I have waited a long time to try out this salon and was hesitant because, as someone who has styled my own curly hair for 30 years, I really didn't want to pay the extra amount for the consultation you are required to do on your first visit. I know my hair very well and am meticulous about how I style it, and I generally walk out of a salon with my hair looking worse than when I walked in, and I've even had a "curly hair specialist" admit that fact as I left. So my expectations for what kind of skill is out there were relatively low. I had already exhausted all my options in Colorado Springs and needed a cut, so I booked with Molly Bee at The Nurtured Curl, and it was a great experience. Molly was super sweet, and made me feel good about my own knowledge of my hair. I didn't feel she was condescending at all about the products I choose that may be different than what they recommend. I was really pleasantly surprised because I thought I may receive a lecture. Molly really listened and understood how I said I wanted my hair to be cut and she took her time doing exactly what I asked. Then she washed, conditioned, and styled my hair, and that is when I became super impressed because this is where most stylists go wrong. Molly meticulously went through sections of my hair and styled it, very similarly to how I do it myself. For once I did not have to leave a salon embarrassed by my hair and I didn't have to immediately redo it when I returned home. I'm super happy that I gave Molly a try!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Molly! I have extremely curly hair that has always been challenging for stylists, but Molly made my wedding hair an absolute dream come true. She worked magic, keeping my natural curls beautifully intact and structured, just the way I envisioned. I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out! Not only did Molly make my curls shine, but she also did stunning updos for my bridesmaids, each with different textures and thicknesses of straight hair. Everything was flawless, and she made the whole process feel effortless. Since my wedding, I now trust only Molly with my hair. I drive all the way from Denver just to see her for haircuts and styling—she’s worth every mile! I’d give 100 stars if I could thanks to Elise! She really is such a gem. I didn’t start to embrace my curly hair until I was practically 40 and I’ve never been good at doing my own hair in general (I can’t even braid! *facepalm* I tried for a couple years to get into a routine with my hair that was easy and looked good but didn’t accomplish much of either end. That’s when I finally decided to find a curly hair specialist! Elise made the whole experience comfortable and easy to understand. What’s more is that I sent an email in my own frustration because I couldn’t duplicate the end result since seeing her, which is totally on me. I asked for advice, in addition to the email she sent after the appointment with step-by-step instructions on what to do and products, or videos she’d recommend watching. Elise took the time out of her morning to make her own videos going through each step and sent them to me! See, I told you, she’s a gem!

If you have curly hair, JUST BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT ASAP! I mean. From the location, to the customer service, to the EXPERIENCE, to the PRICES! I met with Molly! She was super sweet and wanted you to feel comfortable. She was good at getting me to talk lol. The atmosphere was just so calming and inviting. They had baked goods ready to be eaten (no charge) as well as coffee, tea, and hot and cold water on the house! The waiting area furniture is comfortable as well! I don’t just “highly recommend” you check out this salon, I’m BEGGING you! I know how hard it is to be a curly haired girl and trying to find a stylist, and an affordable one at that. You also get a lesson in how to care for your curls AND a goodie bag to go :)

I am about a month out from my first haircut at The Nurtured Curl. And it was also my first curly cut. Teresa was amazing. She understood that I am a mom of a toddler and don't have time to diffuse my hair every day. She understood that as a working mom my priority is not a 30 step hair care routine. She worked with my lifestyle suggesting tweaks here and there to produce the perfect curls. She taught me as she styled and I have been able to reproduce the curls and the style she gave me. This was an educational experience just as much as it was a haircut. I learned so much about curls and curl care. Every step of the way I was almost wishing I could take notes. But then I didn't have to. She emailed me a full summary of the curl care that we discussed. She suggested products but never pushed them on me. Never told me that the product she was selling was the only way to perfect curls. She taught me ways to work with new and old products. Turned me away from ones that were not doing what I thought and now my hair care routine is totally streamlined. She listened to what I wanted and the cut looks fantastic. My curls are totally rejuvenated and looking fresh. The cut is flattering on my face and also works with where I like to part my hair and my curl pattern. TL;DR: Amazing cut, very informative, not pushy product sales. Lovely conversation. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing experience every time I see Jami. I've been seeing her for almost 5 years, since we moved to COS, and my hair has never looked and felt so great! She takes her time to instruct and tell me what she's doing. Her skills are amazing but her love for her clients shows not just in her work, but her amazing attitude and care for each client. I never leave disappointed!

Always amazed! I've gotten many haircuts from many different stylists throughout Colorado Springs but by far, Molly is the BEST. She has made my hair look and feel like it's brand new, plus the products they offer really are nice.

As in name, the Nutured Curl is a hair salon that nutures your personal curl. This is salon offers many things. They personalize the visit for your individual needs and wants. They taught me about my curl and how to wash, condition, and style it. They were very knowledgeable about the products they sold, and were under no pressure to purchase. The thing I always wanted but did not know I wanted from a hair stylist was connection. We see on TV and people have a personal connection with your hair stylist, they listen, make you feel important, and feel pretty. I got this from Elise. Elise was open, and provided an easy that I could express concerns. She worked her magic and was able to take what I was saying make it work with my hair. I don't think I would ever go anywhere else.

