I came to Waves Salon to get my hair done and left with it looking the exact same as when I walked through their doors. Attached to my review is a photo of what I asked (in which I showed my stylist) for and a photo of what I was left with. I spent over 200 dollars for a service that was done terribly and a haircut that was never received. My stylist almost seemingly felt like she wanted to rush me out of the chair instead of doing the job she was meant to do. That same day, I called and asked to get it fixed, and again, left exactly the same as I did before. Noticeably still a brunette and no where near blonde like I was supposed to be. Would never come here again. 👎

Worst salon experience I have ever had! Say they are able to cut men’s hair, but then has restrictions on how short they can cut your hair. I waited a week to get in so I could be seen because I have a busy work schedule and their solution was to “go to a barber down the street” since they couldn’t cut my hair as short as I would like. Given that I don’t get much time off, I went through with it and you could tell there is ZERO experience with men’s hair. Tried a totally different direction than what my hair naturally lays which is not in the picture of what I wanted. There was no disclaimer on my booking that this stylist had restrictions on a simple men’s cut. I didn’t ask for intricate designs or anything, just a simple fade and scissor cut on top. Meanwhile, they try to refer me to their friend who I have a hard time trusting if this is result I got. My advice is not to do men’s hair if you’re going to have restrictions on basic mens cuts. Or maybe put a disclaimer that this stylist doesn’t do well with this specific request. I also got charged $20 more than it was listed online so prepare for an upcharge if you do decide to go through with what seems like a questionable men’s salon.

Logan is rude, couldn’t schedule an appointment because she made me feel like what I needed to schedule for was such a burden (children’s cut). I guess I’m glad I experienced it over the phone before I went in and spent money.

This was my first visit to Waves Hair Salon. I was impressed right away. It is very secure. The door is locked at all times. Drinks are offered right away the minute I walked in and throughout. Everybody is very friendly and this place is very clean. As I sat there waiting for my appointment (I got there very early) I watched everybody that left that salon. I watched also some people they came in and left after hair was done. Everybody had great color, highlights, cuts and styles. My friend and her daughter came here 2 month ago and again last week. I got my highlights done by Elida so did my friend. Best highlights and style I have gotten. I love my new look. I will be back to get my highlights done again by Elida.

I really loved this salon. Great ambiance! I took my mom for her birthday. I got a blowout from Alma. She was super sweet. I loved my hairstyle. My mom had hair colored by Elida. She loved her highlights. The owners have an adorable golden doodle Molly.

Compared to the private hair appointments I've had, the prices here are reasonable and the work is done well. Beautiful interior and good security. Easy to call and book an appointment

I have been going to Waves for several years now, and Katelyn Pitts is a wonderful stylist. I always show her inspiration photos on my phone and then leave with my hair looking exactly how I wanted it. Definitely the best hair cuts I have ever gotten. She is also super personable and always willing to teach me about products and styling tips that will help me get the most out of my hair. 10/10

I went and got a haircut from Katelyn P. last week and it was an AMAZING experience! She was so kind in how she taught me about the kind of hair I have and how best to protect it while achieving my hair goals. She took the time to talk me through great products I could use, how to effectively use the products and she always checked in to see how I was feeling. Katelyn really went above and beyond for me, she showed me different techniques on her hair so I could see it better and it was so helpful. She is a wonderful stylist and I left feeling educated on how to take care of my hair and feeling really good about myself. Thank you Katelyn!!!

Kaitlyn is absolutely amazing. She has really helped keep my hair healthy and has always gone above and beyond when coloring and cutting my hair. She has helped me go from beautiful blonde to lime green and has always talked me through how I should go about achieving any hair style. I've had a lot of good stylist before and she by far is the best stylist I've had yet!

Katelyn P. is great! As a travel nurse it's hard to find someone new to take care of my hair in the places I go, and I'm so glad I found Katelyn. She is friendly, kind, and really takes the time needed to determine what my hair goals are and ensure that I am totally happy with the outcome. I cannot recommend her enough! The salon itself is very nice, clean, and the staff are always welcoming. If you are in ABQ and need hair services, go to Waves Salon to be well taken care of!

