Got a weird text message threatening me, talking about my personal life, disparaging me and trying to get me banned from an app I’ve used without issue for 5 years (thankfully they saw this for what it was, a simple disagreement). All over a bad review and a $75 dispute. Just the weirdest situation I’ve dealt with from a “professional”. I never even planned to go back after the dispute and was going to leave it at that, but her reaction was just in very bad taste.

Antonia is THE BEST! I had a 6am appointment and she was there and I did not have to wait. She is very detailed and knows a great deal for natural hair care. She has a sunny disposition and is very in tuned to understanding my hair and the best care that it needs.

I’ve been a client at Van Cleef for over 30 years and after the sale of the business by the original owners a few years ago I decided to continue with a new stylist and owner Antonia. Pricing has slightly increased over the past year but that’s happened in almost every industry. The service I service and staff are professional. As a male client I’m always satisfied with the results.

Van Cleef Hair Studio has quickly become my go to place! The staff is always so warm, welcoming, and attentive. Not to mention PROFESSIONAL! I haven’t had the best experiences with salons in recent years, so Antonia and her team have been a God send for sure. I would recommend them 5 stars ⭐️ Thank you Antonia! See ya in a few weeks 😁😁😁

Got a trim and silk press from Tamara and she did an incredible job. Easily the best silk press I have ever gotten, virtually no frizz and super flat roots!

I found this place after lots and lots of research and I can confidently say this will be the only salon I go to! Every stylist is fantastic and listens to exactly what you want. The service is wonderful and the environment is so amazing. I wish I could rate it higher! 11/10!

Love ths hairstylists at this place. More on the luxury side of the pricing, but it is well worth it if you can save up the money. Antonia is the best.

Was unsatisfied with my silk press service. The stylist used a different method even after I brought up the usual silk press technique. I’ve been getting silk presses for years and this was a very unsatisfactory result. I brought up to her that I wasn’t happy with the result and she mentioned she had her own process. I’m fine with stylist using different techniques/creative liberties but if it has a different result than the service requested (and paid for) then that’s an issue.

They ruined my hair. I should have listened to the negative reviews, especially the last one regarding hair color. I made the mistake of getting my hair colored at this salon. Now, half my hair is gone. To be fair I was transitioning from a dark to light color. The 1st and 2nd color appointments seemed ok. I styled my hair just 1 time using a hot tool and all was good. Then, I went into a protective style for about 5 - 6 weeks where I had a head full of healthy hair. This style was also done by this salon. When I took the style out I did use a hot tool/blow dried my hair. I noticed before washing my hair or anything it seemed different but I summed it up to shrinkage. The next day I returned to this salon for coloring again to try to reach my preferred look. At the point when I was being styled and done I was shocked because my hair was significantly broken off and shorter. The stylist suggested cutting it shorter almost ear length. Thank God I decided against this because it would have made it much worse because it is uneven. I think the stylist offered a terrible suggestion. In the moment I was trying to make sense of what could have happened and trying to be fair. Of course, when I mentioned using a hot tool on my own the stylist focused on that as the cause. I don't think it was my hot tool alone because I used heat protection and I only did this 1x. I suspect my hair loss is because of this salon but maybe my use of heat might have just made their damage worse. I believe I probably should have waited longer to color again. I question if the protective style this salon installed and said was okay put too much tension on my hair that may have been too fragile because of multiple bleaching. I was going to return for another protective style until I learned their method which I think would have damaged my hair more. I did consult with other salons to fix this mess of my hair now and...I found I was likely correct about some of my concerns. Not to mention the stylist who did my hair was very upbeat and acted very confident but...her silk press was not the greatest. Even before my hair got damaged the silk press was not sleek. The only reason I stayed calm was because I genuinely was trying to figure out what went wrong. I am glad I canceled any future appointments and I am with a new salon/stylist that is more skilled. Not to mention I easily blew about $2,000 only to have hair loss. This is because this salon is over priced for their real skill set. I'll pay someone's price but please truly understand hair care. I didn't make any formal complaint which I should have. I have decided to move on since a little time has passed now. But, I am angry and annoyed with outcome of my hair. Proceed with caution. UPDATE: Adding more comments mostly for potential clients because I wish the salon stylist told me this beforehand. Breakage from bleaching may happen days or weeks later after the service. You may think all is well when it isn't. In my case, I do believe the salon should have noted this. Despite having my hair bleached about 3 different times a few weeks apart it was still risky. As I stated in my initial review placing my hair in a "protective style" like braiding for weeks probably added tension to my weakened hair from bleaching and offers some explanation for my breakage once the protective style was taken out. It would have been helpful if the stylist suggested giving my hair more time to recover from the multiple bleaching. I wanted a natural looking color but ended up with literally 4 different colors in my hair for a very unnatural appearance. I believe there is a better way to get a more natural looking dimensional blended look than what the stylist did. Going from very dark hair to blonde in one setting or weeks apart may not be safe. Giving much more time might be helpful. The stylist told me she'd bleached very dark hair before successfully which motivated me to try. Moral of the story if it sounds too good to be true...it isn't.

Unpleasant experience Did one haircut with Antonio , she is superb and very good at her job, pleasant and social However, the management system is horrible , I had to wait 30 minutes for my haircut although I reached there on time Still, I gave another chance, tried to go for a second haircut. I booked appointment on a Saturday via telephone ,called to confirm on the day of my appointment and turns out there’s no appointment at all. Overall, very frustrating experience and now have finally decided not to go to Van cleef at all to avoid frustration and time loss

I would like to say that I love love love this salon, the people are very friendly and the and stylist are very knowledgeable about hair. They also listen to you when you are telling them about your ideas for your hair, such as coloring, cutting, and protective styles etc. Ultimately being the professionals that they are they help to get you to the best and safest solution for your hair and have never to my knowledge over permed, over processed or applied excessive tension to my hair. To the contrary my hair is healthier now since I have been going to Van Cleef than it was before I started. The owner, Antonia Turner is awesome. She is so kind and compassionate and really cares about the client's overall experience. Don't take my word for it. Schedule your appointment today and see for yourself. The staff are so professional, warm and knowledgeable. My appointment started on time and Gina made my damaged hair look better! She also advised me on the different types of hair color and relaxers and what shouldn't be used together. I will return.
