My husband and I went for a couples massage. The service from check in to the massage was professional and kind. Everything was clean and tidy. My massage was done by Joao and he was great. Pressure was good throughout. I felt comfortable the whole time. My husband had Kerry ann and he was happy with her as well. We look forward to returning in the future.

I connected with the the director at the Fountain and this issue has been resolved. I'm updating my review to reflect this. --- So bummed to see the poor service of this place. I had a membership there which was canceled because they did away with the program. I was never notified that the massages were expired- in fact, when I had my second to last one, I was specifically told there was no expiration date. When I went to book my massage just now they told me it expired (days ago mind you). Very unfortunate to see that they would treat their loyal customers this way. No email, no notification - this is a poor practice.

Disappointing Decline at Fountain Spa After 20+ Years I’ve been a loyal client of Fountain Spa for over 20 years, but my most recent visit left me deeply disappointed. This spa, which I once considered a sanctuary, has declined significantly in quality and service. Check-In and Initial Experience Upon arrival, the receptionist asked if it was my first time there—a surprising question considering my decades-long patronage. My information should have been in their system. At check-in, there was no attendant to hand out robes and shoes, leaving us waiting for 5-10 minutes and cutting into my sauna time. Once I made it to the ladies’ lounge, I was shocked to find it packed with approximately 50 women, leaving no room to change or access a locker. I had to wait for others to clear out before I could even start getting situated. I understand it’s a holiday weekend, but a spa of this caliber should have a lounge that can comfortably accommodate its clientele, not one that feels cramped and chaotic. To make matters worse, I witnessed a serious security lapse. An attendant mistakenly opened a locker for someone who couldn’t remember their number, only to find it contained another person’s belongings. This kind of mishap is alarming and could lead to theft or other issues. The Services My sauna session was brief due to earlier delays, and when I went to grab water and fruit before my massage, I found no fruit options—just protein bars and yogurt. Not ideal, especially since I avoid gluten and was counting on their usual offerings. The massage itself was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The therapist seemed untrained, aimlessly applying lotion and oils without any pressure or focus. It felt rushed and completely ineffective—certainly not worth the price. Thankfully, my facial was decent. The esthetician was knowledgeable, and I’ve had her before, so this part of the experience met my expectations. Customer Service The front desk staff capped off my disappointing visit with poor customer service. The young woman assisting me lacked courtesy, didn’t smile, and barely engaged with me, even after I wished her a Happy New Year. For a spa where I regularly spend $300-$500 per visit (including tips), I expect a much higher level of professionalism and warmth. Final Thoughts Fountain Spa is no longer the luxurious retreat it once was. From inadequate facilities to subpar services and indifferent staff, this place has lost its charm and value. For the price, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Save your time and money. Fountain Spa isn’t what it used to be.

Disappointing they don’t do gift certificates anymore to specific services. Literally why I wouldn’t purchase a gift from here otherwise I was ready to spend $500. I just don’t want the recipient to know what my total spend was for that service. Used to do it. Ladies told me they don’t anymore. Huge. Mistake

The most rude staff. Extremely disrespectful. Extremely disappointing experience. My mother, sister, and I have been coming here for years but will never step into this establishment again. The staff disrespected my sister. We spoke to the managers and one of them had their arms crossed and was just outright rude and lacked empathy. Emailed customer service but of course no response. We left feeling anxious and horrible instead of relaxed.

The reason why I give a 3 star is for the massage I received. For a nice, clean and luxurious spa, I expected a better massage than the one I have received. The lady rushed me throughout the entire process, bumped into the table constantly, made noise while getting oil etc. it was very unprofessional. I get massages at least once every month and I couldn’t wait to try this place out but, unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected. When I went to pay at the front desk (on the right side), I let the receptionist know that I wasn’t satisfied and to let a manager know. Her reply was “ok I will add a note with her name so you won’t get her again”. How is she so sure I will come back after this experience?! Not a single care was shown by her. She asked if I wanted to leave tip. Of course, I left 20% tip for the lady’s time, but I would not go back again to pay so much and receive a massage that my child would do a better job on. Overall: The place is clean and relaxing The check in was great (left side) the girl was super welcoming, friendly and warm The lady that took me to the whirlpool was very nice and welcoming as well The massage itself - not pleasant at all! This is my third time at Fountain Spa and Lucas just gave me a Swedish massage. It felt like a dream. The knots I had were all relieved, I felt so relaxed the entire time. From the heated massage bed, to the essential oils…everything was perfect. Can’t wait to go back.

