I was really looking forward to my appointment at Whistle and Sway, but I left feeling heartbroken and disappointed. My hair was mid-butt length. I had been growing it out for years. It’s always been a feature I’ve taken pride in and felt was a defining part of my identity. During my visit, I asked for bangs and a butterfly cut—to add some volume while keeping as much length as possible. I even showed the stylist pictures to make sure we were on the same page. She reassured me she’d only need to take off about half an inch and showed me the first cut, which seemed fine at the time. As she continued, though, I started to notice she wasn’t giving me a butterfly cut but regular layers instead. When I brought it up, she said this style would work better for my curly hair. I trusted her judgment in the moment, but looking back, that was when I first started to feel uneasy. When it came time to style (I had an event to attend right after), she diffused my hair for only a few minutes, explaining that she wanted to “avoid frizz.” Unfortunately, my hair was still wet and fell flat, so I didn’t get to see how the cut would look once fully dry and shaped. I also didn’t leave with styled hair, as I had originally expected. The hardest part was when I finally moved my hair to the front and saw how short it was. My once mid-butt-length hair now reached my breasts. YEARS of growth were gone in an instant. I mentioned how short it was, but she brushed it off, saying it was just “shrinkage” from styling it curly. That wasn’t true—my hair was still wet. I’m truly devastated about how much length I lost and the experience overall. I’d expect this at budget chain, but not a high end salon with such promising reviews. I hope this review helps others set clearer expectations and that the salon takes this as an opportunity to do better in the future.

Met with Emily for my first ever hair appointment and left so pleased! I’m a natural blonde who gets darker in the winter, and was looking to brighten it up a bit. Emily does a great job with funky colors but she also does an amazing job with blondes. I left looking brighter and natural, had received compliments minutes after leaving the salon. Her prices are reasonable and she was easy to chat with the whole time. Would definitely recommend her

What a great experience with Brittany! I just moved from Nashville and have been looking for a Davines salon. Brittany took the time to listen to what I wanted, while respectfully making recommendations. Super personable, didn’t push product, and was just really fun to be with during my appointment. My color and cut were exceptional! I am so happy to have met her and come back to Whistle + Sway for all my hair appointments!

Brittany is a blonde genius! There is no one else I would trust my hair to. The salon is equally as amazing. Everyone here is kind, happy, and friendly. The salon is also extremely clean and inviting. 5 stars all around!

I complimented a girl's cut at a random bar in Dallas and she was like OMG go check this place out it's worth the drive. Lucky for me I live near this salon and she was absolutely right. I loved coming here for a cut! Erin did a great job! Only bummer (which is just a me problem) is I wish that you could book online because.. I just hate calling people haha

I have been going here since sophomore year of college. Being so far away from home, I was so nervous about letting anyone touch my hair. Then I found Lauren and my life changed! I come here for cut, color, extensions, and blowouts for events. All of the associates are SO nice as well. I honestly dread the day I go back home cause they won’t be in my state! Love this team!

I got my hair done by Erin this week, and all the hairstylists were very friendly. I asked for a dark ashy blonde with light blonde chunky highlights. My hair turned out pretty much brown with a few blonde highlights that are only visible at the top. I had a consultation, where I was told a price estimate and what procedures will be done, without being told that it might require multiple sessions to get to the results I wanted. When I adressed that I was unsatisfied at the end of my appointment, I was told that it will need 1-2 more sessions to get there, that "they thought it would lift better", it might get lighter over time, etc. I thought it was a bit unprofessional to not give a client realistic expectations beforehand. Then I was told I can come back in 4-6 weeks to get it fixed, without any discount or an appointment sooner. I don't think the stylist did a bad job or that it was necessarily their fault. I was just disappointed in not being given realistic expectations beforehand and the way my unsatisfaction was kind of ignored.

I love getting my hair done at Whistle and Sway! Karissa is the best stylist! She always takes time to with my hair t make sure it is perfect. She quickly learned all the nuances of my thick, coarse hair, and she is an excellent colorist. The atmosphere in the salon is easy going and relaxing.

My experience at Whistle & Sway has always been delightful. The professionals are exquisite at their trade of artistically beautifying Fort Worth’s Cultural District. I have been a client of TJ for many years and I continue to reap the indulgences of his artistic abilities. I have also had the gratification of working with several other stylists such as Erin and Zoe. Every professional in this salon is quite talented. They offer services for all hair types and conditions. Davines, which is the product line they use, is top of the line for the industry, in my opinion. I would inquire about their services, if I were you.

Emily provided exceptional service, from start to finish! I accidentally arrived an hour before my appointment and everyone was extremely flexible and tentative. To my surprise, they moved my appointment up immediately, which is VERY much appreciated. The salons atmosphere was so inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Emily’s coloring was exactly what I wanted, and the results were beyond beautiful. Can't wait to book my next appointment

I’ve needed to get my hair colored and trimmed for longer than I’d care to admit. I had it done roughly two years ago in balayage, and the color had faded to just the bleached tone underneath leaving a conveniently annoying line between natural color and bleached ends (which looks awesome when your hair is past the middle of your back, am I right? 🤦🏻‍♀️). First time here, and Erin was my stylist. The salon is gorgeous inside and the team members were all very friendly. Before we did anything, she sat in front of me on a stool like a bestie ready for juicy gossip and said, “Alright girl, what are we doing today?” and then listened to every concern I had about my VERY overdue and in need of love fried ends. The environment is welcoming and definitely makes the experience feel like you’re hanging with your girls at a cute, modern brunch place. Would definitely recommend!

Karissa is AMAZING! She is the only the person I have consistently seen to color and style my hair. She listens to what I want and need - I travel a lot and can’t always make it in so does an incredible job with the color and makes it so that I can go an extended period of time between treatments. I highly recommend that if you are looking for a specific look or want a new look that Karissa is the person to see.

The worst part about moving is having to find a new stylist. I was with my previous stylist for ten years, I wished I could have brought her with me. I went to three salons before finding Whistle & Sway. None of which listened to my wants and all were excessively overpriced especially considering their poor results. I sifted through reviews and decided Lauren seemed like a good fit for me, SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Not only did she finally hear and execute my hair needs, she was an absolute delight to talk to. I will for sure be back, thank you to Lauren and her assistant.

Zoey is amazing. Curls can be finicky and she nailed my color and cut and has even taught me new tips on styling my curls. Love her and highly recommend this salon.

We absolutely LOVE everything about Whistle & Sway!! If you are looking for color, cut, or highlights, give them a call. We see Karissa and TJ, but all of the staff work together to make sure you are happy with finished product! 😊
