Scheduling/ appointment service was very frustrating. Initial appointment cancelled day of (things happen) and then not able to be rescheduled for weeks. Made it to the appointment and waited 30min then after I was taken back I was asked halfway through my service that someone else could finish my hair since she was running behind and had her next appointment. So she was 30min late and only stayed for half my appointment before handing me off to someone else. Going to choose another salon next time.

Hands down the WORST haircut of my life. I had hair down almost to my butt and decided to go for "the big chop". Summer was my stylist and she needs to go back to school before she should ever consider cutting someone else's hair. Honestly, she should consider and entirely new career. I asked for an Amelie style bob and I got a floppy shag cut with bangs that will never get out of my eyes. I hate it so much and it's objectively HORRIBLE. Seriously, this haircut was so bad I'm considering shaving my head or investing in a nice wig until it grows out. Shaving my head would would take longer to grow out but at least I wouldn't be stuck with a haircut that makes me hate myself so much I don't want to leave the house. Thanks Summer and Vain for making me look ugly and destroying my self confidence! I will never recommend this stylist or business to anyone EVER.

Deeply disappointed by my experience at Vain Ballard. I was patient when they rescheduled me twice and changed the barber. Then they were late by 30min but gave me a couple free products and a drink. What really dig the hole for them was the barber I was switched too. I didn’t feel like she listened to me and didn’t even really pay attention to the picture I showed her for what I wanted. Even went and showed me her own picture when it’s not what I wanted and didn’t want suggestions. The pictures show how far from what I wanted was done to my hair. She rushed it and was careless. Framing was subpar. It was the first time I got my hair done since January since I’m a student and can barely treat myself…and this is what I get. I still have yet to find a barber who actually listens, that I can trust, and who wants me to feel my best. Pictures of me and what I wanted as example. Apparently it was an impossible ask.

I made a first appointment with Morgan last week and she gave me the most thorough and detailed haircut I've ever received! I have (had?) long straight hair. We took quite a bit off and she added some beautiful layers that make everything feel so much lighter and more fun! Normally after I get a haircut my hair freaks out for a bit as it gets used to its new shape. Not in this case. The shape was perfect right away! Definitely make an appointment with Morgan! Highly recommended....

My daughter was running late to her appointment today. She was told she would have to pay $50 and reschedule another appointment. She is a full time student time and works nights/weekends. She asked repeatedly for options, like just cutting her hair and leaving with it wet. Vains policy doesn’t allow them to do that with new customers. I hope you find a place with a litte leniency and understanding for people just trying to do their best.

I’ve been looking for a new stylist ever since I’ve grown my hair out past my shoulder - I felt drawn to VAIN. Their receptionist was very friendly and informative when I called to book an appointment. I requested someone with 10+ years of experience and was super excited to get my hair cut. My stylist didn’t take me until 25 minutes past my appointment. I didn’t have anywhere to be afterwards, so it wasn’t a big deal in the moment. I told her I wasn’t looking for a new look, but wanted some density taken out and 1-2 inches removed. She did a great job with my cut and took her time! I was super pleased. With her experience level, her prices were higher, and I believe I paid almost $150 with tip. I never mind paying for technique and skill, though! Once I got home I realized she didn’t take much length off (a lot less than an inch to be honest), but found my hair to be more manageable which is what I needed. Now that it’s a few weeks past the appointment, I feel like I need another cut because we didn’t remove the 1-2 inches. That’s annoying given the cost of the service. Given the high price, starting 25 min late, and not actually cutting that much hair, I won’t return. It was a bit too much for what I actually received. She was great, but someone at that experience level should hit all the marks.

I’ve only ever had tinsel done at VAIN, but everyone is SO NICE, professional, helpful, and courteous with your time. I suggest you go in and see what they can do for you too!

