Had one of the best hand tied hair extension installations here! They put hair on both sides of the head so that the beads aren’t visible and I’m obsessed— I would 100% recommend Theory!

I have been going to Theory for 5 years and Uyen does an amazing job! I love how close it is to where I live in Little Italy. Uyen is amazingly professional and knows her stuff. I always walk out with fabulous color and feeling confident. If you are looking for hair color or extensions Theory is the place to go!

Uyen is the best in town for extensions! Before I was referred to her by one of her clients, I had hair extensions done elsewhere and they hurt my head. I had to take them off. I was hesitant to do them for years and then I came to and she is amazing. I’ve been with her now for over a year. Uyen is a true professional, super sweet, personable, and funny. I enjoy every visit with her and look forward to it. Highly recommended for extensions!

Uyen was amazing!!! I am obsessed with my hair! She worked so hard on my hair and took her time with the layers. I was nervous to go lighter and Uyen made me feel so much better about it and copied my reference photo beautifully. She did my money pieces perfectly, something I’ve never done before and will be coming back to get done again! Uygen made the hair coloring fly by with her amazing hospitality and conversation. I will definitely be coming back! You’re missing out if you don’t come get your highlights by Uygen.

Aidé , you are the best, thanks again for the awesome haircut! To whomever is reading, I highly recommend Aidé , she gave me the most beautiful cut (textured bob) last week which other stylists in the past at other salons have struggled to get right, but Aidé got it down perfectly and with effortless ease, all while being friendly and well just fun! I moved to San Diego and needed a new look so I decided for extensions. I found Theory Hair Studio through Yelp and got connected with Uyen and Mary and have been getting my extensions installed and adjusted here. My hair is wavy and has multiple colors and faded dye and Uyen was able to match my hair color and texture exactly so that the blend of my hair is seamless. I get compliments on my hair all the time! Everyone is so nice and coming here to get my hair done is so much fun! You feel welcomed and included.

I was looking forward to an Asian stylist but what a huge disappointment. I could not find anywhere to hang my coat and I totally forgot when I left it beside me. She was very rushed with serving 3 clients at the same time window. I wanted Carmel color and it turned out to be ash. Color was not discussed and shown to me. She spilled a lot of the dye mixture and one plopped on my navy jacket. My Hobbs London bought jacket was destroyed. I thought never mind did not want to pile up to her life problems that I heard while I was there, this is just a jacket. Cut wasn’t too bad but oh boy my my hair is so ash light. I understand she is trying to blend with some of my grey. But now I look like I have head of grey hair. On top of that my hair is totally fried. Split ends and frizzy. Paid $391 + $50 deposit for cut and bleached hair. So sad now trying to get treatment to revive my hair.

I have been saved by Uyen twice now! The first time around my hair was very over processed and she gave me the most perfect blonde and got my hair healthy again. The second time I had extensions done at the salon at the fashion valley mall and after a few weeks they were already slipping! They were extremely poorly done and Uyen had to completely remove them and do the job again. Now my extensions are seamless, well blended, and look amazing. Uyen has an impeccable technique and always does what’s best for my hair. Absolutely love my hair every time I come here. 10/10 recommend Theory Hair🥰

I waited for a over a month for this appointment. Three hour appointment, I just got back from off roading in the desert so I said my hair is dirty. She wouldn't wash my hair and canceled the whole appointment. Was extremely rude.

THE place to go to for cut, color, hair and lash extensions. I’m so happy I found Uyen when I first moved to San Diego. She fixed my hair color and brought my hair back to life! I honestly don’t trust anyone else with my hair. I don’t live in California anymore but I make sure to book flights out to see her. She will really take the time to work with you to get the look you want. She is so great at what she does and has a real artist eye for hair. Like I said she’s the only one I go to, and you’ll feel the same way.

Very disappointed with the condition of my hair. After Laisa did full head highlights, I got home, I took a better look at natural light and my hair was in 2 shades: gray and yellow around roots and dirty dark on the length. It was just terrible looking. 2nd day I called and I went back and they used a bleach to wash the terrible color that cost me $500. I got home and after my first wash my hair is fully yellow. On top of that their attitude was awful. Never again there!

Being new to San Diego, I rely on reviews. All the glowing reviews for Theory Hair Studio were spot on! The studio is bright and clean, the staff is friendly, and my haircut was exactly what I was going for!

So flaky and unorganized. I requested an appointment on Saturday and by Sunday I received a confirmation text for my appointment. The morning of my appointment the owner emailed me asking to reschedule for the following week. She went on to say that my appointment was never confirmed. I sent her screenshots of the confirmation text. I had scheduled my entire day around this appointment and tried calling 5 times over several hours and emailing her back without hearing whether or not my appointment was still on for the day. I would never recommend this salon to anyone who wants a reliable stylish. This was the owner BTW! How unprofessional.

After almost a year of coming to Uyen I can honestly say that I don't think I'll ever be able to go to anyone else. Not only did she save my hair (seriously, saved it), she is so much fun to talk to. If you're going to be spending 3+ hours with someone during an appointment, you want to enjoy being around them! Uyen is the best!

I am in total shock. I had a very unexpected death in my family yesterday and I had to cancel my appointment. I received the reminder text and cancelled through the system. I completely forgot about this appointment while I'm matching arrangements, and grieving when someone called me from the studio. I was then told that I would bee charge half ($96) of the appointment even though I had attempted to cancel. When I asked her to please work with me through this very dark time, she hung up on me- charged me- and refused to pick up the phone. I'm already heartbroken and now in total shock that someone would treat another person grieving a loss this way. I wouldn't recommend going here to anyone- based on her unprofessional manner and money motivated behavior. Just wow.