Katelyn is my stylist and she has been for the past year. I highly recommend her services because she administers professional highlights and gives thorough advice on maintaining the color. I've never had highlights before, so I was unsure of how to treat my hair, but she gave advice on products and emphasized a balanced pH level to maintain the color. I'm definitely going to continue highlighting my hair because she made it an excellent experience! Furthermore, she made the atmosphere at the salon welcoming and makes great conversation. Having her as my hairstylist made me appreciate the effort women put into their highlights and I became significantly more confident in my appearance.

I drive from another city to come to Waves Salon! Jules is amazing in every way. She makes my entire experience absolutely relaxing. From the shampoo massage like wash to the finishing touches, she’s the best. She is also my six years old daughters stylist and we absolutely love her. The Salon itself is my favorite place to be. It’s hip and fun, super clean with the best vibe and their shelves are always stocked with my favorite Keraste products. To all the people looking for a dream come true!

Coming to Waves salon always feels like a special experience. All of the staff members are incredibly nice, they always offer drinks throughout your visit, and they make meaningful conversation. I have never walked away from Waves salon unsatisfied with the service. I always get compliments on my hair! Elida is a talented stylist, and really fun to work with. I recommend Waves salon!

I love this hair salon. I used to go to individual stylists that would move from from shop to shop. When my husband introduced me to Mario I was hooked! I knew I had found my place when I asked him to do a Very particular hair style that other stylists had refused to do. Not only did he happily agree, he broke out the scissors and did the layering by eye, old school style! He could have gone on for hours evening every strand out with the intensity he had that day but he stuck to just going 15 minutes over his scheduled time. The hair cut was incredible. You can even go online and book for who you want, what you want and when they have available for that! Though know that the online system occasionally borks up. It's about $$-$$$ depending on what you're having done but know that it is worth it and you will come out looking like you stepped off the cover of a magazine! Please note that their pricing for children is based on stylist and there is no longer a person who does kids for $25.

So I called a couple months ahead of time, explained what I wanted to the receptionist as I could not find what I wanted using the online scheduling function. I thought it was understood I wanted an all over lift+color. I get in the chair today and find out the service is only for a highlight and was told the stylist only has time for that. I should have left then. My balayage is brassy even though I asked for cool tones because there was not enough time to properly lift my hair. The stylist was very violent didn’t even brush my hair before the color and pulled my hair apart instead, scratched my scalp too hard during the wash, and pulled it during the blow dry. I paid $300+ for brassy hair and a sore scalp that I will need to have fixed at another salon because they’re closed until Tuesday. Never again, I can’t believe I grew out my hair for 5 years, paid top dollar, and this is the result I got. I cannot stress how upsetting this experience was and implore others to look somewhere else.

This is the first time I feel compelled to write a review. I had my hair cut at the Waves Salon and my hair cut went well. However, the hair stylist burnt my hair with her flat iron. I specifically told her she needed to add a heat protectant to my hair before straightening it. She sprayed some of the heat protectant solution the salon carries. It was a terrible heat protectant solution! It didn't protect my hair! After the flat iron ran through my hair, I had crispy hair. I've had to get my hair deep conditioned numerous times at an alternative salon. The deep conditioning treatment works for a while and then my hair becomes dry again and breaks off. Since this experience I have consulted with other specialists and they've all suggested that I will have to cut off most of my hair. Yes, it's that bad! If your looking for a good hair cut you will get one. However, go prepared with your hair washed, dried, and straightened prior to getting it cut. This is the only way you'll be able to prevent the damage and expense I have incurred. Then again what's the point of going to the salon if you don't even get the "salon experience."

I love getting my hair cut at Waves! Katelyn is amazing and does a great job every time. They are taking great precautions during this unchartered pandemic (in most of our lifetimes!). Everyone is wearing masks, there are barriers between the wash stations, and only a few people allowed inside at once. Thank you!
