The spa is under construction through February, significantly impacting the experience despite its premium pricing. We were informed of construction when booking but only notified 24 hours prior that key amenities—including the sauna, steam room, and locker facilities—would be unavailable. While we requested a discount, the 20% reduction didn’t adequately reflect the diminished experience. Check-in was at a makeshift folding table near the elevators, and the “relaxation room” was just a repurposed hotel suite with standard seating, shared with other guests. There was no spa ambiance—no music, no robes—just tea, water, and basic snacks. The facial itself was underwhelming. My esthetician skipped the steam, immediately started extractions, and frequently left the room to retrieve supplies, cutting into service time. While I did receive an incredible neck massage as part of the service, the overall experience felt rushed and disjointed. Even after renovations, I’d likely choose the Waldorf or Langham instead, as they provide superior service and full amenities at a comparable price.

Current spa member but canceling soon. Level of service does not align with the fees we pay.

Went here last week to use a gift card I had been saving for years (traveling a lot got the best of me, so I was very excited to finally use it!). I was told the facilities were under renovation but that they still had the same level of experience for my massage. Booking was super easy and quick! Just to preface - this service was January 13, so thing might change by the time you read this. When I got off the elevator, I was met with the receptionist sitting at two very crowded folding tables with a cheap table cloth on it. She didn’t even have enough room to prep the clipboard she needed me to fill out. It was all set up in the hallway of a floor of regular hotel rooms. I then moved to the “relaxation room” which was just a hotel room that they took out the bed and put a few chairs and tea maker in. It was embarrassing. The bathroom was in the hallway and you could hear EVERYTHING happening in there. There was no music or sound to ambient the room. And no snacks like trail mix that others had posted about. Just a dead quiet room with chairs where you could have tea and hear people in the bathroom. I was then taken to my treatment room, which again was a regular hotel room that they took the bed out of. The table was super comfortable and the massage was ok. My therapist was a bit too deep in most places - even when I asked him to lighten up. He never asked how the pressure was or checked in along the way, which was disappointing. “Spa music” was playing from his phone. No speaker, just a phone turned up. At the end - I at least expected to be offered to use the shower if I wanted. I was told to get dressed and meet him in the hallway. At check out I asked if the pricing was discounted considering they didn’t have any of the normal spa amenities. The receptionist smiled and nervously said “no” as she fumbled with the clipboard again. Very disappointed in this service and the environment. If their spa is under renovation, they should not offer services. If I wanted to walk into a room and receive a decent massage, I would have gone to massage envy. Stay away from the peninsula while they are under renovation. They should be embarrassed to change the prices for what they are currently offering.

Very odd experience using a gift for a spa day . Apparently the gift included a 90 min massage with nails and a facial and lunch . They didn't have availability for the 90 min massage and only had time for a 60 min massage . I said that was fine because I had waited awhile to use gift and just wanted to use it . Apparently , if you DONT get the 90 min massage you don't get a lunch . It didn't make any sense to me to get less service and no meal but it was fine . However, when I got there the nice lady who did my nails asked if I had been given a meal and I explained situation . She then tried to advocate for me . The lunch thing kept coming up , it wasn't very relaxing hearing about it all the time . Finally a manager came and gave me a meal and was kind , but the place seems very poorly organized . I'd say the front desk staff was very unorganized both on the phone and in person . The prices one pays for the services one would expect much better staff . Also the facility itself wasn’t as nice as one would expect. The pool is open to hotel guests as well and was full of children running around (it’s the holidays so I get it -and like children , just thought there would be a spa only whirlpool or something ). No one waits in you at the pool or elsewhere . Locker rooms were fine but my local gym has nicer locker rooms .

We have been trying to use a two-massage gift certificate for nearly a year. When ever we call, there is no availability, and then if we ask to book no matter how far out, they say they can’t we have to call back at a later date to see what is available. We left a message for the Spa manager to call us to either book us or refund us, and we are still awaiting a return call. This is not The Peninsula that we know for our stays all over the world.

I received the most relaxing and wonderful facial from Liz. She is so sweet and gentle and my skin is glowing!

My favorite spa in chicago! The service and amenities are excellent. I love the pool and massages and come here all the time. The Z Bar and cafe downstairs are also excellent.

