Customer service was great, but I wouldn’t recommend this salon for my natural girlies. I received a BEAUTIFUL silk press, but my curls were never the same after that. It’s been about two years since I received services from Mr.Travis and my hair is about 80% back to where it used to be. If you’re hair is relaxed, permed, etc then he’s your guy. If you’re natural and rarely use heat, I would not recommend coming to this salon.

I recently moved to Atl from Florida. And I decided two days ago, that I wanted to chop my hair off, and go blad. FRESH START! When I entered the salon, all of the hairstylist greeted me. I booked my appt with Travis, and he's professional, nice, and personable. He listened to what I had to say, and excuted the assignment! This was the first salon, I've gone to since moving up here. I'm glad I came here. I'll be back. Travis thank you so much! I love my bald head!!!!

I would not recommend for relaxer service done by Travis. In general my hair is relaxed, thick, and soft. After services here my hair is crunchy to the touch. Doesn’t matter how much leave in conditioner I apply, once it dries, my hair remains brittle. Also, the entire back of my section of my hair is under-processed. I’ve been professionally relaxing every 2 months for over a year, so I’m well aware that this was a subpar service. The extra star is solely given because this place is black owned. Update: All of my hair broke off shortly after this appointment and I decided to go back natural because it was so traumatizing. It's a shame because I had very healthy and beautiful relaxed hair beforehand. Now I'm unable to trust professionals with my hair.

Just got my hair colored, washed, pressed and cut into a bob. Travis did a great job, and my natural hair feels so healthy as a result!

Travis is an phenomenal stylist he makes recommendations that's best for your hair his customer service is excellent he had an emergency on a Saturday had to cancel but open the shop on Sunday morning to service me. 👌thank you. I will be heading back to his styling seat. Travis is awesome at what he does! Honestly, if I lived in the ATL area, I would definitely come to him again! He is definitely reasonable with pricing! The shop looks very victorian which gives it a elegant but modern look. He was so friendly as well! I will be back again when I'm back in the state to visit!

Do NOT go here if you have naturally curly hair that you'd like to keep curly. They do a mean press but your hair will NOT spring back. Please! I was here in 2019 and I'm not sure what they use but I had my hair blow dried and flat ironed for the first time and I had to cut it off because after several months of washing with the shampoo I bought from Naomi in the salon - it did not go back. I rarely get my hair straightened but I have since gone to a natural hair stylist who specializes in curl maintenance who has done a silk press and my hair is fine. Traumatized.

I love going to Travis to get my hair done & will be going to no one else for as long as I live in Atlanta. I am a person who does not put my trust in many as I have very long hair that I take great care of, but Travis is a stylist that I know I can trust with my hair. Not only does he have an amazing, hilarious, and welcoming personality, he is AMAZING at his expertise. He caters to all races of hair which speaks volumes for him as a hair stylist. The first time that I scheduled an appointment he listened to all of my hair concerns and made me feel as if we had known each other for forever. I have received a Demi color, natural silk press, trim, and hair cut; each time he has over exceeded my expectations, and I receive numerous compliments of my hair every time I walk outside of the house; thanks to Travis. I had booked my appointment online for an 8am “ladies hair cut”, I arrived and the business is no longer open...… I even received a confirmation/appointment reminder for my hair cut (“We are excited to see you on Saturday 02/27/2021 at 8:00 AM.”). I called the salon multiple times while searching & I was told by a police officer that the Salon is no longer there.... They could of at least set the automatic text reminders to inform people they are NO LONGER OPEN in that location...…very inconvenient.. Update: I was NOT the only person who arrived at the location at 8am wondering where the business was at. I highly recommend making the automated texts addressing the temporary salon location address. A colleague of mine forwarded me your booking URL so I was not on your home page. I added my email and I didn't receive a reminder or that there was particular address I had to arrive at. Sincerely, Josefine

I had such an amazing time today and look even better. Thank you so much Travis, everyone was so welcoming and sweet and I felt like I was where I was suppose to be. Bts hubby LOVED IT. Thank you again.I had no idea where to begin with my hair and Travis definitely made sure I was treated with the upmost respect. I loved how he communicated the process to me and made sure that I was a priority. Definitely will be back and I will absolutely recommend this place to everyone that ask.

