I came in with seven months of hair growth after a complete hack job of a haircut at an unrelated stylist so I was very much overdue for a good styling. Raul provided the all-star treatment with a thorough wash and scrub with all natural products and a consultation and discussion about what I wanted from this visit to his establishment. After a skillful blade cut, sea salt spray and styling my shoulder length hair was restored to a bouncy and curly medium length cut that felt like a whole pound of hair was off my head and out of my eyes and already getting plenty of compliments as I walked out of his shop. Expect the best customer care, a skilled hand and and pleasant conversation as you are transformed and refreshed in a whole new style when you visit Xxenial Hair.

I really love the haircut Raul gave me and highly recommend this salon to everyone! In the past, stylists at fancy salons have given me haircuts that require expertise in styling to maintain. My hair might have looked nice at the salon, but I was never able to recreate it at home. Not the case here! I asked Raul for a cut that’s not only professional and flattering but also easy to maintain, and he really delivered. Plus he taught me some easy styling techniques. He’s very personable, warm, and affirming. I have a new favorite hair studio in sf — thank you Raul!

I found Raul through Google since he had great reviews and was just 2 blocks away. He did an amazing job at my keratin treatment as my hair had gotten completely full of tangles. It’s been a few weeks and my hair is still so smooth and shiny. He was also so kind and lovely to chat with. He’s been doing hair for so many years in San Francisco, and I can see why everyone rated him highly. Will be back when it’s time to smooth my mane again. Thanks Raul!

Poor customer service. I went three times to try and work with Raul to dial in my haircut. The second time he took off way too much so I let my hair grow out and I thought the third time would be the charm. Sadly no. When I texted him the day after my third haircut saying the back felt a little heavy and long and could I come back in for a touch up; he ghosted me. Never going back. UPDATE: In response to Raul, I had haircuts with you on 1/3/24, 2/17/24, and 9/20/24 with AppleCash receipts to show. The long 7-month gap between 2-17 and 9-20 was so that I could let my hair grow back out after you cut it way short, the cut looked nothing like the pictures I showed you, instead you gave me the haircut you wanted, not what I asked for. To your response about the text and family emergency, I texted you 9/21, the next day after my 9/20 haircut, asking if I could come in for a touch up, to which you never replied. I waited for over a week (over 5 biz days) before writing this review. As a business, you had ample time to get back in touch with me. Instead you ghosted.

3rd time visiting Raul for a haircut and beard trim appointment. Early thorough communication via text. He’s responsive to questions as well, it’s not just some automated text update. It’s personable and professional from the start which creates a good first impression. Every experience has been great since the 1st visit. I travel to the Bay Area for work and usually get my haircut in Jersey. I stumbled across Raul’s page. Was starting to look like an caveman after missing my regular haircut. I had no idea how to explain the lengths and style because I’m so used to sitting down in the regular chair without having to explain anything. I showed some photos of haircuts from the past. I asked Raul to use that as a loose reference. Trusted him as the professional to get the job done. Energy was great, conversation was great, and haircut was great! Felt like I made a new friend at the same time. I enjoyed my experience at Xxenial hair studio. I think it’s unique to the stylist’s experience of hairstyling/cutting and I still very much got what I asked for. He maintained length, gave me a shag/wolf cut with layers and used a razor for my whole haircut as I asked. My hair is below my shoulders/at chest length so it’s a little lengthy, but length was kept while still getting at dead ends and giving the cut. I’m picky but I’m open, and I think if you also think along those lines and have reference pictures either from yourself but ALSO from Google as they are better to reference for the stylist then he will definitely give you what you what you want. I had a bit of a different haircut in mind, but I didn’t have any good reference pictures from Google I just had selfies that were not of good quality to properly reference from but he showed me something that I was okay with and gave me exactly that and a mixture of the selfies I showed him. I am pleased, and can assure you that he will give you what you want if properly shown and he is good with longer hair- at least I can attest to chest length hair! Length- check, layers- check, razor cut - check, styling at the end was also a plus- check check check.

I’ve been going to Raul for a few years now based on a friend’s recommendation and I could not be happier with the experience. Raul is thoughtful and talented. He wants to get to know you and truly understand what you are looking for. I first went to him with long curly hair (at its longest down to my mid back) and no idea what to do with it. He helped me through that phase and eventually, years later, guided me through going shorter again. Truly a first rate stylist at all lengths! I would highly recommend!

I have been going with Raul for a couple of months now. He is an excellent hairstylist. With him, I have finally discovered what hairstyle suits me the best. I love it. If you are driving there, just make sure to arrive at least 15-20 min before the appointment because it can be hard to find a parking spot. I highly recommend Raul.

I came across Raul last August after having two disappointing experiences elsewhere. My hair just wasn't turning out the way I wanted, but Raul worked his magic & fixed it. Those with long curly hair know that it is hard to find a hair stylist who truly knows how to cut and style long curly hair. My son found Raul Anthony on Google and immediately booked an appt. He was so impressed with Raul’s responsiveness and communication when booking and was really excited to get his haircut. When we arrived, we were struck by Raul’s professionalism, his warmth and his overall demeanor. He took the time to get to know my son and what he was looking for in terms of a haircut. Raul pointed out some observations about his bone structure and customized his haircut while incorporating the look he was looking for. What can I say….BEST HAIRCUT EVER!!!! Wish we would have found Raul years ago!!! I, of course, hopped in the chair next for a consultation and booked with him immediately for the following week.

This is the best haircut and color I have ever had. I can see why he won Best of The Bay 2022. He took an idea and was inspired. The best hair products I've ever smelled, the color and cut were perfection to my specifications, he will give you his undivided attention, expertise and cut with love! He made me feel like a Queen for day.
