I visited Charles for a full balayage and he did a great job. He is very detail oriented and took the time to understand what I wanted and made sure to get the outcome right. My hair color was chunky and brassy before and Charles was able to fix both issues. He made the color uniform and super blended, as requested. Highly recommend Charles!

This review is long overdue, but I wanted to share my thoughts after seeing how my hair has naturally faded over time since getting the balayage. I got a pretty balayage from Charles. I started with completely natural hair and spent a lot of time researching before deciding to book with him, and he delivered! He distributed the balayage perfectly and nailed the face-framing as I requested. After seeing how my hair looked, my friend also went to Charles for a balayage, and she was just as thrilled! :) The color has faded so naturally over time, without turning too orangey, which I really appreciate. Thank you, Charles! I’ll definitely be coming back for another coloring.

As you can see from the before photo, the balayage I had gotten from a different salon had grown out and faded unaesthetically. I was upset that I had to spend $$ again after two months to overhaul it, but after getting a partial balayage from Bernice, I don’t regret a cent. I just wish I had gotten my balayage done from her in the first place. I was mindful of time, and also wanted my hair to be lighter overall, so we settled on a partial. Full disclosure: I had settled on a full balayage and had moneypieces and a strip of hair bleaching twenty minutes in when I panicked and asked if I could maybe not do a full balayage/skip lowlights. Bernice was extremely understanding and she suggested just doing a partial since the bleach had already affected my hair. She gave me the most beautiful mushroom color, which is exactly what I wanted. She made sure that the color would suit my skin tone while also respecting my wish to go ashy. She checked in throughout, and gave me a heads up each step of the process. Bernice is sweet and chill and it feels like you’re talking to a friend — she’s so easy to talk to. I also appreciated that she was clear about the price before I asked, and she was so chill that I didn’t feel shy about checking in about the price again when my procedure changed. And she’s a perfectionist in the best way — you can sense her serious work ethic and dedication in the way she handles your hair (she makes sure to get EVERY SINGLE SPOT when applying the toner, I was impressed) and makes sure that you’re satisfied every step of the way. I also appreciated that she gave me the option of either having my hair blow dried straight or curled. I wanted to lessen the amount of heat damage so just opted for a blowdry. The bottom line is that I had the best salon experience of my life with Bernice — I am literally going to stay with her for all my hair needs (she also gave me a great sidebang trim)! She is simply the best.

I got a brown balayage done with Sky and im obsessed. Sky and hair assistant jacky were so accommodating and made me feel comfortable the hours i was in that chair. My hair exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Sky for anyone looking to get their hair colored/cut!

Charles was kind enough to squeeze me in for a haircut and toner last minute and he did a phenomenal job. My hair color before was brassy and chunky and the previous cut was super choppy. Charles was able to fix both of these things and made my color uniform and the cut super blended, as requested. My end result is a lot more healthy looking. He was thoughtful, meticulous, and great at executing exactly what I asked for. I'm looking forward to seeing him again!

Alin is a true artist! I walked in for hair coloring on Dec. 26, and she performed a miracle! I had been coloring my hair at home for years, and as a result, I had several different uneven colors (including black). She was able to give me beautiful, multidimensional, glossy, chocolate brown locks that I love! And she did it without damaging my hair! I am so grateful to Alin for her artistry, mastery, and patience! She exceeded my expectations and I will recommend her to everyone I know!

Charles is my stylist and I couldn't be happier -- each time I get my hair cut, he spends an incredible amount of time with me, talking through all of the different options, and then ensures that I am happy with the final result. I feel like my hair has gotten so much healthier after seeing him over the last year, and he is the only person I trust to cut my hair - he is the best. I am already looking forward to going back!

Here is an updated review: today I came back to the salon for Charles and Teng for a toner service, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! They are both incredibly talented and truly understands how to bring out the best in your hair. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and offered expert advice to ensure the tone was perfect for my hair and complexion. The result was absolutely stunning — my hair looks vibrant, refreshed, and exactly how I imagined it. Beyond his skill, Charles is kind, professional, and makes you feel completely at ease. I can’t recommend him enough for anyone looking for a stylist who truly knows their craft. I’ll definitely be returning to them for future services!

I have loyal to my hair stylist Tina for years now! This year, it was my first time at Unfade and it was a really lovely experience. They have great service, greeted with coffee and snacks throughout! The location is very convenient to get to. Tina remembered my hair and knew how to style it well. I love when they can give great individual advice depending on your hair. She is great at cutting and spends time really making sure it looks good on you! She gave me a cut and then my first digital perm. It turned out so well!! It really exceeded my expectations. Tina has done different kinds of coloring and cuts for me in the past and I couldn’t be happier that she did my first digital perm. All of the staff and assistants were amazing and kind as well. My sister even came with her daughter and they were all so kind to her!! I was nervous that they might not like having a one year old around but they were so thoughtful and nice about it. Definitely will be coming back every time!

