This place is an institution with dozens of well trained and competent hair dressers. Feels like a proper big city salon. Clean, bright and minimalist atmosphere with a friendly staff who offer drinks and smiles. Whether you’re man, woman, or child they do everything in their power to make you feel like a beautiful princess. Love this place. Highly recommend.

Book your color with Abby L! She is a fantastic stylist and was critical in helping me achieve my hair goals! I wanted a rich chocolate balayage to give my hair a dimensional sun kissed look. I also needed it to be low maintenance because I’m always on the go. I told her my wishes and she delivered! It’s been 2 months since my appointment and I can’t stop looking at my hair! I’m always receiving compliments too. I’m always happy to refer anyone to her. I couldn’t recommend her enough! She’s professional, timely, and an expert at her craft. She nailed it! BOOK ABBY!!! I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Van Michael Salon, which, unfortunately, did not meet the high standards one would expect from such an esteemed establishment. Having frequented various upscale salons, I anticipated a level of service that aligned with the premium prices. Regrettably, my experience was marred by a noticeable lack of empathy and professionalism from the staff, particularly from Lori, the manager. The only exception to this disappointing treatment was the front desk receptionist, who maintained a commendable level of care and professionalism throughout. The incident in question involved my sunglasses, a pair of Celine oval-shaped all-gold sunglasses valued at around $600 (I mention the cost not to boast, but to provide context for this matter), which I inadvertently left at the salon this past Friday. When I got home and realized they were missing, I was certain they had to be at the salon since I had gone straight from there to home without any stops. I immediately called to inquire about my glasses. During my first conversation with Lori, her lack of concern was surprising for someone in her position at such a prestigious salon. She assured me that she would pull the surveillance tapes and follow up with me, but I never received a call back. Feeling frustrated and anxious about my missing sunglasses, I decided to visit the salon the next day. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant and reassuring. Although I was informed that Lori was not working that day, she promised to help find my glasses, as she vividly remembered me wearing them. She passed my information along to another manager who also promised to follow up with me. Since the salon was closed on Sunday, I waited for a call. However, when Monday came and I still hadn’t heard from anyone, I called again, only to be informed that managers do not work on Mondays. Finally, on Tuesday, I received a call from Lori, who informed me that my sunglasses had NOT been found. I then asked her if she had pulled the tapes as she had promised. Midway through our conversation, she abruptly changed her tone and stated that the assistant had just located them while we were on the phone. This sudden shift raised significant concerns. From the very first moment I reached out, it seemed there was a lack of genuine concern regarding the situation. It became evident that my intuition was correct; there was more to the story about these “missing” sunglasses. When I arrived to collect them, I was never greeted by anyone from management. Instead, I was directed by another employee to walk over to the receptionist's desk to retrieve my glasses. Eventually, I was helped by the same receptionist who had assisted me the day I dropped in. She was friendly and welcoming, which was a relief amidst the overall lack of management engagement. The absence of a proper greeting from anyone in management, particularly after the ordeal I had been through, was extremely disappointing and significantly diminished my expectations of the salon's professionalism and tact. As a client, I would have anticipated a higher level of attentiveness and understanding regarding my situation. While I appreciate the efforts of the front desk receptionist, I hope that the other staff members, especially those in management, recognize the importance of their roles in shaping client perceptions and experiences. A premium salon should embody the values of courtesy, respect, and attentiveness, and I sincerely hope that Van Michael Salon can work towards achieving these standards in the future. Based on my experience, I feel confident in saying that I wasn’t the first person to encounter issues with a “missing” item, and I won’t be the last unless there is a shift in the way the salon is being run. It is essential for management to focus on improving their service, as the reputation of a prestigious salon is built not just on the quality of its services but also on the quality of its customer care.

I scheduled an appointment with one of their new talent stylists, Vikki. She was very sweet and took her time with my hair cut. I rarely go to a salon. I'm glad I decided to treat myself! She offered me a head and shoulder massage but I declined. Next time I will definitely take advantage of it! Thanks Vikki! Happy New Year! 😊

I have had a wonderful experience at all of the Van Michael salons, but especially love the Buckhead location! I recently went in for a color and ended up getting a pretty bad skin reaction from a gloss that was used (I felt it burning and didn’t say anything so it was definitely on me). Anyway, VM’s handling of the situation has been PHENOMENAL. The colorist followed up with me personally, as well as the general manager, and the salon offered to cover my medical expenses if I needed to see a doctor. Besides my hair looking stunning, they just provide a very top notch level of service that I haven’t seen at any other salon. Thank you Van Michael!

One of the best things to come out of 2024 was finding Pepper to cut my curly hair. She’s been cutting my hair since January — and, seriously, my hair has never looked better. Over the course of about six appointments, Pepper has developed a lovely relationship with my hair, based on understanding and acceptance. She is a master artist. And a lovely human. PS I’m writing this review three weeks after my last appointment.

I have gone to this locations several times and have only had positive experiences with the stylists. This review is concerning the ethics of this location (and perhaps VM as a whole). Story time: I had an appt on a Friday morning. Accidentally left my $50 Stanley tumbler at the drink station. Upon realizing my mistake that afternoon, I called and asked if it was still there and was told yes and that it had been set aside. Unable to get to the salon before closing that day and it being closed on Sunday, I went in I believe the following morning. After drawing out and describing the tumbler, the woman behind the desk said she remembered it because she was the one who found it and placed it aside. Now, however, it was nowhere to be found. She offered to search for the next few days (Friday) and if it couldn't be located they would reimburse me the cost. They contacted me more than a full week later saying it was lost and offered me a $50 credit to be applied to my next service. If it was never in their possession, then yes the responsibility to replace would naturally fall on me; however, it was lost while in their admitted possession, supposedly in an area to which only their staff has access... you do the math. Regardless of any unfounded - albeit likely - speculation, I prefer not to patronize this establishment again since I personally abhor the practice of denying accountability for one's actions. So, in the end, I'm out $50 and this location is out hundreds in my future business.

I've been going to the salon for a couple of years now and it's my favorite place to treat myself. Everyone is so warm and welcome and they make you feel special. Cooper is the best colorist I've ever had. He knows exactly what you need when you're explaining a certain type of color you trying to achieve. He really makes you feel comfortable and he's such a doll!!! I love that Van Michaels includes the blow dry with your color, not many places do that. I think their prices are pretty standard for a higher end salon, and it's worth every penny. Shari

Maxwell was amazing!! I had no plans to get my hair colored and went there along with my hubby for his service. I instantly loved the vibe of the place and was interested in coloring my hair! It was so seamless. The check in to check out is so Seamless. I googled an image and showed Maxwell and she did her magic. I left feeling a million bucks and my friends love my new hair color n styling . Thank you team Van Michael salon. I wish I could fly in everytime I want a service. My daughter had an appointment booked at 12pm with Zoe. She drove from Athens and accidentally put the wrong address in navigation ending up at the wrong Van Michaels. I had booked 120 minutes with Zoe. My daughter arrived exactly 40 minutes behind schedule due to a navigation mistake. The front desk was rude and we will never come back to Van Michael's! This salon is rigid and doesn't work with you! There was plenty of time for her to get a partial without a blowdry based on what had been booked.

Love coming here to have my hair done. It's a real luxury. If you want to treat yourself to a special haircut, I would recommend going here. Worth it!