We just had an amazing spa day at the Peninsula! We did a full day package as part of a birthday weekend, and it was everything we hoped for. The amenities like the pool and steam room were just so luxurious. We did a full day of services, and every single one was magical. The techs were all clearly knowledgeable and professional but also very kind and personable. Lunch was also delicious and delivered poolside. We had such an amazing time, we’re already scheming to get back to the Peninsula as soon as possible!

A10/10 experience. Massage with Mario was next level, he was able to provide deep pressure to activate muscles that made a difference in my neck and back. Liz was incredible for a facial, not just relaxing and knowledgeable but kind and a pleasure to interact with. The front desk and locker room staff were exceptionally accommodating and I felt the services were well priced. Only suggestion- why don’t the beds in the quiet room function? The remotes do not seem to do anything. Maybe some signage? Also no place to put used cups in the quiet room. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The spa itself is lovely and I highly recommend Melissa for a massage. 60 minutes was great, but next time I’d get a longer session. 5/5 stars!

This is a lovely spa in the heart of Michigan Ave. There is a well equipped gym, pool, outdoor deck, mani/pedi, and spa. I go for the Blissful Marma massage and leave feeling relaxed and renewed. It is my favorite hotel spa in Chicago.

I booked a half-day package that included a massage and a facial at the holidays. My esthetician was nice enough, but was talking throughout both services, often about personal things. She never asked me if I wanted to continue the conversation, and when I would try to trail off she would begin talking again. The entire experience wasn’t very relaxing, nor was it worth the money unfortunately. While the Peninsula is a beautiful property, I was underwhelmed by the Spa services and amenities. I would not return nor recommend it to others.

Nella and Aldona are the true shining stars of this entire spa. Their professionalism and warmth set us as ease for the entire rest of the day. If every employee was as welcoming as these magnificent ladies this place would be impossible to beat. The massages were interesting but overall good, the facials left a little to be desired. I would recommend this spa, but be sure to book in advance so you get good appointment times and pool access when it’s sunny and quiet in the late morning/early afternoon.

I can’t start to give my review without adrenaline rushing through my body. The only thing missing out of the employee attire at the SPA is the eye patch. I consumed $500 worth of service at the SPA I got charge $2000. I have called now 5 times everytime no worry we will speak with accounting absolutely nothing. Be aware when you go on if the use your card be careful rather use old fashioned cash if you shake hands watch if you are missing any fingers.

I got the best massage of my life this morning from Nick at The Peninsula Spa. I’ve gotten so many massages over the years and am shook by how incredible, healing, and perfect this one was. I asked for really hard firmness and he released all my knots, trigger points, demons, etc. in places I didn’t even know I needed like my feet or hips. I now view my life as BN and AN - before Nick, and after Nick. Thank you!!!!!

I was able to get a fairly last minute 90 minute massage with The Peninsula Spa this past weekend. The facilities are spacious and the views are amazing. Neel was my therapist and she went over and above to make sure that I had a fantastic experience! I would absolutely recommend this spa!!

I was really excited to book a spa retreat at the Peninsula on a staycation but when I tried to book I was left on hold for over 30 minutes, ended up hanging up and calling the front desk of the hotel where the receptionist was very nice and said she would stay on hold with me until the spa picked up, this time the picked up quickly. Once I was transferred to someone in the spa, I told them what I was looking to book a massage and facial and gave them a specific day which they said had no openings, then I asked for another day and same thing, I gave them the same thing for almost every day over a two week span and they left me in a complete guessing game without ever suggesting any alternative times. It left me confused and wondering if they were even interested in my business, I eventually gave up and said ok, I will call a different spa and they said ok, hung up and I called the Waldorf where they were very accommodating and easy to book.

Labor Day luxury. The spa at the peninsula was amazing. Only not easy the second bed in the waiting room was broken and did not work. I did the full day lux retreat. Very awesome experience. 👌

Not worth the money. $250 40 min massage and $135 20 min pedicure. Customer service was sub par and the register system was down

Our experience at The Peninsula Spa was excellent. We went for my birthday and called to book about a week in advance. My mom and I both got the half-day destress package with massage and facial. They weren’t able to do both services for each of us back to back but said we could do one each in the morning then the other for each of us at 1 pm. That worked out perfectly because we were able to spend those 3 hours in between in the relaxation room and by the indoor pool. They brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday. We ordered lunch by the pool and the food was really good. The massages and facials were also great. I wish I could remember the name of who did our facials, but Veronica did my massage and it was AWESOME. It was the BEST day and we will definitely be back next time we visit Chicago.

