Liv is amazing!!! She did amazing work on refreshing my hair and giving me back my bangs. I feel so beautiful! I was very comfortable in her chair as well, when I can kinda doze off during a style it’s a good sign :) my hair feels like silk! I can’t wait to go back and plan to have my color done here too Updated 1/25 - Got my color done here and it is perfect :)! Justin is an amazing colorist. My blonde is perfect (not shown i the photo but he totally matched my old job!) Also PS overheard a girl getting her hair done she was looking for a shag cut and no other salon was giving her what she wanted- I think she left looking awesome.

Last minute haircut, quite a big change but... We nailed it! Professional, nice, very qualified people! And Hailey is a great stylist, she immediately got what I had in my mind and make it true! Thank you! I am coming back to Italy with a really cool souvenir now! Giulia

Had such a good experience! My hair never looked so good! I was scared to do my hair but the results were amazing! The staff are caring and overall a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back! Ty!! Went back again and had a wonderful experience! Lynn did a phenomenal job and made me feel like a queen! Definitely coming back!

Justin gives me the best haircuts of my life! I always get so many compliments after, too. The salon space and energy is clean, cheery, and welcoming, and all of the staff seem kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. Super sad to be moving away, but happy to recommend you go here!

It's been six weeks since my cut with Liv, which was my first cut at this salon. I'm really happy with the cut and how it's grown out. I asked for a cut to trim off the dry parts and bring out my natural waves. My hair is still shiny and healthy, and the waves are happy. I'm looking forward to going back and enjoying the calm vibes of this salon.

My favorite hairdressers! Aside from being insanely talented at what they do, everyone is so nice and down to earth. Haley-May has taken me from long hair, to short hair, brown to platinum blonde. I even kept seeing her when I moved to a different state!

This place is great at building community. For a while they were hosting creative performance events and most of the staff from my understanding participates in creative pursuits other than just hair. I think that’s cool!!

Haley May is the best! She always recommends what she thinks is best with the vision I have and is so patient with all my questions about how to style my wavy hair. I love my haircuts with her. Love this place and can’t wait to go back!

I am just so happy with my hair and this salon. I came in and got my haircut with Liv. My haircut is so cute and trendy. Everyone in the salon was so friendly. The vibe there is very cool. I left the salon so happy and feeling great. I can’t wait to come back for color! Thank you Liv and the Wayward staff.

I am not the person to leave reviews good or bad often, because that is legit work - but hats off to Stephanie. I was fortunately able to get an appointment with her as a first time client and could not be more happy with her and her work. Yes, I got all of the compliments the next day, but more importantly I really appreciated her high quality, honest, and kind hair consultation. I was torn between two massively different ideas and she guided me towards the best option for my hair type and face shape. The cut is gorgeous, high quality, low maintenance and falls well. I am super thankful for her work and finally found my stylist after a lot of years of looking in NYC and was a former hair model in a past life. Thank you Stephanie! (PS - My students were also really happy for my style upgrade, so the review should be multiplied by 100)

I have been going to The Wayward Hairdresser for years and years. Hayley-May is a gem for both cut and color! I have sent many friends and even my husband to see her and she can really do it all, on all different types of hair. I am always warmly welcomed and given the best of care between having a wonderful beverage selection and always feeling like I’m truly being heard when gabbing about what new thing I want done with my hair. It’s a beautiful salon and in the summer the back garden is a lovely place to sit while processing. I am never treated with anything other than the utmost respect as well as a true regular walking into a group of friends. Run don’t walk!!

I've been coming here for years to keep up my platinum blonde hair and they never disappoint! Great staff, great music, always a great time. I've referred friends here and they always have a wonderful experience as well. Haley-May is the best! :-)

Kelly and her staff are incredibly talented, conscientious and kind. They go above and beyond to deliver what the client is hoping for / expecting. My wife, 2 teenage daughters and I all get our hair done there (what little I have left with 2 teenage daughters) and we would never go anywhere else. Thank You Kelly for always putting the client first. We Love You!

Love this place! I highly recommend them. Great people and great vibes. Staff is very professional, friendly, kind and attentive. I have hair that is extremely sensitive to chemicals, especially bleach. Every time I leave there my hair feels healthy and it looks great! I never feel rushed as I have in other salons. They always take their time and make me feel comfortable. They have my complete trust! Kelly is amazing!

My absolute favorite hair salon and the only place I will go! Service is fantastic from start to finish. All of the employees at Wayward are attentive, communicative, and transparent. I always feel pampered and am able to actually relax and enjoy getting my hair colored! Cut and color is always exactly what I ask for. They create realistic hair goals and always deliver. I would recommend any stylist at this beautiful and welcoming salon. I will never go anywhere else!! Thank you, Wayward!!

