I went here with super damaged and compromised hair, was feeling pretty insecure about it and wasn’t sure what next steps I should take, I met with Hailey and she was absolutely amazing! As someone who also has extremely sensitive skin and scalp going to a salon can be tough but she was so patient and gentle!! Not only a great person to talk to, she makes you feel so confident and completely changed my hair! I feel so happy and surprised how much she did to it, really an artist at her work! Highly recommend coming here if you want an aesthetic and safe place to enjoy the self care that is getting your hair done!! :)

Haley is such a kind soul & does a wonderful job of making clients feel seen, heard, comfortable, and relaxed! She also gave me the best haircut of my life! Would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a hairstylist who is knowledgeable, accessible, and respectful!

I had an incredible visit at The Mae on Saturday. I haven't colored my hair in a very long time and I was feeling uncertain about whether or not I wanted to take the plunge and add some subtle, lived-in balayage highlights. (For context, I have been thinking of coloring my hair since July and finally committed to an appointment in January.) I did a bunch of research to find a salon with stylists who I thought would be able to achieve the look I wanted. I am so happy I went to The Mae! Now I have a stylist who achieved the color I wanted flawlessly AND gave me a great haircut. Not to mention, the staff were so friendly and the enviornment is top notch. I look forward to my next service!

My first visit to the Mae Salon, following my stylist as she moved from another location, was great. It can be challenging to go to a new salon and try it out, but I felt comfortable from the start, knowing and trusting my stylist and her artistry. The Mae is bright, airy, spacious, and a very comfortable place to spend a few hours. The salon is very busy with clients but the noise level was well within reason and I never felt hurried or crowded. I got the impression that all services are provided with the highest level of care and professionalism, partly due to the beautiful displays of hair color and treatment products on open shelving. An extra welcome touch was Keurig coffee or tea, which I enjoyed. This is definitely a top notch salon.

Update: the salon reached out to me very kindly via email and offered me a complimentary Brazilian blowout. I went in today and received the best treatment! Emily did an incredible job on my hair – I absolutely loved how it turned out. The customer service and care this time around were amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back! I booked an appointment at MAE Salon well in advance and was really looking forward to it since I had seen great things on Instagram. My appointment was for a Brazilian treatment at 12:30 PM, but I wasn’t attended to until 1 PM. Then, to my surprise, the stylist informed me that they were out of the Brazilian product. Seriously? I was given the option to either try another salon (at 1 PM on a Saturday, when no other salon would take me) or do a keratin treatment instead, which wasn’t what I wanted. Since salons don’t open on Sundays and I had a flight on Monday, I felt forced to settle for the keratin. For how expensive it was, I expected something high-quality, but it fell short in every way. It didn’t seem like they applied enough product, and the blow-drying was terrible—definitely not the professional blowout I’d expect. They had to use a flat iron afterward just to fix it. On top of all that, the treatment itself didn’t work. My hair wasn’t straightened properly, and the frizz wasn’t eliminated. For the high cost and inconvenience, this experience was beyond disappointing. I expected much better from a salon with a good online reputation.

The Mae had a very welcoming atmosphere. It was my first time here yesterday and I definitely see myself coming back. The stylists are amazing at what they do and know how to make you feel not only comfortable but also fabulous. I had a hair appointment and received so many compliments!

One of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had in a salon. Everyone who worked there was nice and welcoming, the ambiance was perfect despite how gloomy and rainy it was that day. Brittany was my stylist for a silk press and it was probably the best one I've gotten in a while. Definitely will go back soon!

My new favorite place! Salon is GORGEOUS, first of all! Jesse was a dream!! So warm, funny, annd friendly!! I also appreciated that she took the time to explain what she was using/doing and why so I can replicate at home. I left the salon so happy, not knowing my hair could look and feel like this. Sarah Villwock is a literal magician! I’m an esthetician and I won’t go to anyone else for my facials. Her energy is so calming and healing and my skin always looks amazing when I leave. Highly recommend her. She’s truly a gem of a human as well!

Amazing service! The vibe of The Mae is so welcoming and I felt comfortable the second I walked in. I was treated so well by the front desk staff and checked in on throughout the visit. My stylist was Crystal, she was attentive and made sure that what I wanted done with my cut and color was do-able. I will definitely be coming back!

I visited The Mae based on a coworker's recommendation after struggling with dry, frizzy hair. Jesse worked magic on my wavy and thick hair—leaving it incredibly soft and hydrated. I'm truly amazed by the transformation! Highly recommend Jesse, who specializes in curly hair.

