I love going to Vain, I’ll be a customer for life! It’s so cute and cozy inside, I immediately feel relaxed and excited to get my hair done. Everyone that works here is so nice, they always have snacks and drinks, it’s always a good vibe. Emily is the best hair stylist in the world, she always makes me so comfortable, I love chatting with her, and she never even blinks when I’m a little unsure of what to do with my hair she just takes the lead and somehow always knows exactly what will suit me best. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!

I started seeing Emily at Vain after I dyed my hair “pandemic purple” in 2020 and am so thankful for her amazing skills. Vain is stuck with me because I won’t go anywhere else. Emily is the sweetest human being and I trust her with more than my hair color. Can’t say this enough - Vain is the Best!

I’ve been with Emily for years. I never got compliments on my hair until Emily floated into my life in her beautiful bubble like the good witch she is. Since Emily, the compliments are over flowing and it’s a relief to know I’ll always get a haircut from her without the fear of looking insane or hating it on the way out. She never misses and I would be lost without her. Plus she’s fun. Go see her and enjoy the vibes at Vain :)

Olivia is the best! So happy with her transformation of my hair and overall experience at Vain. Olivia listened to all of my ideas, concerns, and did a great job putting my mind at ease during such a big change. She truly listened to every single thing I wanted and brought my vision to life. She not only did an amazing job on my color but also my haircut. The conversations were also so fun and helped the time pass. 😊 Highly recommend!! She slays all things hair. ✨

If you get lash extensions GO SEE Veronica Casas! FINALLY someone who LISTENS!!! She is by far the best lash artist I’ve ever been to and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. Nothing overdone and we talked about everything under the sun.

Rachel is your girl for a beautiful balayage! She’s a wonderful hairstylist, and was able to “fix” a balayage I had gotten at another salon. A sweet surprise was that she is also skilled with cutting thin hair. All my thin hair girlies need Rachel’s magic touch! She’s was able to give me “Sabrina Carpenter” bangs, plus help my hair feel more fabulous. I highly recommend Rachel for your next hair appointment!

This salon is so cute. I heard from a friend how cute it is and in such a great, easy location. Plus... there is parking! I hate going downtown for anything anymore because of the lack of parking.... I wanted to try lashes so the first time I went I got a lash lift. It was beautiful, and I liked it so much, I ended up going a month later to get a full set of lash extensions. I love them so much. Veronica is so sweet, highly trained, and fast!

I love getting my hair cut here. I'm kinda quiet, socially anxious/awkward and my stylist Ashley makes me feel okay about it. She really listens to what you want and gives you realistic advice on maintaining your new hairstyle. I don't feel forced to make small talk, and I love it. So if you're a more quiet girly like me, I'd recommend her. She's also perky for the perky girls, too :)

So happy with my experience with Olivia. She’s personable and a truly fantastic hairstylist who understands curly hair! She pays attention to the details and listens to what your goal is. I have thin wavy/curly hair and I’ve had hairstylists in the past who wouldn’t layer my hair because “my hair is thin”. Not an issue with Olivia. I love the volume and texture I get from the layers she cut and I love my haircut overall from walking out of the salon to a week later. Thank you, Olivia!! I look forward to my next appointment!

Patricia is an artist. I won't let anyone else touch my hair, maybe for the rest of my life. She gave me bangs that have garnered compliments including, but not limited to: "You look like a movie star. So sexy!!" - my grandmother "Has Taylor Swift just joined us?" - random client on a Zoom call "Ok- who cuts your hair?" - my friend who immediately went out and got bangs the next day A full wash/cut/style runs about $100 after tip, but you get what you pay for and more, and as our dear Fleabag once said: HAIR. IS. EVERYTHING! I only get a full cut maybe once a quarter, and otherwise go in once every 5 weeks or so to get the bangs trimmed and to catch up with bestie. ♥️ I never feel more beautiful than after seeing Patricia! She's an artist in her craft and a saint of a person, and I hope this review brings her lots of tips and business because she deserves the world. "Taylor Swift"?! GO. GO TO VAIN AND BE CHANGED. The whole staff is lovely and the vibes are *chef's kiss* immaculate. I sometimes think about taking scones over there and just hanging out. Not even getting a haircut. 13/10 salon. No notes.

