I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism I experienced at the salon today. I scheduled with Veronica and she moved my appointment twice and once I arrived, she wasn’t even there. I put in my appointment notes I wanted to go copper and the salon didn’t even have the back bar supplies to perform my service. I left without receiving any service at all. I was looking forward to supporting a local business however, first impressions are lasting impressions.

Do not walk, but run away from this place. It is dirty, it smells and I received the weirdest and worst haircut of my life. I should have figured it was a bad decision when there were 0 other customers.

Veronica is my hair fairy godmother she took my hair from omg to beautiful in matter of hours.Now she makes magic every couple of weeks for 1 hour for my hair thanks for taking me on Veronica. I get so many compliments on my color and style everyone says you really did a change it’s looks amazing.Nura has made my eyebrows look awesome for going on 6yrs now. This technique of hers for the face to make it glow is wild. If you haven’t been to Viva La Frida Salon yet you’re probably wasting your time at other salons! Ron and don’t walk plus it will also remind you need kinda start taking time for yourself again to let your beauty shine brighter! Plus they have all these cool Wellness events like the one coming up on June 8 telling you about beauty trends and complimentary hair gifts!

I come to Chicago quite a bit from Oregon and stay just few minutes away from the salon. I have always gotten my hair done here by Veronica and Alejandro, which go out of their way to make you look fabulous. Love their professionalism and expert styling, would recommend and I keep coming here.

I first went for a haircut that I won in a raffle. While there, my stylist Veronica suggested I get some highlights so I came back and took her up on it. I got the highlights and a henna treatment and I'm in love with it all. Their boutique of Frida memorabilia is so beautiful. Viva la Frida Salon is a whole experience! Thank you ladies ❤️

I had a great experience at Viva La Frida salon. The staff was very professional and friendly. The salon had a good atmosphere with lots of Frida decor. The stylist did an amazing job with my hair, and I was very happy with the result. They also worked on my eyebrows and they turned out wonderful. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking for a quality service and a welcoming environment.

Im lucky enough to find this salon, I really love my hair cut! First time here! Thanks to Alejandro for being very patience with my hair, since its so thick and i have a lot. He actually understood me when I said I don’t want a bold cut. I would definitely recommend him! and I will definitely go back!

Paiker Hussain did a fantastic job with my hair & makeup for a wedding. I’ve been going to her for years (eyebrow threading, facials, bridal hair & makeup, haircut, etc), she always makes me look my best. A wonderful woman on top of her great talent.

The entire team that works in the salon is very professional and friendly. You don't have to be looking for where to get a wax or a facial. You can schedule everything in one place. Todo el equipo que trabaja en el salon es muy profesional y amigable. No tienes que estar buscando en donde hacerte una depilacion o un facial. Todo lo puedes agendar en un solo lugar.

Veronica (owner) is a great colorist and stylist and so nice to work with. I’ve been going to her for almost ten years now! She will try to give you what you want but if it’s not exactly right, she’s helpful in figuring it out with you! Lovely salon on Milwaukee Ave with gorgeous Frida artwork! A gem! They also have a boutique with Frida inspired products! She now has someone to do nose piercing as well as threading by appointment!

Viva la Frida! I really love this salon! The front of the space has a boutique shopping feel with Frida Kahlo gifts and tons of unique items. The rest of the space is a full-service salon! In one visit, I went from drab to fab. The Salon owner, Veronica corrected my DIY balayage. Now my hair feels healthy and looks awesome! Paiker threaded and tinted my eyebrows to perfection! I hear they also offer facials and lash extensions too! Sign me up!

When scheduling, my appointment was constantly being shuffled around. My appointment changed at least 6 times, and I was only told about my new appointment after they'd scheduled it. There were 3 changes the DAY OF the appointment. I went in to get my hair done, and found that it was more like a small shop with a salon section in the back. What they were selling looked nice (cultural bags and accessories as well as Frida Kahlo merch) but I wasn't expecting the store to be present. When I got my hair done, I wasn't really able to communicate what I wanted. I took my glasses off, and had to stop them from doing a blowout because I like my hair natural (curly). When I put them back on I was disappointed. I paid with a Groupon but would have had a cheaper and better experience going to Supercuts or a similar chain. Just as a side note, I knew that the shop was catered to customers who might have had Spanish as their first language, but I didn't know that there wasn't really anybody fluent in English. This isn't related to my one-star rating, but if you don't speak fluent Spanish (my Spanish is decent but not perfect) you will not be able to communicate effectively with the staff nor will they be able to talk to you during the cut.

DO NOT GO HERE! Veronica ruined my hair she DOES NOT KNOW what she is doing. The salon smells of mold and she rushes through the process without even being careful of what she is doing. I will never come back! Go to a professional! Veronica is not good!

This was my first time here and Veronica gave me a great hair cut. She listened to what I was saying, knew exactly what to do, and was very through and efficient! The space is eclectic and warm. Veronica was very pleasant and wore a mask. It was a wonderful experience overall. She will be doing my color this week. I have full faith she will do another excellent job!

I had such great experience with Alejandro, I chose to schedule my appointment with him because of his great reviews and I was able to experience that. Definitely recommend him. Will be back soon! Great place to try!!!!

It took me a very long time to write this review because I felt that doing so would betray a formerly “very good” bond I felt I had developed with a stylist. After struggling with how I felt about this for some time now, I realize I did nothing wrong and there was very poor skills in handling the mishap on the salon’s and unfortunately the stylist’s part. In a nutshell, I wanted an ombré that would take me from very dark to very light and would take a LOT of time along with close consulting with the stylist even to schedule. I called the salon and the receptionist said she would call me to put something in the books after speaking with the stylist **ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF MY WEIRD SCHEDULE DUE TO A 1 YEAR OKD SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD SND MY HUSBANDS SCHEDULE FOR WORK** The receptionist never called me back but scheduled me for the specific time frame I purposely let her know I could NOT be there for. The day came and I got a message from the stylist letting me know she was waiting for me, I explained nothing had been scheduled because I never got a call back and she said that they had schedule me for the previously discussed time frame which was set for when I said I could not be there at all. I felt horrible because this was about a 4hour appointment and she clearly lost out on other work she could have been doing, but this was not my fault. I never made a commitment to a time I knew I could never make. The stylist made a point ro remind me of how much she lost out on and tell me pretty much that she was siding with her receptionist because she knew her longer and I guess in her eyes could have never made such a mistake. It just HAD to be me through was irresponsible. For this reason I never went back. Sometimes you have to trust your customers. Sometimes workers make mistakes and it isn’t ok to not take responsibility for anything.