I’ve been a loyal client of Roy’s for many years, and when I learned his bookings were closed, I was initially worried about finding someone as skilled. Thankfully, Roy referred me to his apprentice, Charles, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! Charles is incredibly patient and detail-oriented. He understood that my hair required extra time and care, so he cleared his entire schedule for the day to focus solely on me. That level of dedication really impressed me. My hair was in desperate need of a color correction—it was overly brassy, and I wanted to transition to a more natural ash blonde. Charles carefully applied lowlights to balance the tone and then added the perfect toner to achieve the look I wanted. Throughout the process, he made sure to check in with me and explained every step so I felt confident and informed. A special shoutout to Tiffany, the assistant, who was so kind and thoughtful. She noticed I’d be at the salon for an extended period and offered snacks to keep me comfortable. Although I was initially concerned about Roy stepping back, I’m relieved and thrilled to have found Charles. He’s earned my trust, and I’m confident my hair is in great hands moving forward.

I’ve been getting highlights / balayage at various places in NYC over the years (IGK, spoke & weal, etc) but have never been obsessed with the results enough to justify the price. I decided to try Charles at Unfaded after seeing a TikTok and can definitely say he lives up to the hype! This has by far been my best experience getting my hair colored ever. The tone and blending are impeccable and he totally delivered when I asked for something that still would be low maintenance and grow in nicely with my roots. I will say it was a solid 5 hours but it goes to show how much skill goes into the results. Definitely going to be my new go-to hair salon!

Since it's the new year, I really wanted to change up my hair and style. I got Mahogany Baylage and new haircut (long layers) with Charles and he did a phenomenal job! Charles and his assistant really took their time in perfecting my hair! Charles is very detail oriented and gave the exact look I wanted. I really feel like a new me with my new hair! Charles is an actual artist. He takes his time to explain what is best for you, and you can tell he is really knowledgeable about coloring and hair. I mean - look at this before and after! Charles is the absolute best! I came in with nearly 3 years of regrowth since my last color and he was able to take my hair (super dark brown) to ash blonde in the matter of only 5 hours! He explained the whole foilayage bleaching/toning process and we were able to choose the perfect option for my hair without damaging it. He also thoroughly broke down the pricing for me before committing to anything, making sure I was comfortable with the cost. His diligence with preserving the health of my hair definitely shows— after hours of bleaching and toning, my hair feels even softer and silkier than before. He also provided ample education on aftercare to ensure my color will last. I’m beyond happy with the overall look and range of dimension he was able to achieve. Highly Recommend Stylist Alin. I can’t recommend Alin enough she’s incredibly talented. The pictures truly speak for themselves. I had bleach and color done on my hair for the first time, and Alin walked me through the entire process, explaining each step and listening to what I wanted while also offering her expert advice. I was nervous about the bleach, but she kept me updated throughout, making sure I was comfortable. The hair color and cut turned out even better than I expected absolutely gorgeous! Not only did she give me the perfect haircut, but she also fixed my choppy bangs and blended everything beautifully, all while maintaining the length I requested. I’m beyond happy with the results. I really appreciated how Alin and her assistant checked in regularly and even brought me snacks and drinks to make the experience even more enjoyable. Super grateful for her talent and care she made the whole experience amazing.

I can’t recommend this place enough. I got an ash brown balayage with Charles after seeing what an amazing job he did with my friend’s hair. He and his assistant Tan were EXTREMELY meticulous and I’m very impressed their level of skill and expertise. Charles made sure to listen and fully understand what I desired, including what color, level of dimension, and blend. His team also explained the steps they would take to take my hair from how it was with a few problem areas to the outcome that I wanted. Not only did they deliver the PERFECT foilayage, they did so without compromising the quality of my hair (I had colored my hair only five months before) and I’m so thrilled with the final result! I met Alin a few weeks ago for a consultation because I had never colored my hair before, but have always wanted to. I knew very little about the process, the differences between coloring techniques, and post-hair care, but Alin was able to answer all my questions and even the ones I didn't even know I had. She was very friendly and didn't make me feel embarrassed about being a first timer. The day of my scheduled foilayage and hair cut exceeded ALL my expectations. It was a long day, but she and the assistant Jacky were always making sure I was okay, and if I needed snacks/water/etc. I'm more introverted, so I'm not much for small talk/conversing the whole entire time, so I appreciated how Alin didn't make me feel socially exhausted? I loved how she was so focused and meticulous with my hair. The attention to detail really shows!! She also had great judgement with what would work best for my hair so I really appreciated that. On top of everything, she never seemed bothered or complained about how long the process took. And I have so much hair!! I absolutely loveeeeeee how my hair turned out, I couldn't even recognize myself because it was everything I've ever wanted. (': I'm definitely coming back and 10/10 would recommend Alin as your stylist. <3 Jacky was also very nice!

