Not a great experience. Sells you on his talent and his style of cutting… his style of cutting is very “ free flow” and artistic. If you are a more structured person like me, knowing exactly what you want, avoid this place. They don’t understand what a typical butterfly cut is. You have to explain to them exactly what the style looks like, and how it falls on your face how the crown will look what you’re looking for, and he will free-flow via his intuition the style of cut for you. As I know exactly what I want and have gone it many times from quality American stylist in NYC before, I regretted trying this place, especially for the price.

I've been visiting Tokuyama Salon and seeing Yoshi for a year now, and I always leave incredibly satisfied. The salon is clean, stylish, and has a relaxing atmosphere, and the staffs are nice and friendly. Yoshi consistently delivers perfect haircuts and great color. Yoshi listens carefully to my preferences and ensures the results are exactly what I envision. I highly recommend Yoshi for anyone looking for a talented and attentive stylist.

I booked an appointment and was booked with Yoshi. He was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I wasn’t exactly sure the style and he was very patient to talk me through different ideas. Would definitely recommend!

I got lucky and booked a last minute appntmt with the owner. He did an amazing job with my cut and suggested helpful ways to grow out my hair long while minimizing breakage. His blow dry made me feel cared for and special because he did it so gently yet thoroughly and effectively. You can tell he loves hair and treating hair right. He was great to his staff. He suggested highlights instead of whole head color to minimize hair damage. He said my hair is beautiful and planted in me lots of hope for not giving up on my frizzy, wavy, thin hair. So glad I chose this spot. Hidden gem in UES. Usually I trek to K town to get Asian hair cut and treatments. No need to make that trek. Thank you Taka!

have been coming to Tokuyama for 10 years now- virginia is the best at highlights and my children and i go to eriko for our haircuts. she is so so nice and beyond thorough- even when my son was 2 years old she had extreme patience while he squirmed around in the chair! i have recommended anyone who asks that they go to tokoyama salon- you wont be disappointed
