What's the Buzz is a great spot to get a haircut. The atmosphere of the place is very laid-back. David is a skilled barber, and he provides excellent customer service. He even talked me into switching up my normal cut that I've been getting for eons, and I really like the change. The unhinged review written (if you call atrocious syntax "writing", then okay) by someone a couple of days ago that stated David threatened to kill her is nothing he would do. Oh, and none of his services are in the $140-$160 range as was stated by this clearly disturbed individual. In fact, his barber services prices are cheaper than what you'd pay at almost any other shop downtown/Pearl/NW 23rd area. I'd highly recommend him!

I don't think you'll find a friendlier or more conscientious stylist in Portland than David. He's a great barber and conversationalist and genuinely makes you feel at home even if you're a tourist whom he might never see again 6+stars

Randomly strolled into this place and couldn’t be happier. David was extremely friendly, attentive, and meticulous. Shame I’m only visiting or else I’d come here exclusively. Thanks for the great haircut.

I recently visited WHATS THE BUZZ in Portland for the first time, and it was an exceptional experience! I chose this place based on its positive reviews and convenient Sunday hours, and it did not disappoint. David is incredibly knowledgeable, cultured, and fun. He is a true professional who made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. The haircut was perfect, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend WHATS THE BUZZ for anyone looking for a top-notch haircut and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning!

I highly recommend getting your hair cut by David. He is very respectful, super kind, professional, warm and great with communication. David makes you feel comfortable and confident before, during and after your cut. All important things when finding a hair stylist. I went in nervous and embarrassed with how my hair looked and left glowing with confidence. This ambiance of his shop was very esthetically pleasing with the many window plants, the books he has for reading while waiting, vaulted ceiling, style of chairs he uses and the background music. All unique but fits very well with each other. Thank you again David! YOU'RE AMAZING!!!

I was in town for a few days and needed a haircut. This was the best haircut I’ve ever had. David took his time, was very meticulous, and explained everything he was doing and the products that he used. No tears were shed, go get a haircut from him ASAP!

Very nice guy, and did a good job on blending the sides, but otherwise I’m not sure he has expertise with shape and layering. Ended up chopping the top of my head all the same length with a guard, which in my experience is unusual; and unfortunately very unpleasant. It’s one of the haircuts that can’t be fixed Thankfully hair grows out, but it ruined my week.

Best haircut I've had in Portland--even Oregon. I appreciate the tropical plants scattered in the front window. They provide a relaxing aroma coupled with creative music playing in the background enhancing the ambience. The owner is a good conversationalist and uniquely open minded. You may learn a thing or two while getting a stylish cut.

I stopped in for a quick bang trim this afternoon and was so delighted by David and his beautiful space! He is so kind and attentive, plus all the plants are lovely and make you feel like you’re in a greenhouse 😊 my bangs have never looked better! Thank you David, I’ll be back for sure!

David does a great job. Attentive to detail. He spent the time to do his best. Cannot recommend him enough! Right near my office too. I’ll def be a regular customer. He could charge more but shared he wants people to have access to quality haircuts. What a solid guy! Go support his new shop! And the vibe is really cool there too.