At the time of booking my appointment the fountain did not increase there prices the date of service Sunday my sister and I arrived the front desk attendant whispered to my sister and I a slight increase we looked at our voucher it was a $ 40.00 increase in service each. Management from the day the service was booked never reached out to give advance notice. I reached out twice on Monday to speak to management never received a returned phone call or email the Manager on duty took my message and stated she will relate my message to the manager and Director them act of communication and not even to return a customers call shows lack of management skills I would not return or recommend The Fountain.

I come to the spa monthly for a Sweedish Massage. Approximately 2-3 months ago I was informed customers would no longer earn points to be used towards the services at the spa. Then when I came in for my November appointment I am informed the prices have gone up. There was no prior notification. It appears The Fountain Spa is taking their customers for granted. Strangely enough after leaving the Spa, I purchased makeup at a cosmetic store where the store clerk informed me I had enough points to receive a free gift. I appreciated the customer service at the Cosmetic store. The Fountain Spa needs improvement regarding customer service. Appreciation goes a long way in this economy.

I don't understand the negative reviews for this place. I went for a side by side massage... it was exactly 50 minutes. Time flew by. When you check in they give you a robe and slippers. I suggest taking facial products to put on after your service. Can the locker rooms and tranquility room be updated? Yes.. but I don't understand why people said it was dirty. It was clean. I think it was fine for the price paid.

My pedicure with Natalie was 10 stars! Now to explain the 3 star review. I walked in hoping to have an amazing spa experience based on what I had seen on the website. Instead, I was checked in and told “you Can go wait in the nail room” I had never been here before. I don’t even know the name of the desk attendant because she didn’t greet me with it and I was too put off to look at her name tag. There was no one else waiting to be checked in. Instead of perhaps showing me the way to the nail Room and maybe explaining some of the facilities she just said “it’s down the hall” When I found the nail room there was no one visible there. I had arrived early to experience some of the amenities. Someone on the floor let me know where the tranquil room was and I went and made a cup of tea while waiting. I suppose since I was only there for a pedicure is the reason why I wasn’t shown the amenities such as the steam rooms and showers. And why I wasn’t offered a robe. It was my birthday and I was hoping for a mini spa day. Your desk attendants set the tone for the day. They should be more pleasant, upbeat and willing to at least stand up My pedicure was awesome and I will be back to see Natalie.

A day that should’ve been special at the fountain day spa with my mother for a day of massages turned out to be a true disappointment. One hour massages for each of us, they overlooked massaging our feet and hips when told there response was the massage is over. Being frequent client's of the fountain day spa we have never experienced such poor services.

Had an amazing and relaxing spa day here. Don’t believe the negative reviews, try it for yourself. I got a massage, facial and pedicure and each provider was kind, attentive and professional. They did well to create a relaxing atmosphere, and provide teas, water and some snacks. The service rooms themselves are clean and secluded, leading to a comfortable experience. The bathrooms are a bit dated though, and the pedicure chair armrests could use a cleaning. Otherwise, excellent, with fair prices. Will return!!!

I really wanted to like this place. I received LCN nails recently. The nail extensions were filed down so flat that they were almost brittle and 2 snapped right off the next day for $125. I would expect much better quality.

I’ve been coming to The Fountain Spa in Hackensack for massages, and I always make sure to book with Jill. She is absolutely fantastic! Every time I leave, I feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Jill has a great technique, listens to my needs, and always ensures that the experience is perfect. I highly recommend her if you're looking for a skilled and professional masseuse who really knows how to make you feel your best. Thank you, Jill, for always providing such a great experience!

