Unprofessional and Disrespectful Service – Extremely Disappointed! I’ve been a loyal customer at Van Buren Gentleman’s Salon for over a year, but after today’s experience, I’m seriously reconsidering ever coming back. I arrived just five minutes late though informed prior, and instead of handling the situation with professionalism and courtesy, Cassie and Brielle treated me with outright rudeness. Without so much as a heads-up, they decided to skip the shampooing—something that’s a basic part of the service. When I questioned it, there was no apology, no effort to accommodate, and certainly no interest in pushing my appointment or offering a reschedule. Just cold, dismissive attitudes as if my time and loyalty meant nothing. Is this how you treat a returning customer? No flexibility, no understanding, just pure disregard? It’s ridiculous and unacceptable. A business that prides itself on gentleman’s service should know that respect and hospitality go a long way. I expected much better from this place, but today was nothing short of a disappointment. PS: I shall ask none of my friends and family to visit this place ever again as all of them have been visiting since quite some time due to my recommendation. Please don’t tell that there is no customer with the name: Rahul as the name provided was Pran S.

Booked a day in advance using the Vagaro app and a credit card. Made for fast check in and out when done. The music was electronic and not too loud, a nice departure from the regular pop. No red wine.. hope you like IPAs

Brielle Christopherson absolutely killed it! I had some time at lunch to haircut so decided to try something new and check out Van Buren Gentlemen’s salon. Brielle was prompt, welcoming and quick. I love my haircut and will most certainly be a returning customer. Thank you!

I have been going Van Buren for haircuts for a few months now, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the moment I walk in, I feel welcomed and at ease. I've had nothing but amazing experiences at Van Buren with Brielle! As someone who recently relocated to Chicago and had been with the same stylist for over 10 years, I was understandably nervous about finding a new salon. Brielle put all my concerns to rest. She took the time to really listen to what I was looking for, asked thoughtful questions to ensure she understood my vision, and executed my cut(s) perfectly. I haven't gone anywhere else since and won’t be looking for another stylist during my time in Illinois. Been going here for two years. Sandra is the best men’s stylist I have ever been too, the attention to detail is unparalleled for what you ask / get in a haircut. The rest of the barber staff also provides the same detail to attention and quality of service. The salon is very well managed from the customer service desk up front with booking appointments out weeks to months ahead of time for short 15-minute touch ups to haircut appointments, which is important to someone like me with a busy schedule. Along with keeping the place very clean and well organized. They also have great shoe shine service which adds to the institution and allows you to leave with both polished looking hair and shoes. Can even get a great glass of bourbon while you’re getting trimmed up. Highly recommend, especially the three month memberships, very much a steal as a regular!

I've been going to Van Buren's for a couple of years now and they offer a great experience. I see Brielle for beard trims and she's very skilled and knowledgeable and has improved my look. Highly recommend!

Kevin crushed it. My hair is a little hard to cut due to my large forhead. Kevin gave me the perfect fade while keeping the length and it looks amazing. I could tell Kevin was very detail oriented and ensured a hair was not out of place. highly recommend

They fixed my haircut from another place, I'm satisfied. Very knowledgeable women who can cut men's hair well. Very demure in the details all around. Cash preferred. I gladly leave cash tip.

I'd give this place 4.5 stars if I could, really nice location, easy to get to (though I did walk past it lol), managed my being late (pink line was reversed and I, a dumb visitor did not process what that meant). Did a great job with the haircut, solid job on the shave. Good relaxing process. Did end up missing a few long hairs and the tipping being not via card felt weird. But still, really nice place!

This is an awesome salon with a great and friendly staff. Anthony Stewart is a very talented barber who is able to do a variety of styles and haircuts on any type of hair. He is friendly and pays attention to every detail. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for exceptional service.

Anthony Stewart 0/5 - had a haircut with this unprofessional stylist yesterday. The worst experience ever, I showed him a picture before the haircut - we confirmed 2 to 3 times about the haircut I was looking for i.e.Short Pompadour. My final haircut was completely different - he got my hair to almost a buzzcut.. i showed him the picture again and told him this is not what i was expecting.. and i was disappointed.. He starts asking me get out of his chair and leave, even asked me to get the 'F' out.. The lady at the counter Cassie came to help, was amazing, excellent service - she was kind enough to get me some time with Sandra - she's good, fixed my hair to as much as she could - but there wasnt any hair left so she couldnt do much as well - but very thankful to her (tipped her $25). I spoke to Jose as well, he even apologized for what happened.. and was willing to help me fix my hair.. But Anthony Stewart didnt even have the courtesy to apologize, he kept giggling and saying I was there for a free haircut. Just a heads up for all of you!