Lynn is amazing! After a thorough and super helpful consultation, we went from blonde to the most beautiful cherry cola red. Before starting, she walked me through the entire coloring process / any future recommended maintenance required so I could make the best informed decision for me. I can’t recommend her enough. My hair is so shiny and feels so healthy!

First time here and never coming back. Lauren cut way too much of my hair off. I told her I wanted to cut split ends. Told her I have been growing it out but know that the ends need help. We said we would take off ONE inch or "how much you see fit". She never checked in with me to let me know she's cutting good 4 inches off. I was the one to check in and was like, there is a lot of hair coming off, what is happening?? If she saw that more need to be cut off she should have clearly communicated her recommendation to me let me let me have the choice of taking ONE inch off vs much more hair that was cut. I walked in with long hair and now it's shoulder length and NOT what I wanted or what we discussed. I literally cried when I saw the results. I would have never cut my hair if I thought this would happen. The shop is cute and receptionist and hair washer was nice, but NOT happy with my hair. Lauren was very apologetic, but that does not put back the hair she cut off.

Had a cut with Stephanie last night and she was amazing! A month or so ago I had gotten a quick and disappointing cut from Fox and Jane, and she took her time to fix it and give me something that was actually a cute style. Definitely recommend!

I saw a recent review referring to Haley-May as a wizard and couldn’t agree more. Haley-May is absolutely a wonderfully talented wizard with my short curly hair. I greatly appreciate how Haley-May attentively listens to what I’m looking for at the beginning of our appointment, then walks me through how she will work towards accomplishing that desired look step by step. I have worked with a number of salons throughout NYC over the years. I’m so glad I found The Wayward Hairdresser, especially Haley-May. Thank you all for creating such a lovely, welcoming space!

This is a very good and upscale hair salon. I'm was new to Brooklyn and did some consults at some Manhattan places but wasn't convinced. I was willing to pay for good work, so decided to check out Wayward as it was closer to home. I wasn't disappointed and the service I received was worth every penny. Justin did my highlights and cut and it was perfect to what I asked for. I then went back for tape in extensions with another stylist, which I was nervous about because of my thin and silky hair. It's been a month now and the extensions are holding very very well and are amazing. The owner is also very nice, and it appears that she does a good job of making sure all the stylists are properly trained. I would feel confident with any of the stylists at this salon.

Got the haircut 6 months ago. It was okay. Probably not worth the money I sent on it (around 100 if I remember correctly), got the flu from someone there even though I was masked and this was the only high risk activity I did during that time. Wish the hairstylist would have masked up but the times have changed I suppose.

Haley-May is a wizard with hair. I’ve had curly cuts before but never have I had someone as good as her. Before the cut we talked about my life style and needs and what I was doing with my hair for styling (not much). After the cut she gave me tips about defusing and about some products. I now shampoo and conditioner and put one cream in and my hair looks better than it ever has, even if I go to sleep with wet hair. People keep asking me what I’ve been doing and if I got my hair done somewhere. My hair has never looked healthier and bouncier and I’ve never felt prettier. If you are on the fence about a curly cut, do it!

I got a cut and color by Stephanie and she did an above and beyond job! She was receptive, attentive, and gentle. She did a beautiful color and cut— I can’t over exaggerate how talented and diligent she was. I left feeling like I was glowing and new person. The salon is so inclusive, thoughtful, and welcoming. I would highly recommend this salon and Stephanie!

My first visit to the salon cost me $$$ and made me fear the mirror as the toner faded and my chunky/uneven highlights surfaced. I contacted the salon and the owner immediately offered to do a FaceTime and consult over the phone. She managed to get me in with a new colorist for a color adjustment with Justin. He quickly knew how to fix it and didn’t make me feel like a brat for coming back because it didn’t look how I wanted it to. He even hand-painted my roots in some places because they didn’t look right. Thank you for your time, care, and attention to detail!

Really cute little hair salon that is an excellent vibe. Grace cut my hair and did an incredible job and even gave styling tips to help me rock my new 'do. Definitely the best salon I have ever visited - I'm so excited to have found such an great spot for my hair styling adventures!

Had a cut and changed back to my natural color. (many years of dying and bleaching) The color match was spot on to my roots and done in only one session! Had a great experience and love my natural locks looking healthy and shiny almost 2 months later 😍

I had the most amazing experience at The Wayward Hairdresser. Not only is the manager super sweet and down to earth but the service is immaculate! Justin is a miracle worker! He made my hair go from dull, dead & uneven to absolutely soft layers and beautiful highlights. I left there with my hair look amazing and he did this all three days before my wedding and in just 3 hours all on his own. He informed me every step of the way on what he was doing to what I should be doing at home to keep my hair looking and feeling this great. The vibes in this salon are so great. I’ve never had such a wonderful experience at a hair salon before. Thank you so much for not just the way I left with my hair but the company and the conversation. Absolutely a 10 out 10.
