I have been coming to Yara for e-file/ Russian manicures for the past few months and it’s been an amazing experience! The hard gel overlay and great attention to detail makes my manicure last for 3-4 weeks. Yulia always shapes, cleans my cuticles and paints my nails perfectly! The salon is very clean, the staff is friendly and the prices are great. Could not recommend this place enough!

I never write reviews (esp negative) but unfortunately I think people should be warned. I had been a client of yara for over a year, and decided to take a break from having my nails done and get the gel removed. I later learned that the manager, Elaine, had someone who was not trained with E-file remove my gel. This nail tech permanently damaged all my nail beds, to the point they’re at the risk of falling off. Elaine noticed this right away, and assured me the salon would fix this in a few days once my nails grew and got a little stronger. I tried to call to schedule an appointment and she made it impossible to find a time that worked. Eventually, I had to move my schedule around to go in and get it fixed, and the nail tech then said she could NOT fix my nails because of how damaged they were. She explained I need to wait 2 months for my nails to fully grow out, and then I can come get them repaired. She also was the one that told me the nail tech I saw (Roberta) was not licensed. I was so upset, Elaine called me and promised me to make things right. However, she has not offered anything except doing the nail repair for free (in 2 months time). I am deeply unsettled by this whole experience, and am saddened that a place I trusted 1) severely damaged my nails and caused me this level of pain (i.e. it hurts to do daily tasks like shampoo my hair) and 2) took advantage of me by having someone who wasn’t licensed and trained try to do this service. Do not trust this establishment, and do not trust the manager to make things right.

Absolutely Love this place! I have been to many different places for my nails and nothing compares. My nails look amazing while still remaining strong. Not to mention their lymphatic massages are also amazing. And most importantly the staff is so kind and accommodating which is another reason I always come back! Love everyone there, highly recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE! Worst experience I’ve ever had at a nail salon. If I could give zero stars I would. I booked an appointment for extensions and a pedicure over a month in advance. I received a call a few hours before the appointment asking if I could come in 15 minutes later because they were running late. Of course I said sure. When I showed up, I was met with glares from two women who didn’t say hello or check me in. I sat down and waited. Not a single staff member said hello or even something along the lines of “we’ll be with you in a moment.” Every employee looked miserable. Finally my nail tech approached me and instead of greeting me, very rudely asked “what’s your name?” I got up and walked over to the chair and (still no hello or how are you), was asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted extensions and an almond shape. She asked me what color and I said dark red. She grabbed one random color options from the station next to us and threw it on the table. This is where it all really went south - she grabbed one of my hands and starts furiously and aggressively filing my nails. I could feel how annoyed she was. She holds up my hand and goes “ok?” And I go”wait I’m getting extensions?” And she replies “what. I don’t have time for those.” And I go “that’s what I booked my appointment for?” To this, she laughs and goes “ok well I don’t have time for that. I only have an hour.” We went back and forth and then she got up and grabbed another woman who said “yeah so we don’t have time for extensions today.” At this point, I communicated that I didn’t feel comfortable staying since I was made to feel like I’m a burden. The nail tech got up and grabbed the manager who came over and asked what happened. I explained everything and all she could say was “I’m sorry.” She never offered a solution to the issue. I’m seriously at a loss for words. I was made to feel like the entire situation was my fault when all I did was show up for an appointment that I booked over a month in advance. I felt attacked and extremely unwelcome. I ended up walking out without receiving any services or a solution. I’m so glad I didn’t spend over $200 at an establishment that clearly has no respect for customers. What a total waste of time and energy. I’ll be sure to spread the word! And that nail tech deserves to be fired for how she handled my hand.

I visit Yara almost every week and see Ivan for a blowout. He is amazing and true artist ! He always takes his time to do my hair and makes sure I am happy with the results. The salon is also extremely clean, beautiful and the staff is always kind. They use products with non toxic chemicals which is always a plus. I highly recommend Ivan and the salon!

I've been doing my nails with Paula for many years and she has always been great. She mentioned she was specialized in facial massage. I have been doing body massage (shiatsu, deep, Thai and sweedish massage) for more than 20 years, but never tried facial massage before. What a wonderful surprise!!! The massage was amazing and in seconds I was completely relaxed. Her creams and fragrances were amazing and the massage was one of the best I ever had.

They reached out to me to make it right, so I’m adjusting my review to 4 stars. As I said below, great experience with pedicures and I will try the efile mani and report back. I appreciate the customer service response here! I have had positive pedicure experiences here but unfortunately the $130 gel manicure was a disappointment. My nails started chipping the next day, I went to get them fixed and was told I should book with a more experienced nail tech next time. I assumed I was booking with an experienced nail tech for that price? A week later and nearly all of my nails are chipped and I can’t go back as I am away for the holidays. I was also overcharged for acrylic removal when I got gel removal and when I raised this to the receptionist she said I was wrong. I looked it up and I was not wrong. I asked for a refund of the excess charge when I went for the fix and she said they couldn’t do refunds.

First time here and will definitely be back in the future. A place where I can get my hair and nails done at the same time!? This is amazing as I value my time and get to save time by having both done simultaneously. I had Victor for my hair and he absolutely knew how to deal with my very curly hair. Roberta was my nail tech and she was very gentle with my hands. A bonus is that you get to drink coffee on the house.

