I've loved getting my haircut by Jazz! I was referred to her by a good friend of mine and have so appreciated how generous she is with her time, and really listens to what you want out of your cut. I'm currently growing out a short cut, and while I was expecting the process to feel super awkward, Jazz's cuts have kept me feeling cute the whole time. I also really appreciate the products that are used - I'm super sensitive and we've been able to find products for me to use both at the salon and at home that have improved the health of my hair SO much. Highly recommend!!

i followed jazz from another studio to this one. the proximity to powell’s doesn’t hurt one bit. 🙃 she is phenomenal. she’ll work extensively with you to figure out what you want, and she has a very genuine approach where she’ll ask how you’re feeling about your hair throughout the appt and do everything she can to 1) make sure you feel comfortable giving honest feedback, and 2) use that feedback to make sure you leave with the cut of your dreams. i went in without a super solid idea of what i wanted, but we scrolled through some inspo together and landed on a cut i felt good about. the cut itself was a subtle change for me, nothing drastic, but my god my hair has sat PERFECTLY ever since. it is somehow both zero maintenance and beautiful 😭 i’m so happy. go see jazz!!! she rules.

Jazz is a great hair stylist and has been giving me haircuts for quite some time now. Jazz has always been very welcoming, paying attention to detail and willing to go the extra mile to make you happy and satisfied with your hair. The studio is also a very calm and comfortable place. I strongly recommend!

Hideout Hair Studio is an absolute gem! Jazz was incredible—she truly listened to my concerns and took the time to assess and diagnose my hair. Her knowledge and recommendations were tailored perfectly to my hair type, and I left feeling confident and well-informed about how to care for it moving forward. The studio itself is stunning—such a beautiful, safe, and vibey space that immediately puts you at ease.

Jazz gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve had in years. She listens carefully, takes her time to understand, made some recommendations and totally nailed it in giving me exactly what I wanted (along with a ton of great advice on how to work with my hair and ideas for the future). She’s an expert at creating low maintenance cuts that look amazing. I don’t live locally but am going to make a point to come back to see her. Highly recommend!

This is the cutest little hideaway salon and Jazz is an amazing stylist! I can’t recommend her enough. I get so many compliments on the bob and it always grows out so nicely. 10/10, will return again soon!!

Jazz is the only hairstylist in Portland that I’ve stuck with long term, and I’ve lived here for 15 years! She is a great listener, is professional but personable, and I never find any weird issues with my hair when I get home. It’s always what I ask for!

Jazz is incredible! She’s so good at what she does! I got a shag haircut from her. I get soooo many compliments on my hair! The grow out on her haircuts is also fantastic! She does excellent low-maintenance haircuts that look effortlessly chic! The studio space is also so welcoming and comfortable! Jazz is super friendly and it’s just an all around great experience at her salon! I recommend her to all of my friends!

Put simply, Jazz is a delight! She thoroughly takes the time to understand what you’re looking for in your haircut, and delivers! The salon is inviting and laid back. I am looking forward to hanging out here for future cuts!

The Hideout came up on my IG feed and I’m SO glad it did!! I am three weeks into the razor cut French bob Jazz gave me and it still looks as good a it did when I walked out of the studio. The studio space is lovely and Jazz is warm and welcoming. I also love the products she used. I’ll definitely be back!! Highly recommend.

Jazz gave me the perfect haircut-- one of the few in my life where the stylist clearly understood how to give an individualized cut based on the client's hair texture and natural shape as well as their preferences. It's low maintenance and exactly what I was looking for. Her new spot at the Hideout is beautiful, looking forward to more visits there!

The Hideout is a beautiful and comfortable space, truly an excellent choice for hair care services. I love that Jazz has paid such attention to detail in selecting the products used here & created a unique and relaxing experience of receiving hair services. As a barber, Jazz has been awesome in helping me find a personal style that I enjoy and teaching me best practices for styling. Could not recommend more highly!

best hairstylist i’ve had! i get so many compliments on my hair. i need a low maintenance style, which is hard to get when you have my hair texture. jazz delivers every time. i can let my hair air dry (see picture) and it looks just how i want. she’s also cut my partner’s hair, and it was hands down the best cut he’s ever had! the space at hideout is cute and airy. love!! i highly highly recommend this sweet little studio and jazz’s magic.

wow - Jazz is fantastic. i’m a 52 yo woman, and i’ve rarely encountered such talent. for my first visit with Jazz, she worked magic on a random cut gone wrong a few weeks earlier. when i was ready for a fresh cut, my next visit was another awesome experience with Jazz. she listens and has the skills to deliver - she’s a real artist. her hideout space is super cool and inviting. her care and creativity are evident in the details, all around. total respect. go see Jazz! p.s. i’ve got a short cut, off the face, bordering on pixie; and i’m super picky. ;-)

I absolutely loved Hideout! This was my first time coming to the salon and it was absolutely wonderful. Parking was easy; location is a beautiful building downtown from the 20s. The space felt elegant and soothing. Jazz’s styling is my favorite in Portland. I walked in feeling unhappy with my bangs but left feeling refreshed and confident. Highly recommend!

Jazz has cut my hair a few times, and I've always been happy with the results! She helped me find a style that maximizes my natural curl pattern and allows me to get a styled look even when I air dry.

Jazz is incredibly talented and kind. I moved out of Portland, but each time I visit I’ll use my limited time to make an appointment with Jazz. The haircuts I received were the absolute best! I’ve never left a salon so happy.

Ohmiigosh! Where to begin. I originally went in asking for layers and a trim (curly haircut) Jazz had other plans in mind. I’m so happy I decided to trust her vision! She definitely knows what she’s doing! And her sidekick, Susie! Give her a raise! ✨ Overall, I am so pleased with the end results. The space she has created is so warm, and welcoming. I’m happy I decided to book a last minute appointment with her. I will definitely be back! I believe I’ve found myself a hairstylist finally! :) thank you, Jazz ❤️

The hideout is exceptionally peaceful and welcoming. Jazz is highly skilled with her cuts and takes time to listen and understand what you’re looking for. The smaller, intentional space made me feel taken care of and not over stimulated. I can’t say enough positive things about Jazz and the space!

Jazz is THE BEST! I grew out my hair for the first time and wanted to keep it long and masculine but was anxious about getting it cut and someone messing it up. Jazz went above and beyond to explain my hair texture, hair care, and what style would work well for me. And the cut is so good! If you go to Jazz you’ll be in good hands. And her studio has such good vibes, there’s cool art, plants everywhere, local products. Honestly it was just a great time all around. 10/10