Asked to dye my hair to its natural color (that is dark brown) and I left with solid black :( Also they ruined the white tshirt I was wearing. Very disappointing :(

BUYER BEWARE!!! Vain = Supercuts👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 If you’re from Seattle, BEWARE, VAIN has lost its edge and customer service has _the bed. A refund didn’t cover the extensions that were required to fix this severe breakage MESS and I didn’t hear from the owner, Victoria, after I requested that she call me. Too much to ask? Apparently, yes.

Thank goodness got actual inclusive businesses. Considerate of those covid conscious and still require masks. Wonderful haircuts and caring staff that goes out of their way to make sure you are safe and get the haircut hou want.

First time going to VAIN and I had a fabulous experience with Amber. I wanted a fresh look and with bangs, so this was a leap of faith! I showed her some photos for inspiration, and she nailed the 90s blowout mid-length bob look I was going for. She couldn’t have been nicer, and she has the most soothing touch I’ve ever experienced at a salon. I felt pampered. Highly recommend.

I’m pretty bummed with my experience. I went to Ritz. I had long black hair and went to lighten my hair so eventually I could do vivids. I wanted to keep my hair healthy so I was prepared for it to take a long time with many sessions. I had mentioned this many times bc it was very important to me. First session she literally took me from black to gummy destroyed blonde. To fix it she advised cutting at least 4” off (ended up being 7”) and toning my hair but my long healthy hair is completely gone and still recovering from the brutal damage. I came back a couple times for a tone to give her a chance but I hated my hair ever since going there. In hindsight I should’ve said something but I knew there was nothing they could do for my hair. The last appointment I had with her she was gaslighting me and rude. I’ve never had such a bad experience & it sucks all my honeymoon pictures show the results. I was going to just move on without saying anything but it’s been months and I still can’t believe how damaged my hair is.

I’m so happy to have found VAIN. The staff is nice and welcoming and my stylist Summer has given me the best haircuts of my life! My hair can be frustrating to keep up with sometimes and jumping from one studio to the next is a headache. I told Summer I need a new product to style my hair and my likes/dislikes, she recommended a new product that is perfect for me! She always asks questions while styling my hair, too. I highly recommend seeing her!

Summer did an outstanding job! I've always had long hair and she gave me my very first pixie! I had a very specific look I wanted, and photos. She really took her time, listened, and did an absolutely fabulous cut. She was kind and easy to talk to as well. The Vain Ballard location is beautiful, and everyone was so nice. I will definitely be back for more cuts with Summer!

Visited Vain Hair Studio in Ballard and had the pleasure of having Kayley as my hairstylist. Kayley showcased impeccable technical skill and creativity in giving me an outstanding mullet haircut. She's a great listener, ensuring she understood exactly what I was looking for. Throughout the session, she maintained the utmost professionalism and time management, making sure the experience didn't feel rushed. Kayley built a fantastic client relationship by offering water and even teaching me how to style my new look. Cleanliness was on point and her adaptability to my requests was commendable. I can't rave enough about my experience at Vain! Amber was so thorough talking through what I wanted, making sure we were on the same page and that my hair would do what I wanted. Before Vain would even confirm my appointment booking, they texted asking for photos of my current hair, photos of what I want and details about the nature of my hair. It made me feel much more confident going to a new place and stylist for cut and color. I absolutely love how my hair turned out. Both the cut and balayage. A bonus is how wonderful the salon is - full of so much natural light, looking out at Ballard Ave. I definitely found my new salon and stylist.

I love VAIN and have returned here over the years for especially tricky hair cuts or colorings. I've seen various stylists but have trusted VAIN to consistently hire top-tier people. I see other reviewers mentioning a negative receptionist from a while back, but the receptionist I interacted with a few weeks ago was very professional and kind.

I got my hair done by Grace! She was awesome! Sometimes I get a little social anxiety when I go to the salon, but Grace made me feel super comfortable, didn’t try to force convo, matched my energy level, and did a great job living out my vision. I was kinda all over the place with what I wanted, and I feel like Grace gave me exactly what I had in mind as well as teaching me a few things along the way. I was nervous going into it, because I chose a style I haven’t had before , and it was my first time at the salon, but I’m super stoked on my new do, and I will definitely be back!!!