Highly recommend this place! ThIs is one of those reviews you want to give low stars so you can still book an appointment with you hair dresser, but at the same time you have to give them the review they so rightfully deserve cuz they are THAT AMAZING... if you know, you KNOW! This is my hair's pamper space and I never plan on leaving. ❤️

I did not get the cut of my life or even close to it. I did pay $180 for a 20 minute haircut & 2 1/2 hours of styling that I will never reproduce. This is not the place for people that never intend to spend two hours on their hair every time they wash it. Make sure you know exactly who you get to cut your hair, all stylists are not equal.

I don't normally write reviews but I was so impressed with Molly and Jami's knowledge of curly hair. Molly spent 3 hours with me mapping out my curl pattern and giving me the proper cut I needed for my head shape and curl pattern. My hair has never felt so hydrated with the bounce and shine I've sought for so long. I walked out of the salon with products I'm excited to try, knowledge I didn't know I needed and a new found love of my curls again. I can't wait to to be back in the salon again, the entire atmosphere was just so warm and welcoming. They listen to all the concerns and answer all the questions with no judgment. Hopefully Jami or Molly will post the before/after pics since I forgot to ask for them.

She took the time to really show me how to cleanse and nurture my curls and how to style my curls by walking me through and having me practice in my own hair so I could get hands on experience actually doing it! I just had the best haircut of my life with Jami. I was really nervous to see someone new and was put so at ease, as Jami is so kind and knowledgeable I knew right away I was in good hands. My goal is to grow out my hair but it’d been a while since my last cut, yet somehow, despite taking off my dead ends I left the salon with hair that looked longer than when I arrived. I actually cried happy tears when I saw my hair at the end! I am so thrilled to have found Jami and this salon and look forward to having a long relationship!

I never write reviews, however my experience with Molly was amazing! I went in having no layers and a lack of knowledge of how to take care of my wavy hair. Molly taught me what products I should use and how I should use them. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the appointment and I am so glad I scheduled. Results came out way better than I expected and this appointment really made me fall in love with my hair!

I was highly impressed by my experience here. I’ve gone twice with two different stylists, and they were both knowledgeable and helpful. I love my new cut, and for the first time in my life, I feel like I can manage my curls and love my hair thanks to the advice I received here. I had a bit of a frustrating experience with my first appointment, but when the owner heard, she went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied and received what I wanted. The customer service is phenomenal, and I felt like the stylists genuinely wanted to help me. I look forward to coming back.

If you have curly hair: definitely go here! You know when you go to a salon and get your hair done and you leave and you are NEVER able to recreate that feeling of beautiful hair ever again once you are outside of the salon? I came to the nurtured curl to learn how to care for my hair and left this salon happier than I have ever left any hair salon. I am so glad I made an appointment here after seeing their before/after pics on instagram, I knew that this would be the right place for me and my hair type. Molly took really fantastic care of me and showed me proper techniques for caring for and maintaining my curly hair. I haven't left the hair salon happy in over 5 years and Molly really made me feel nurtured and pampered. I really liked how this salon approaches their clients and makes the process feel not too intimidating and didn't make me feel silly for not knowing how to care for my hair. Even more, I always have deep respect for businesses who treat people with dignity and kindness and you can tell that this salon has a reputation of treating their clients with the upmost care and you can tell that their returning clients really love and trust them. It was easy to see why once my hair appointment was finished! This all to say: you know how you are never able to recreate that feeling outside of the salon? I am so thankful I came here and had an appointment with Molly who showed me how to recreate my beautiful salon-quality hair at home! My hair has never felt more beautiful!

I’ve been going to The Nurtured Curl for a couple of years now and can’t say enough about how wonderful they are. I’d received curly cuts before from other local curl specialists, but TNC rises above the rest. tl;dr version: Go!! You will walk out beaming. *I say “curls” below since that’s what I have, but they work with all types—waves, curls, coils, and natural hair. As others have said, your first appointment is a true inventory and accounting of your hair—products, past styles, routines, frustrations, what works and doesn’t, the time you have on styling your hair, and what you’re looking for. It’s a 3-hour experience that includes not just a dry cut and style, but an education on how to care for, love, style, and maintain your curls. Even if you’ve been straightening/chemically relaxing for years, this first appointment is well worth the time (your curls are still there!). Subsequent “refresh” cuts are also dry cuts, so every curl can be visualized in its natural pattern and in relation to the other curls. It’s a faster, less expensive maintenance cut. I see the owner Jami (who has been training their new, knowledgeable, friendly, eager and skilled stylist, Molly Bee), and have also seen Elise and Teresa. They are *all* extremely talented and passionate about curls, and that passion suffuses to the client (the whole point is to be able to love and do your own curls at home, right?). Although pricey up front, it’s such a worthwhile investment if you’re ready to embrace, show off, and adore your natural curls. I get SO many compliments that I now carry a stack of business cards to give out to people (and yes, I’ll admit I sometimes approach other curlies to compliment them and if it happens they’re new to town or looking for a stylist, I’m ready!). I’m pretty sure I cried after my first cut and have continued to be thrilled with their services. The whole team is caring, friendly, and also dedicated to continuing curl education in order to consistently keep learning about this always-evolving field. Jami is wonderful with her staff and invests greatly in them, both personally and in their continued growth as well. The thoughtful and team-focused atmosphere really is the cherry on top. So, go!!