Olivia colored and cut my hair and did a wonderful job, she has a natural instinct for how to style and personalize someone’s hair. I went back to her because I liked her so much. She gives a lot of thought and attention. Very highly recommend, will miss her as my stylist since leaving Austin!

It is always such a treat to get my hair done by her and she always makes my hair look so good :) She is knowledge in her craft and always gives great recommendations about what to do to style my hair and keep it healthy. If you’re looking for a reliable and skilled stylist Olivia is your girl.

Great service. Heads up though for anyone who has a dog allergy or is simply uncomfortable around dogs: they keep a dog on site and it is allowed to roam freely and hop on both furniture and people. My hair was being washed and it jumped into my lap. I asked that it be removed, which it was, but it was not put on a leash or crated or restrained from coming back in any way.

Ashley was great and super professional and on pointe. I already had a french bob, but somehow she made it even cuter. She cut a perfect fringe too! I definitely recommend Ashley @Vain if you're looking for a new summer look!

Emily is a total genius with color. Whether it’s a super light beach blonde or a subtle highlights she always nails it. Her work has depth, is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Her cuts are great too- flattering, stylish and with that little extra flair that takes it beyond a standard cut. I’ve gone there for 4 or 5 years now and *never* been disappointed. So glad I asked that woman at the gym who cut her hair!

Had the pleasure of getting a cropped haircut to help Miss Ashley along her internship, and I was so impressed with the beautiful setup of this salon, and their Covid precautions. Even though there's a lot of relaxing of policies at other businesses, I was much more comfortable here with their current setup and procedures. I was happy to purchase the Surf spray used to style my new hairdo, and have already recommended Ashley at Vain to friends. I will be back, no more Supercuts for me!

I called to ask if they had a type of dye in stock, and even though they don’t have any, the person. I spoke to was super helpful! Very kind to give me some advice on what route to take. I lost cell service in the middle of our call, but I really appreciated the help!

I went to Vain to fix a terrible dye job of reddish brown. I’m normally blonde and wanted to get back to it…thank goodness I landed with Rachel. She spent nearly four hours removing color, highlighting, treating the base and toning. The result is the absolute BEST color I’ve ever had. I spent the last 10 years in NYC and thought I had the best colorist. I was wrong. Rachel is fabulous, and I’m super happy to have found my new hair home!

Olivia is a magical woman, a real hair artist, not just a stylist . I followed her from that other place to VAIN and WOW! The shop really has the essence of Austin in its decor and the energy in their salon is a very good, calming positive, I sensed no bad energies at all, of any source. Every single employee that passed by said hello and asked if I needed anything (i didn't!) Truly exemplary customer service, Texas friendly and hip vibes rocks VAIN. 9h and te adorable little bulldog is an extra dose of Austin goodness!!

The whole experience at Vain was awesome. Friendly and prompt customer service/ front desk. Salon felt very safe and clean - everyone in masks. Patricia is super rad and a wonderful stylist. I'll 110% be back!

This has been long overdue. During the initial COVID pandemic, granted, many service industries were struggling to figure out a way to open up safely. I had an appointment for a color and cut only to get word the day prior that my child was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID. Doing the responsible thing, I called and left a message and was 5 minutes over the 24 hour period, explaining the need to cancel my appointment. As I did not hear back, I called the salon later that day to reschedule and confirm that they received my voicemail only to be told that it was considered a 'no show' and they were charging me the entire amount for my appointment. I asked if I could talk to someone as that was incorrect that I left a message. The front desk called me back relaying that they received the voice message so it was not a 'no show' but still charging me the entire amount. I asked if anything could be done even to meet halfway as this was the first time of this and I as the customer was also navigating unchartered territory. After back and forth, they offered a 50% instead of full price that I would need to pay and asked about scheduling my next appointment. I am leaving much out of the back and forth that continued. I relayed that I will reach out when I am fully vaccinated to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. Upon getting vaccinated, I called to make an appointment and after asking my name, was put on hold for sometime only to inform that they are not accepting new clients and my previous stylist had since left but if I like, they would give me her information at her new salon. I'm sure that many were exposed to COVID case and still went to their hair appointments. I did not and this is what I received in return for being responsible.

Vain has an excellent atmosphere and environment. Jessie has been taking care of me for years, and the ladies at the front desk are always helpful and super professional.
