If you had a bad experience in a sauna and want to write a review without mentioning medicine, you can focus on aspects like cleanliness, temperature control, staff behavior, safety measures, and overall comfort. Here’s an example: Title: Disappointing and Unsafe Experience I recently visited this sauna, expecting a relaxing experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in several ways. Additionally, the cleanliness was not up to standard. The floors were slippery, and the seating areas didn’t seem properly sanitized. To make matters worse, staff were either inattentive or dismissive when concerns were raised Here’s a review focusing on the lack of assistance when someone feels unwell in the sauna What’s even more alarming is that there was no basic first aid or support for guests who might need help. In a high-heat environment like a sauna, safety should be a priority, but it felt like there was no emergency protocol at all. This place needs serious improvements in staff training, safety measures, and guest care. Until these issues are addressed, I would not recommend visiting. A sauna should be a place of relaxation and wellness, but this visit left me feeling worse rather than refreshed. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves the overall experience. I wouldn’t recommend it in its current state.

I was there today for the first time. The place is not new but it’s clean, everyone is nice and you can get clean/dry towels as needed, there are few different sauna rooms, infrared room cold room a pool, jacuzzi and steam room, cold plunges and showers. The changing room is simple but you need to bring your shampoo etc They have plenty of space to chill and a yummy Russian food restaurant, price is fair! Will return for sure.

I’ve enjoyed this authentic Russian spa in winter months for 23 years. I’ve introduced friends, family and colleagues...ALL enjoyed and returned on their own. It’s simple, grab your towels/slippers or bring your own. They give you towels to use for hot/wet surfaces, head covers for heat protection AND they are laundered throughout the day. Yes, they are rough and lose their color from the dryers. You can rent a robe or bring your own. Slippers are not required, are free, no size guarantee and best to bring your own. Start in the larger sauna taking quick breaks from heat with quick cold shower for the first 20 min which is located outside of sauna to open and close your pores. This allows you to tolerate more heat helping toxins to leave body. Enjoy tea, juices and water and save alcohol and food for after you’ve had a few visits to sauna...otherwise you may feel nausea. Alternate between different rooms for variety...however, personally, I feel the most benefits come from the large sauna and steam rooms. My only complaint are the younger groups of the inexperienced who now come. You talk too much and are too loud in these treatment rooms. This is not an extension of your lounge table...it’s meant for relaxation and not loud conversations. So shut UP inside the saunas!! The restaurant serves very traditional simple Russian food...it’s consistently good and reasonably priced and they have assorted alcohol beverages at the juice bar. It’s a really good juice bar serving pots of assorted tea blends and snacks. Reserve a rental cushioned booth for personal space or sit in the free open area that has tables and chairs. You can ask to share a table if it’s busy. This is NOT a “luxury” spa...it’s a cave, and a damn good one!!! The staff is polite and respectful if you are. Try smiling and asking them “how are you today?” In all my years, they have never been rude. Also, yes, you “may” see a waterbug...it’s an old building and bugs are attracted to water. I have personally never seen an infestation of them or rats or roaches that I read in reviews. I think people who post these negative comments had a personal gripe about something during their visit..it is likely you expected too much. I do promise that if you go with a positive attitude and keep the luxury amenities and alcoholic happy hour mentality at home...you will leave feeling luxuriously rejuvenated after a few hours in the rooms. There is a heated pool and jacuzzi. And remember, the staff is there to place your orders, recycle your towels and keep the rooms hot ...YOU are responsible for your relaxation and happiness.

I wonder how this place has so many good feedback but I’m going to be transparent about spa88. Unfortunately what I experienced is not what I expected for sure since I’ve been to a lot of banyas before. The LEAST you want to get is a clean facility. I don’t want to emphasize how outdated this place is and that it needs so much repair and improvement everywhere including pool area, dining room, lounge zone and so on. Smell of mold is unacceptable factor in banya I think and I smelled it everywhere! Besides that how come is it allowed to smoke weed and cigarettes in a closed facility, some people are actually allergic to it? The only good part was food BUT service sucks, plates were never taken once we finished our meal, nothing was cleaned, servers don’t even care what’s going on because they just chill sitting at their own table. Seems to me that nobody actually cares how the place operates because that’s not what you supposed to get for the amount of money you pay.

I’ve been coming here for years but this experience left me questioning if I’ll be back. I walked into the cold plunge pool and felt something sharp on my left foot and when I got out I saw I was bleeding and had cut my toe. I told the workers who got me a bandage and I notified the women working upstairs that there was something sharp and blood in the cold plunge pool and they did nothing about it and did not tell any guests. It makes me question the cleanliness of the facility all together. They should have drained the plunge pool, cleaned it and looked for whatever sharp object cut me. They didn’t even apologize for it

The saunas are great, but the place is kind of gross. Not going back

Financial District sister to east village style Russian Turkish bath. This is my go-to spot when I'm in nyc. It's not perfect but it's great. Cold plunge and buckets are cold. Rooms are hot. Always an interesting cast of characters. Enjoy

I had a very disappointing experience at this bathhouse. The place is extremely dirty, and there’s a strong unpleasant smell throughout. The shoes they provide are filthy, and the downstairs area reeks of urine. The pool water doesn’t seem to be properly cleaned or treated—it felt like they rarely change it. On top of that, the drinks are ridiculously overpriced. After spending over $100 per person, I left feeling completely unsatisfied and unhappy with the entire experience. Nothing about this place met basic standards of cleanliness or comfort. I DO NOT recommend it.

Not bad for what it is. The saunas are very hot, the steam room is steamy, and the cold plunge is no joke. The Russian food is decent, but the place is not very clean.

В итоге я доволен: немного обсчитали, немного нахамили - в общем как дома побывал)) Не хватает общепринятых норм и правил поведения в парилке - в то время как одному холодно другому жарко и начинаются споры поддавать или не поддавать парку.

Good banya and food, but it requires renovation. I saw cockroaches and it’s a lack of sits to spend time with friends.

I went there for a massage and they make you charge into a long Terry cloth bathrobe and slippers and then they bring you into a room where your told to get under a sheet and a blanket and they remove the blanket down to your waist and your still under the blanket and a sheet the only parts that's not exposed out is the body parts that are covered up.
