Ray is INCREDIBLE! If you’re looking through the reviews to decide whether to go with this place for facial or massage, this is a sign: go for it! I stumbled upon this studio on Classpass and had excess credits to use up; I didn’t know what to expect but WOW, I was blown away by his services. I had a facial and he informed me there would be some massage elements, but I didn’t expect it to be so good: perfect pressure and excellent technique. I’m from Asia where massage culture is everywhere and grew up having massages— Ray’s skill is the best I’ve come across. The facial was also so relaxing and thorough! Definitely planning to come back. SPACE: The studio is beautiful, luxurious, and clean. The building it’s in is also clean and very formal. There’s bathrooms down the hall. SERVICE PROVIDER: You can tell Ray takes a lot of pride in his work and business, and has spent a lot of time educating and up-skilling himself. He’s professional, gentle, and straightforward. No upselling or strings attached too. As a woman, I felt totally safe and immediately sensed Ray was trustworthy. NOTE: One thing to note is that if you’re having a facial, expect for a questionnaire at the start. With the questionnaire etc, the appointment was about 15-20min longer than the 75min facial. No issue for me as it showed me the time was well spent, but plan in advance etc as I had to rush off to a meeting. I think the questionnaire was an ethical thing, and may also just be for newcomers; not sure. + POC-owned if that matters to you! Support support support 🥰

Starting 2025 on the right foot. I had some cancellations in my day and booked a last min 75min session with Ray at Volonte. Everything was perfect - great pressure, attention to tight areas, made sure I was cozy and comfortable the whole way. I walked out a new person and looking forward to my next session. Definitely worth coming downtown for!

Volonte is a hidden gem in the heart of SF! I’d say one of the best massages I’ve had in my life, Ray does an amazing job at adjusting the pressure and style depending on how tight the areas of your body are. Definitely go for 90 minutes over 60, it’s worth it! The space is chic, comfortable, and bright with a lot of thoughtful details and textures to make it feel so welcoming. Ray also carries this thoughtfulness into his services by adding in some amazing details -like hello eye treatment after you go from face down to up so you’re not so puffy afterwards! 5 stars all around!

Ray is phenomenal! He listened carefully to my concerns and created a custom athletic massage to fit my needs. I lift very heavy weights, often skip stretching and warmup, and tend to overtrain without spending proper time on recovery — he understood that, went above and beyond to help identify the root of the problem with each muscle pain, and even went overtime. He’s very knowledgeable and willing to explain why these issues build up, and how to prevent them. Highly recommend!

About one month ago I was in SanFrancisco on holiday and after 3 weeks travelling and driving, I needed a massage. I came across the Volente massage website and made a booking. The experience was beautiful - so relaxing yet firm and caring. Beautiful ambience in Ray’s room and the building is historical too. Thank you so much for your wonderful massage ❤️

This was an amazing massage. The room was perfect; no noise, the masseur listened first to what I needed and adapted to that. Fabulous massage especially after a few days of very heavy walking !

5 star experience from start to finish, I've had many many massage but this one was one of the best! Super lovely little studio that's beautifully designed and makes you feel comfortable straight away. He made me feel looked after and the massage itself was personalized and exactly what I needed for my sore back from travelling. He goes above and beyond for his customers and I would recommend him in a heartbeat! Thanks so much for your magic :)

Exceptional experience with Ray. The customization and explanation of techniques and areas of tension identified was incredibly helpful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the space and the little touches like coconut water and sound and aromatherapy elements. Highly recommend.

By far, one of the best massages I’ve ever had! Ray took his time to work on all the issues I had. Went above and beyond to help me stretch and relax my muscles. The location is perfect. One of the most iconic buildings in San Francisco. His studio is lovely. I can’t recommend him enough. Take advantage of his special first-time visit for Bay Area residents. I can’t wait to go back!

I feel so lucky to have been able to get an appointment and massage here. This gentleman gave one of the best massages I have ever had. If I lived in San Francisco I would be here weekly. This is one of THE BEST massages I’ve ever had. Bill asked questions before the massage to establish rapport and comfort, but also to understand what my goals were for the visit. He checked in with me throughout the massage. The massage I chose was to get out as many knots as possible - it was very firm and deep. When I got up from the table, I felt like I had a completely new body!!!!

Had the best experience. I was travelling for a conference and after 24 hours on a plane my body was aching. I found this place on google, the reviews were good and I decided to give it a chance. I was so happy with the treatment, it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Ray was an incredible masseuse, and he was able to relieve all the pain I had. Highly recommend!

Hands down one of my top three massages-ever. Maybe even the best. I was in SF for a trade show at the conference center. All day on my feet. My legs and especially my back had chronic pain. Ray gave me such a good massage that I booked another appointment the next day. I had two of the best nights sleep after Ray worked his magic. Intuitive, smart and kind. I'm home and have zero pain anywhere in my body. Please support Gratitude massage as I need them to heal me on my next visit to SF. I have so much GRATITUDE to have been able to schedule a same-day massage that was at the level of mastery Ray exhibited. His intuitive touch coupled with his many years working in luxury resort settings created an experience that was wholly unique & sublime. Of course, there was the complimentary aromatherapy, chocolates, hot towels, etc, but it was the massage itself that was out of this world… something about the flow & the energy. The entire time on the table, I couldn’t help but think: this is an art form, and this man is an artist. Thank you, Ray! Received a last minute massage from Jane …made the reservation at 11am for a 4pm massage. The massage room was very professional and comfortable, great ambiance and nice music system. The massage was awesome…very very effective for what I needed. I’m a surfer ..live in Hawaii …and just flew in SF yesterday. Two days before I left home my body got kinda wrenched (screwed up) by a wipeout that compressed my neck and lower back. Jane worked on me …deep tissue massage and then stretched me in a twist position and worked into me even more. Was the most unique massage ever, completely different than your standard run a dub massages from most places. If you like or need a deep body massage, I’d recommend Gratitude Massage Therapy. Thank u Jane for the awesome back/neck and stretching massage !

Was able to get in for a last minute massage. Very easy to book online. Bill was attentive and detail oriented, and often checked in during the process. My neck and shoulder pain were much better afterwards! Will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend.
