Charges were larger than original booking. Higher prices for services but additional add ons for inflation. Unanticipated extras. Hustled by flattery and photos. Sold a product higher than first quoted. I was very surprised by pre charged bill. It is sad because my daughter and I really like his work as a hair colorist.We've been going to him since the beginning of his career at Sports Club LA. Managing company is bad.

Aside from being polite, professional and pleasant to be around, he's an expert at his craft and takes his time to provide you with exactly what you're looking for. I rarely get compliments after my haircuts BUT after I started going to Cilas, people kept on telling me how great my hair looked! Cilas is professional, patient, knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with. I HIGHLY recommend him if you are looking for a great haircut.

Wow! Great experience. I lost my colorist b/c he relocated. I immediately knew I wanted to call on Rick who had a stellar reputation for blonde highlights. I was so happy but not surprised. My experience was everything I was looking for. No drama. No long waits. Just a gracious artist who saw me, and made me my most wonderful self! Price was very competitive in a really expensive market. I had the pleasure of meeting Ben who gave me a great haircut, sexy style and a little parenting advice:) Reny was amazingly soothing at the dreaded sink. Don't think twice if you need color or cut with these guys. I've been doing the 'high end salon' scene in NY for 30 years. This is by far was my happiest!

Carrie has been cutting my hair for over 10 years, and I follow her wherever she goes because she is so talented! She always confirms how I would like my hair styled, and she is very sophisticated in the way she layers my hair to provide volume but also makes it easy for me to maintain on my own between visits. She is the best. And the Salon Project is well located and a lovely space.

I got my hair colored and cut by Cilas and absolutely loved it!!! Highly recommend him. So many of my girlfriends also go to him now. He’s very attentive, talented and always listens to what I want to align with my hair goals. My hair has never looked better.

I had the pleasure of meeting Carlos and booking him after he was recommended by a friend and I’m so thankful I came despite my fears of things going horribly wrong. As someone with natural hair finding the right stylist is like finding the perfect bra. Carlos is the first stylist I’ve seen who on site wasn’t afraid of my hair! He embraced the challenge and made me feel comfortable and confident in his skills. He’s amazing at what he does, direct and funny as hell. Not to mention full of knowledge on natural hair from curly to kinky. I walked in with a sad looking wig on and left feeling brand new! I’ll definitely be back again.

My stylist, Carrie, always takes the time to listen to my preferences and offers thoughtful suggestions based on my hair type and face shape. The haircut itself was precisely what I wanted—stylish, and perfectly executed. The atmosphere of the salon is modern and clean, staff makes me feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend Salon Project and Carrie for anyone looking for a professional and fantastic haircut!

Overpriced for poor service. I do not write reviews and usually always give people the benefit of doubt but the below needed to be said especially because I choose to give this salon a shot because of the other reviews. I have been to several NYC salons historically and thought the price charged for a pixie haircut trim was outrageous. Typically anything over $100 has exceptional service at a minimum - for example: salons offer a beverage / consultation, etc. This was my first time at the salon, and while the haircut itself was fine. The charge of $225 for a 15min pixie trim was beyond ridiculous. Will not be returning. Strongly recommend every person booking an appointment to check prices and talk to the stylist about pricing BEFORE the appointment. This was a monumental let-down.

April did an amazing job putting my hair half up for a black tie wedding. I was in from Michigan and just tried the salon based reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. My hair looked lovely even after hours on the dance floor.

The Joel Warren Salon is very hygienic and stylish with plush velvet foot ottomans to raise your feet on while you’re having your hair washed . There’s the water in wine glasses , the meditative aquarium video to view on a large screen .. and the music .. lovely and not noisy , loud and gyrating like most hair salons . The cherry on top is my stylist Ryan who was very detail oriented , accommodating, informative and lovely to talk to . He was fab

I just returned to my favorite salon and saw Rick for a glaze for my grey hair. Usually when I see someone for the first time it takes them a couple of time to get it right, but not Rick! Rick hit it out of the park. My hair is a shimmery, shiny grey, just beautiful! Thank you Rick! So good to be back! I would like to add to this review because I mistakenly did not comment on wonderful, creative and a joy to be with hair stylist, Carlos!! As mentioned I had not been to the salon in quite awhile and was just thrilled to be able to return to him. Carlos has a great eye; he seems to know what style and cut would compliment your face and hair. He’s a very talented hair stylist and I just love how he styles. Can’t wait to return!

From the moment you enter the Salon you are greeted warmly and treated throughout your hair appointment with kindness, respect, generosity- from making certain you have something to drink, to having a velvet ottoman under your feet while having not only your hair shampooed but a head massage - it’s pure luxury. My Colorist Rick is an amazing colorist. A true artist. He understands my hair , how it responds to color and gives me the exact baby blonde beach hair I’ve always wanted and that every other top salon in NYC never delivered. Rick is a genius. Carlos cuts my hair and he too is brilliant in understanding my hair, how much to cut off- I like long hair and keep it looking healthy. Whether I’m leaving the Salon to go on to an event or to simply go home and walk my dog, I leave The Salon Project feeling and looking my very best thanks to everyone who takes care of me at the Salon. Rick and Carlos are the best of the best.

Best experience I've ever had at a salon! Kali is a singular talent & a true artist, and she makes the impossible look easy with her laidback, warm demeanor. I asked for something a bit specific/complicated but she nailed it -- this is the most vibrant & beautiful my hair has ever looked. I'm particularly struck by how stunning the color is under various (and even "unflattering") lighting conditions -- that's magic! The rest of the staff were also personable & warm. I was so comfortable when Jenny washed my hair that I nearly fell asleep... very peaceful, soothing atmosphere. Thank you to Kali & The Hair Project!

I try not to write bad reviews but my hair is in such bad condition. Went for a “face framing” cut with Joel, I’ve had wonderful experiences with Thiago and regret not just going to him. They asked me to dye my hair as my highlights were growing out, I stated I have never dyed my full head and would like a glaze that would fade the highlights back to my natural color. I have ash-brown hair, they glazed it for 38 minutes to jet black and chopped 1 layer into my hair. No face-framing at all. next morning I had asked to go back to undo the black color. They bleached it, and refined. My hair is now brittle, red-toned brown. Absolutely Ruined my hair and clearly didn’t pay any attention to the asks. was dealing with multiple clients at once. I do not recommend using him.