Mollie did amazing!!! I came home and threw away all of my products. I feel absolutely amazing! I slept on my curls without a bonnet for the first time in a long time. She gave me a curl routine that is reasonable for me and made my lack luster curls look gorgeous! She is so kind, and open and really listened to my concerns and took her time to explain each step and why. It was such a am amazing experience. We booked a wavy appointment for my 14 yr old daughter and she is so excited. I feel like I look the best that I ever have. My daughter and I have been customers for several years and absolutely love the Nurtured Curl. We both have wavy hair and the Nurtured Curl team taught us how to bring out curls we didn’t know we had! I absolutely love how they cut our hair dry so they can see how our hair falls and works with it ensuring the curls are maximized. They taught us several techniques specific to properly hydrating our hair, how to get the best curls, how to minimize frizz, and more importantly how to fall in love with our hair! Please go book right now, don’t even read this review. I saw Elsie and she was the most lovely company ever through the whole 3 hour process, it was amazing. A welcoming and inviting space and time. I got a cut that looked beautiful even before the wash and style. We sat down and discussed my products, goals and what haircut I wanted and she did everything correct. The wash? Amazing getting my scalped massaged was a very lovely experience. The styling process you do all by yourself so you can easier recreate it at home. There was absolutely no pressure to buy the salon products either which was very nice. I adored my experience here and am now recommending this place to every curly person I know.

Words cannot capture how awesome my experience was with Elise at The Nurtured Curl. But I'll try to explain in words... My hair has always been a battle for me. I never have been able to embrace my natural curls. After my appointment with Elise, I feel like I FINALLY understand how to nurture and enjoy my curls! I was so nervous to go to a hair specialist, to invest time and money... but every minute and dollar was well spent! Elise was so kind, gentle and supportive. I didn't feel ANY pressure, judgement or pushiness. I felt relaxed and peaceful during the appointment. The Innersense Products I purchased through The Nurtured Curl have been wonderful. At home, I still needed to do quite a bit of experimenting with my new Innersense products to get the results I wanted. That being said, Elise was a very knowledgeable teacher in the salon, she walked me through each technique of hair-care. So if you are not getting the results you expected from the products at first, I would recommend reaching out to your curl specialist or try experimenting with the technique/amount of product. It took me about 4 or 5 showers to finally figure it all out. Now I've got the routine down and it's an easy, enjoyable hair-care routine. To sum it all up, I learned so much from Elise! And felt really uplifted after the appointment! My family/friends have noticed and complimented my newly nurtured curls. But the best part is that I'm truly enjoying my natural hair, finally!

AMAZING Elise did a great job teaching me everything that I needed to know about my hair/hair type and shaped my hair to fit my head shape!! I got to do things with my hair hands on so that I knew exactly what to instead of just watching the whole time and trying to figure it out at home. 100/10 recommend to anyone!! My hair feels so amazing and looks the best it’s ever looked.

Elise is amazing!! I've been to a ton of hairstylists and as a wavy/curly haired person I can honestly say, not once have I left the hair salon with dry, styled hair that looked beautiful. Usually I leave with sopping wet hair, or heat straightened hair, or some crunchy waves that make me look like a wet rat. Us curly folks know this all too well. We then go home and wash our hair only to find out later that the haircut is not quite right. I had received a cut that I didn't quite like and came to Elise and Jami for help, and boy did they help! For the first time EVER I left a salon with gorgeous waves that were lovingly styled to perfection. Not only that, but I left the salon FULL of new tips and tricks to take home to try myself - and let me tell you, when I washed my hair and followed a few of those techniques my locks looked GORGEOUS like I've never seen them before! Not only do I have tools to add to my toolbox of curly haircare, but I got an incredible cut by the amazingly talented Elise - thank you SO much!

For women, our hair is our crown and glory. My daughter has curly hair! Really curly hair. And I just didn't know how to take care of a girl with really curly and coarse hair. When she was little and she had those Shirley Temple curls, it was easier. But since puberty, it really started kinking and changing texture. Other hairstylists have had a hard time working with her curly hair. So I searched and searched and finally found one that only works with curly hair! Jami spent 3 hours with Lilly today giving her a hair tutorial. She cut it, worked on how she needs to shampoo and condition it, dry it using a cotton pillowcase, scrunch it, how to clip and diffuse it, and keep it moisturized with product. Jami had my daughter model her steps so she could do it at home and gave her tips like sleeping with a satin pillow case and finger combing. She then said she would give her a list with each step that she went over and if we ever had questions we could call her. It was so amazing to watch someone spend so much time with your teenager who can be so self conscious at this age and work with her to give her the self confidence she needs about her hair. And now she can embrace her curly hair. I teared up at the final look of her hair! It's never looked healthier and my daughter had such a beautiful smile afterwards!