The facility is beautifully designed and the masseuse are good but the front desk staff, particularly a staffer named Kayla was absolutely terrible! Extremely rude and very nasty. I was expecting leave feeling relaxed and recharged. Instead, she made me angry and upset. If I patronize the Fountain Spa again, it won’t be that location.

I came for a swedish massage. the masseuse was amazing (Lysiane) and i would give her 5 stars. i felt so relaxed and she was very calming, thorough, and professional. The reason im giving it 3 stars is because the bathroom not only desperately needs an upgrade, but it is not clean! i wanted to use the steam room but felt uncomfortable due to the fact that the toilet area of the bathroom was full of dust blobs, had a couple flies, ceiling tiles missing and its just crazy when u come out of this luxurious experience from the massage and enter this dungy gross restroom. made me feel like the steam room probably also was never cleaned so i didnt even enter it. Doesnt pass the vibe test for me. other than that, the desk ladies and hospitality lady were all very kind and helpful

I received the most amazing swedish massage. Renato was amazing, skilled and knows how to really give someone a massage!!! Camille at the front desk was very welcoming. Getting here was tricky but the lady who answered the phone was very helpful and nice on instructions. Will come back again

The policy regarding lost certificates makes absolutely no sense. In December 2022 I purchased two gift certificates totaling about $400. One of the recipients misplaced their gift cards and asked if I could obtain another. I contacted The Fountain and spoke with a representative who was able to see the unused gift card and informed me that all I had to do was to come in and provide identification in order to obtain a replacement. When I reported to the spa, I was told that I needed to provide a copy of my bank statement or provide the receipt in order to be issued a replacement. I uncertain whether or not I paid using cash. At any rate, I was told that this was the companies policy and am basically being forced to forfeit the gift card. I am extremely dissatisfied in the quality of service provided by the Fountain and would Hate for this to happen to anyone else.

This is barely a spa. It's hardly even relaxing. Good thing we had a gift card because if I had paid the astronomical prices they charge out of my pocket I'd be even more upset. The men's locker room had toilet paper on the floor, water stains all throughout the ceiling tiles and wall, and the shower had brown spots on the tile. Is this room cleaned once a week? 8 out of the 15 lockers were out of order so I'm guessing they don't expect many men to come here. The waiting area is wide open, full of outdated furniture like wicker chairs and fake flowers you'd find at the dollar store. It's extremely too bright and and resembles an office waiting room instead of somewhere to relax and get in the mood for a massage. The carpet was filthy, stained, and looks like it hadn't been cleaned EVER. Cob webs in the high hat lighting added along with the large window facing the parking garage. So relaxing. The massage was decent but felt rushed. We were never even asked any problem spots, we had to tell them ourselves. That was after the "aromatherapy" upsales pitch. Sorry but trying to be sold products as youre walking in for a massage is not relaxing, its insulting...do it ahead of time. I ordered a deep tissue massage and was barely gone over with any pressure. It was mostly just oily hands fastly rubbing up and down my skin. I'm still in pain after today, not a single kink was worked out. The speaker in the room was also blowing out, so this loud fuzzy crackling noise was really putting me out of the mood. When it was over, there's really nowhere else to go, nothing else to enjoy. The place is dated and whomever owns this establishment is extremely cheap. The place needs to be brought into the 21st century. It's a shame people spend so much money for mediocrity. I've been to WAY better places, actual spas, and half the cost. Will never go back nor recommend The Fountain to anyone.

Mediocre. For the sake of clarity, I love going to the spa. I love the experience. I’ve been to many. This was my first time at The Fountain in Hackensack. It’s a beautiful space. I arrived to my appointment at the Fountain early as instructed, but my service felt rushed. I think it even ended 10 minutes early. I had the vitamin C facial. Honestly, I’ve had a much better facials at other spas. The amenities are very nice here, but the facial was just average. The vitamin C facial was not worth the money.
