since I've worked with him before. My haircut is exactly what I wanted, I loved every suggestion he made and how communicative he is. He's an excellent professional and always great to talk to. I love my hair and my new look. I know I'll never get my hair cut by anyone else.