If I could give this place a higher rating I would. I have been waiting for my hair appointment with Hannah for about a month now and I had it last night. Let me just say it was definitely worth the wait! From the moment I walked in I absolutely enjoyed the open minded, friendly, and homey vibe that not only the actual salon had but also the staff had. I was super nervous about dying and cutting my hair at a salon because the last time I did I came out with 5in+ taken off my hair and bright orange/yellow hair. Talk about traumatizing. Hannah made sure to really listen to everything I wanted and what I was worried about. Then she made sure to explain almost everything she was doing in a way that I could understand so that I wasn’t nervous. In the end, she was able to give me EXACTLY what I was asking for while also making the experience soooooo fun and exciting. I really cannot compare this experience to any of the past salons I’ve been to because it was nothing like them. The empathy and heart that this salon has is like no other. I will DEFINITELY be coming back for my next appointment. If you are nervous/scared to dye or cut your hair, this is the place to go. They really listen and make sure to give you what you want.

I went recently to have my hair cut, I specifically asked just for a light trim. I then received a bad haircut with too much taken off. In addition to the poor cut, my stylist said maybe 5 words... so overall, the front desk people were great I just had a very unpleasant experience this time.

The first time I got my haircut here was amazing. Lille cut and dyed my hair. It was lovely and she was easy to talk to you. She understood that I am VERY low maintenance when it comes to my hair so she was transparent about pricing and didn’t try to upsell me. As I am very low maintenance, I tend to book appointments as I need them. Probably 6 months later I made an appointment with a stylist that was available and one level lower than Lille. While she DID do a good job on my hair… she charged me over $400 🤯 while Lille had only charged me $200 previously. The new girl also relentlessly pushed product and would interrupt me during our conversations. Very annoying. She kept telling me how cutting hair is an art (sure, I get that) and that people should be paying more for their hair care because it’s important. It’s great if someone is able to and enjoys spending money on their hair but for me I have other priorities. I loved Lille and would go back to her but my experience with the other stylist and the lack of transparency on their prices has scared me away. I learned how to cut my own hair and have been doing so for the past 1.5 years

I absolutely hated getting hair cuts, until I found Camryn! She's phenomenal! Yes, it's a great environment and she makes wonderful conversation, but the HAIR! The first time I saw her we cut off about 14 inches and for over a year she's been doing the upkeep. I am constantly told how much people love the cut (lol often told it looks like I'm in Chicago the musical). One time I was stressed and ran in last minute, she even did an amazing DRY cut! How is that even a thing? I will never stop loving this place!

Love the service here. I have been several salons for hair cut and coloring of my hair. Being a brown brunette with curly hair was difficult to understand what type of color suits you well. But Jessie here was very knowledgeable on how hair colors work and what haircuts look good for you. She did an amazing job in cutting and coloring my hair. She even told me on how to maintain my curls and easy tips to style it. Thank you so much Jessie, I would definitely come back to you. Would recommend this place. ❤️

Had an awesome time with Whitney at the Mae for a large chop and some subtle highlights! Whitney along with the rest of The Mae staff (including Connie who made sure my wine glass was full!) were so warm and welcoming. I also was able to get some hair advice from Whitney herself to help me on my curl journey. I will definitely be booking with Whitney again!

I had a hair emergency, botched haircut and bleach job. I was able to get in next day with Shannon and had a total of 4 girls working together to help fix my hair. I could tell they genuinely cared about helping me too! They were so accommodating to my needs and literally worked magic. I left with a beautiful blonde and feeling so much better about my hair. Will definitely be coming back and recommend to anyone that wants to have beautiful hair!!

I have had the best experience with esthetician Madi Horlacher at The Mae!!!! She does a fantastic job with the consultation prior to any service I have had. She explains what the procedure will consist of, what I should experience after the procedure and recommends products to use. I highly recommend her for all of your aesthetic needs and will be asking for her by name again. My latest experience was 4/19/24 for my second micro needle treatment. She was just as caring as my first treatment, talking me through the procedure and asking if I had any questions or concerns. Again, I highly recommend Madi for your esthetician at The Mae.

Jesse was amazing! The immediate difference in my hair was shocking! I had no clue what I was doing, and she really took the time to walk me through every step and answer all my questions so I can try to replicate it at home. She brought out the natural curls in my hair! She's wonderful!!!

This was my first visit to The Mae for their spa services. First, it is a simply beautiful and welcoming environment. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. My visit with their new esthetician, Sarah, was amazing! Sarah recently relocated to Indy and hired by The Mae. So while she is new to the team, she has years of experience and a loyal client base. She takes amazing care of her clients, and truly provides a relaxing experience. I look forward to my next visit with her next month.

The Mae is so lucky to have Sarah in the spa! Today was my first visit at the Mae - I drove over an hour just to receive an amazing facial from Sarah. She may be new to Indy but she has been educating and sharing her talents for years in Bloomington. And I know I’m not the only one willing to make the drive to see her. Sarah is super knowledgeable, and her touch is both calming and rejuvenating. She is the absolute best!
