Arlo has been cutting my teenage son's hair for the past 2 years and they are fantastic! They listen to what he wants, make him feel really comfortable and have consistently given him great haircuts.

Came here for a haircut with So and they absolutely killed it! We started with a great consultation that made me feel like they really understood my hair and the style I was after. I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed, as if I had been going to So for a long time. The haircut itself was skilled and thoughtful—So saw my vision clearly and gave me the shaggy, androgynous cut I had wanted for a long time. I was impressed at how much texture they were able to bring out in my pin straight hair! 5/5 stars for an enjoyable, COVID-safe experience. Already booked for my next cut.

Just had my first cut with So Mak, and it was wonderful. We spent the first 5-10 minutes chatting about what I wanted out of the session and what would suit my hair best, and they pulled up some reference photos to help us both visualize the end result. So really took the time to listen and understand what it was I was looking for, and they were just as attentive and conscientious through each step of the process. I never felt like things were being rushed, and they checked in with me through the cut and styling to make sure that I was happy with the way my hair was turning out. And it turned out exactly how I had hoped it would! I'm very grateful for So and their dedication to their craft. I walked out of the salon feeling confident and happy, and I got so many compliments on the way home!

My first time working with So Mak and definitely not my last! They were so accommodating and affirming, and took time to pause throughout the session to check-in and ask questions. As someone who doesn't always know what to ask for/how to describe what I want, it was unbelievably helpful to have someone willing to take the time to explain things and ask follow-up questions. I was able to be experimental with my cut in a way I didn't feel confident asking for before, and absolutely LOVE it. Excited for my next visit!

I’m someone who’s gotten my haircut only a handful of times at a salon before, mostly because I have a hard time describing what I want and having it be affirmed by the hair stylist, but So Mak went above and beyond to listen to what I hoped for and made my dreams come true!! From a no-layers straightedge hairstyle to a beautiful long shag with bangs, I left feeling transformed in a way that felt so authentic to how I see myself, with lovely conversation throughout. Best haircut I’ve had, hands-down. And I so appreciated the covid-conscious masking and the incredible playlist. Only going here from now on!!

So Mak has been my go to barber for years. Before when I used to get my haircut, I would go from barber to barber, feeling like my input about my hair would go in one ear and out the other. Eventually I got tired of barbers who didn’t hear me, and decided to look online for a barber. I found So, and ever since they’ve been my go to barber! Through discussing and listening to my input about my hair, I’ve found a cut and style that I consistently like. And, when I want to experiment, like when I tried a modern mullet, So helped me get a good understand of how my ideas about my hair will translate into the finished product. Would absolutely recommend So Mak and Wavelength barber!

When I first went to So, I was growing my hair out from a pixie cut, which can be an awkward and unpredictable process. So made it feel effortless. So Mak is my favorite hair stylist I’ve worked with in my 10 years of living in NYC, Lenapehoking. I’m so grateful for their patience and feedback as we discussed different hairstyles and pinned down something we both thought would look great. As a recent cancer survivor, I was looking for a Covid-19 conscious hairstylist to help me with my post-chemo regrowth. A Google search led me to Cuts by So at Wavelength Barber & Salon - a quick walk from my apt. and with their Covid-19 precautions & rules outlined on their website, I knew I would feel safe in So's chair. I look forward to returning as my hair keeps growing after my cancer treatment.

I found out about this place after my barber, So, transferred here. Wavelength is a super cool space, tucked into a building that seems to be shared with other creatives. The decor is nice and airy, and it’s a safe, queer space. It is a bit hard to find their room, but they’ll give you instructions beforehand! I go to So for my cuts! They were the first barber I’ve ever had, and has always been super accommodating even back in their previous location. So just gets it when you want, and is super welcoming and knowledgeable when it comes to hair. I had always felt like there was some sort of gender barrier when it came to barbers, but So proved me wrong! Anyway, if you do want to get a haircut, I definitely recommend this salon, and to specifically book So!

The person who has been doing my hair for the last ten years relocated cities, so it was a challenge to find a new go-to person. Luckily, I had a great experience with So Mak! They created a warm and welcoming environment, asked questions before we got started, and checked-in regularly throughout the cut. I would highly recommend them!!

Visited Wavelength and had an appointment booked with Carlin. She did an absolutely phenomenal job. She gave me exactly the haircut I wanted and it looked better on me than I could have imagined! I will definitely be coming back for maintenance on this style as well as for any future styles I may want. She was also very sociable and pleasant to talk with. A fantastic experience all around

Was looking for a new barber and I cannot believe how lucky I got finding Arlo. They were absolutely fantastic and created an experience and look that's better than I could have imagined. I couldn't have been more comfortable or relaxed throughout the entire session. I also got a wash and will be doing the same every time. Thing is - I've always wanted a barber that could do a cut that truly looked natural. I personally really don't like a super sculpted, lined up, designed look. But while Arlo's work is really natural, it's still a brand new look for me. They put real work in to make it new and natural all at the same time. This past week has brought unexpected compliments and a lot of, "What changed about you?" Wavelength is also a super chill space with the comforts you'd want - filtered water, tea, good books to read, comfy chairs for waiting and good music.

I had an amazing haircut from Carlin! I went in with pictures and a general idea of what I wanted and Carlin was able to understand my vision and give me one of my favorite haircuts ever. I don't ever style my hair and Carlin understood that - the way my hair now falls and layers itself thru airdrying is exactly what I wanted!! Thank you so much Carlin.

It’s my second time getting a haircut with Luke, first time was at another hair salon and second time here at Wavelength, and I’m just as thrilled with my look as I was the first time! Luke really listens to what you’re looking for and delivers it flawlessly. He keeps you in the conversation during your cut and is really just a sweet and very talented person. I recommend him to my friends a lot and will continue to do so at this new location :)