Scheduled an appointment for waxing and was met by a rude and informal technician, she applied burning wax to my skin, not asking once if I was comfortable or the temperature was bearable, she waxed several leg areas twice, leaving others unwaxed, these unwaxed areas she attended with wax and cloth strips she had already used; in the middle of my full leg wax she removed her gloves and threw them at me, changing gloves for what I imagine would be the remaining 3/4 of my full leg wax. At this point I Immediately rose from the table and left. Expected five star technique and service, fully disappointed. Took my business to Tricoci, which I fully recommend following my next-day full brazilian, full leg and underarm appointments.

The time before we started our massages was rough. My daughter and I were each scheduled at 11 for a massage and my mom was scheduled at 10:45. My mom was taken in and then a masseuse came for my daughter. She said that she was going to do her 10:45 facial. The room was set for a facial. My daughter explained she was having a massage at 11. The masseuse said her appointment was for a facial so my daughter went to the front desk to figure out what was going on. Her masseuse berated her for going to the front desk and said she was making her late. Turns out the masseuse was completely wrong but that attitude really effected my daughter’s start to her procedure as well as my own. She was not offered a choice of aromas or the hot towel You go for a massage to relax but the start was far from relaxing. Her name was Pam and she should be instructed on how to deal with patrons. If she can’t change her demeanor she probably should not be in this business. On the other hand, my massage with Veronica was wonderful. She was friendly and did a great job. She inquired how I was doing the whole time. At the start ache asked if there was anywhere I wanted her to concentrate on or if there if was any place that she should avoid. She was helpful picking the aroma and the warm towel under the neck was fantastic.

Went this morning with my fiancée for a couples massage and we had Neel and Nick and both my partner and I had amazing massages. We did a 60 minute massage and over that time, Neel hit all the major parts of my body (arms, legs, back, etc.), releasing tightness and working through knots. She also spent some time on head & neck and honestly thought I could have gotten a massage just for that area it was so soothing! Highly recommend and they are gifted at what they do - very considerate too (e.g, asked numerous times whether firmness was ok, brought robes/slippers for after, etc.).

I booked a half day spa experience which included the use of the pool. Overall, the experience wasn’t as relaxing at I expected. The pool did not have any attendants. In order to order lunch or drinks, you have to call using the house phone. The one hour massage was good (not great). The masseuse wasn’t overly friendly….The one hour facial was not worth the time or money.the whole experience was robotic and not relaxing. The esthetician (even though I’m not sure if she is a licensed esthetician) didn’t dim the lights, she robotically told me what she was going to do before the facial started. The first thing I noticed is that the drop down ceiling was stained. The esthetician spoke in a loud voice the whole time and tried to upsell me a $70 collagen mask (I found out later that my friend’s esthetician charged her $95 for the collagen mask. We told the front desk but they didn’t seem to care). The facial was supposed to include a foot rub. It was comical bc my esthetician clearly didn’t want any part of it bc she used wet towels and essentially cleaned my feet instead of rubbing them. I just had a pedicure so I know my feet were in pretty good shape so I’m assuming she just doesn’t like feet. I honestly couldn’t wait to get out of that room. I’d also like to note that the check out process could be more efficient and that the staff should work on acting like they actually want to work there. And some attention to the clients would be nice. Overall, I cannot recommend this spa. There are so many other wonderful spas in the city if you want to be pampered. The Peninsula Spa is not worth the money or effort which is such a shame. Love the hotel and really wanted to love the spa.

I wish I could give a better review but 60 minutes into my 90 minute massage I was told she couldn’t increase pressure as she was “tapped out”. This was after going “light” up until then. Music also stopped 60 minutes in and wasn’t turned back on. My appointment was at 6:45pm on a Friday so perhaps she was tapped out for the day. Disappointed considering I expected more for a $300+ massage.

World-renowned spa that is a personal fave, with excellent facilities and staff that make it a true NYC gem.