My teenage daughter was looking for a hair stylist for me, and she suggested Travis Dowdy since his Instagram page was full of women with beautiful hair styles and haircuts. I decided to adventure out and try him as my stylist...and guess what, my daughter was right! He did an awesome job on my hair! I was ready to change it up and go for a bob cut, and he nailed it. Travis is not only a great hair stylist, but a hair educator. He's a true professional! Go see Travis, you won't be disappointed! My daughter is a client now, too :-)

So this afternoon I had my first appointment with Travis. I'm super picky about my hair, and unfortunately haven't even allowed a stylist near my head in over 3 years because of a bad experience. I had a TON of split ends and because of this my hair wasn't in the best shape. From the time I walked in, it just felt right, like I was supposed to be there (that's big for me because I was super nervous), I was greeted warmly as he was finishing up.another client. Didn't have to wait long at all. Travis discussed my hair and what I wanted to do with it, and made me feel at ease. I have been to a few salons since being in Ga and many of them always try to convince me that I should go natural(tried it. It isn't for me) or try to convince me to do some crazy random hairstyle that I don't like . He gave me options on whether or not I wanted a full cut or a trim to retain some of the length. I decided to go for it and get all of the unhealthy hair cut off- There was ALOT😥. But I'm happy with the cut and look forward to my hair growing back in no time. He was very professional, and I'm already setting appointments for every 2 weeks. He will definitely be the only person touching my hair as long as I am in Ga!

This is an updated post: This review is not for the service. The service was good. My dissatisfaction concurs with the reviewers who have naturally curly hair. I immediately called Travis when I was washing my hair. My curls have not reverted back and its been three months since he trimmed and pressed my hair. My hair is so straight that my Aunt thought my hair was wet after air drying for three days. I wanted to return and schedule ongoing appts but I am devastated. It took me years to grow out my hair and it will never been the same unless I cut it all off and start again. Travis and I had a conversation about what products were used to wash my hair because my hair reverts after silk press. He was very defensive and said he did not perm my hair. I never mentioned perm or relaxer or questioned his knowledge. He suggested I wait two months and I agreed I would before warning others because I value black businesses. I simply wanted answers because my hair is still straight. I have tried curl activators, deep conditioner, hair mask, etc to no avail.

I just recently booked an appointment with him and when I say I was very impressed with his knowledge and the way he educated me on my hair.. my stylist of 10yrs recently passed in January and I’m very particular about who does my hair.. so, when I say Travis Dowdy has a client forever now.. Travis is extremely knowledgeable and professional when it comes to hair care, and on top of that has great customer service and good energy. I went to Travis for coloring after having an unsatisfactory experience and result from a different salon. He fixed my hair color for me and talked me through the coloring process. I appreciate that I was not left waiting and that my overall appointment time was not drawn out by his juggling multiple clients. The salon has a great aesthetic and vibe. I would go see Travis again.

Travis is great at understanding the clients need and is extremely thorough at his work! I got brown highlights on half virgin black hair and half colored hair. He made an educated guess on the colors to be used to match my hair since I did not want to use bleach. My hair came out perfect!

Travis is very professional and can cut some hair!! I’m very pleased with what he did for me. I am new to the area and will be coming to him when I don’t feel like wearing my hair curly. He cares about the condition and knows his stuff. Definitely pay a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Shame on me for posting a late review but ladies and gentlemen the proof is in the pics. Travis personally relaxed, and styled my hair. This was my first professional cut and the best yet! Travis also educated me on the importance of using a good conditioner, not just oil. My hair looked so healthy! 😘 (05/08/21)

Mr. Dowdy was extremely thorough, and gave me exactly what I wanted! I came in for a haircut, and I was going pretty drastic, from hair almost to my lower back, to a bob cut. I couldn’t have asked for a better haircut, he really took his time. I knew I was in good hands from the minute I walked through the door. I highly recommend going to see Travis for any of your hair needs, you will not be disappointed!