I recently stumbled upon Unfade x Muze Salon on Instagram, and I'm so glad I did! Charles was my colorist/stylist and I couldn’t be happier. Instead of pushing a more expensive service that I *thought* I needed (like many other salons would), he considered my hair’s condition and suggested a different alternative to achieve the results I wanted, without compromising its health. The color turned out amazing, and I’m beyond happy with the experience. I will definitely be going back!

I went to Charles today for a hair color. I recently had a botched hair from another salon in UES. They bleached and made it really orange and yellow so I was nervous to get my hair dyed again. Charles understood I didn’t want to be yellow/orange. I love the result! The new hair color suits me much better. Also the salon is quiet big and spaced out so I didn’t feel so claustrophobic.

I’ve been going to Unfade Salon for 9 years, and when I heard that they were merging into Unfade x Muze I was even more excited since the new location is closer to me! I typically go to Roy but with this new shift and him not currently taking clients, he recommended I go to Sky (@sky_thecolorartist) who specializes in natural brown coloring and he was amazing! I showed him a few photos and videos of what I wanted & he got started immediately, plus he was pretty quick (I got in at 11:30am and left at 4:30!) He was also so nice and fun to be around the whole time, I’m literally obsessed with my cut and color and highly recommend booking him 🫶🏼

Yesterday I did my hair coloring with Bernice. I am so happy at what a wonderful job she did! Very professional, she explained what she was doing and why, which made me at ease. The ambiance is wonderful, very friendly professional place. Roy is an amazing wonderful professional manager who has done my hair in the past and is one of the best I have to admit! To me they are all “Artist” The Best! I’m hooked. I wouldn’t go any place else. Love you guys! ❤️

I had the pleasure of getting a foilayage with Ailin and it was a great experience. She listened to my preferences and walked me through the process at every step. Ailin would periodically check in on me to make sure I do not have any questions and am satisfied throughout. Ailin was also very hands on, from bleaching, hair washing, blow drying, she did it all. I am super happy with the results and received a lot of compliments. Highly recommend

I hardly ever provide google reviews, but I wanted to share how much of a miracle worker Charles is at Unfade. If this review is TLDR, just look at my before and after pictures. :) Back in May I was going to a very important wedding and wanted to have my hair cut and colored. I’m naturally dark haired and wanted to get the ash blonde full foilyage treatment (which I learned later from Charles was what I wanted based on the pictures that I showed him). I found Charles with many five star reviews at Unfade Hair after a lot of research online. I read that he patiently explained things, cared about the health of your hair, and also worked with those who'd never had their hair bleached before. That was exactly what I needed/wanted. Even though I’ve used box dyes from Clairol and Schwarzkopf, I’ve never bleached my hair before and wanted to make sure that it was done well. He was as good as I read online. He cut my hair exactly as the photos I showed him, bleached and colored my hair exactly as I wanted my hair to look and always patiently answered all my questions. I couldn’t have been happier. After about five months, I saw that my hair was growing out a bit and had a few grays coming in. I thought I can’t really afford to go back to the salon so quickly so will try to make my roots ash blonde myself. I CANNOT OVERSTATE WHAT A BIG MISTAKE THAT WAS AND MY PICTURES SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. Charles performed magic and helped me fix my gigantic mistake. It was a complicated process and took a while to correct, but he was patient and took the time needed to fix what I had done to myself. If I could give Charles more than 5 stars for all my experiences with him, I would! One final thing…..I actually live outside of Philadelphia, but I will travel to NYC to get my hair done with Charles. He is THAT GOOD and worth every penny!

My friend referred me to my stylist Amy. I have typical flat and thin hair. It’s very hard to style my hair every day. I was amazed by my stylist Amy’s technique. I didn’t show her any pictures or any styles this time because different people has different type of hair. She did my hair fully based on my hair type. My hair tips was damaged by the previous hair stylist at a different salon. Amy fixed my hair and made it very smooth and shining. I really like my new look. Thank you Amy.