I got a facial massage with Paula. I gotta tell you, stop everything you are doing and BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH PAULA. I absolutely loooove massages. I was curious on the facial massage because I normally get them on my back or my feet. I am extremely happy I tried this because it was soooo relaxing! It's 30 minutes of total bliss. She plays some soothing piano songs in the background and then starts her magic. She works on the face, the head, shoulders and chest with a gua sha stone and her hands. Nonetheless, the relaxation travels thru the body from head to toe. Apparently, that's because there are acupuncture pressure points in the head too, so you can feel the relaxation all over. Paula's good energy vibrates so high that I could feel the tension leaving my body with a slight touch. I went in so deep in the massage that it was difficult to get back to the real world hahaha. I was so zen I couldn't recognize myself walking slowly to get home. It felt like the frenetic new yorker left my body for a moment and let me just be with myself. Thank you, Paula, for this transcendental massage that elevated my day! I felt the healing waves on my body for a long time afterwards. Apparently, that's my chi that was released from my chest and was able to move freely while getting rid of the tension. 10/10 I will return

I was hesitant to write this review at first because I have never wanted to gate-keep a place so bad, but they absolutely deserve the 5-stars. I work in the industry and YARA really knows the meaning of great hospitality. The location itself is beautiful and relaxing from the wonderful girls at the front desk (Hi B! 💖) to the music they play. They really make you feel welcome, offer beverages, and show genuine interest in your experience. I’ve had the BEST manicure of my life here. I cannot recommend the 🇺🇦 E-file Mani 🇺🇦enough (formerly the Russian Manicure). I also had the hard gel extension done and the joy that looking at my hands brings me is unreal. I’ve disliked my cuticles for so long and this service is perfect. I love their packages. The blowout + Manicure is so pampering. And their eyebrow work is unmatched. They get booked up fast especially for their e-file manicures, so be prepared to book in advance. I recommend booking an appointment same day as you complete your manicure. My pedicure is still going strong after a month and my mani is solid 2 weeks in. And seeing as how much time and effort they put into everything and how quickly they get booked up, it is understandably important to be on time for appointments. However, they will absolutely work with you to try and move things around and get you off waitlists, which is why being equally as reliable with them is, I feel, just generally good manners. ✨obrigada por tudo, equipe YARA! дякую за все, команда YARA! ✨

Been coming to Yara now for about a year and have been very happy and satisfied with services and staff thus far. I have super long hair, very puerto rican fussy texture LOL and most salons dread taking me, however, Yara staff is fearless is giving me a fabulous blowout each and every time (Destiny is a gem). I have since transitioned to doing my nails here as well and they have been great and long lasting efile Manis (Ty, Irynka!)! I do feel appreciated as an established client and always get welcomed by name when I arrive. Definitely recommend!

Best Russian manicure (e-file) service in NYC. Have been to three different nail techs here (attached photos of each time I have gone) and each one has been phenomenal. The attention to detail, precision, and care they put into each manicure makes the price worth it, in my opinion. Every time I go, my manicures last 3+ weeks. 10/10.

I am sorry to be someone to come on and write a bad review of a place thats overall a good experience, but my hair was totally ruined at this place. It quite honestly looks like I let a 6 year old cut my hair. The top layer is one length and the underneath is another. I have a BASIC haircut, long hair with long layers and a face frame. My hair is half one length and half another, its 4 inches shorter than when I arrived and I very clearly said no more than 2 inches. I could not recommend less getting your hair cut here ESPECIALLY in a city where there are so many other option. I need my hair to look good for my job and now it is really embarrassing to even leave my house. While the salon gave me a refund for the cut, they didn't comp the entire service which in my opinion would have been the least they can do since I am now stuck walking around looking like I gave myself a haircut. Please please go elsewhere if you're looking for a haircut, at least for me I simply don't want anyone else to end up stuck with horribly uneven hair. In photos you can see there is no face frame, just the front half one blunt length and the back/underneath another. Beyond disappointed.

This is my first time leaving a negative review, but I was supremely disappointed by my experience at Yara. I went into this experience with high expectations given the positive reviews. However, my nails look the worst they’ve ever looked in all my years of getting them done despite having tried many random nail salons. They’re lumpy and my cuticles look terrible (worst than when I entered the salon) and the shape of the nails are also really bad. I see tons of cuticle and dead skin and residue nail polish on every single nail. There are also tiny bumps on my nails. In addition to the negative results, I also did not really enjoy my experience and the service. - I saw everyone around me get offered beverages; however, in the entire 2.5 hours I was there I didn’t receive anything. - My pedicure was not super comfortable and after it ended I wasn’t offered a chance to put on my shoes so I had to put my feet where everyone else put their shoes. - I tried to tell the person my nails were bumpy, but she couldn’t understand English. When I tried to speak into the Google Translate she offered me, it didn’t translate over, and there wasn’t any further efforts to understand me. She just shrugged instead of trying to find a solution. I couldn’t communicate to her at all the entire time. To be fair, the receptionist saw my nails and said they do not meet the standards and offered me a 15% discount. However, it was still very expensive with tips and all. In addition, I feel like if the nails were so obviously not on par to their standards that she noticed before I even said anything, they should’ve offered more or been a little more apologetic. I do want to note that the person who did my hair was really good and the blowout looked really good. This is only a negative reflection of the nail service and customer experience.

UPDATE - Not a place for people of color—this isn’t something I say often, but do not go here. They will not treat you well. Following my last review, they promised to fix the issue with their rude front desk staff and even offered a discount for my next visit. But after that, I stopped receiving appointment confirmations. I know the game, and it’s clear I wasn’t welcome. I’ve since found a new place that treats me with respect and provides great service.

Had such high expectations of this place but was utterly disappointed by the quality of service. Went in today for a e-file mani with hard gel and it turned out poorly done for $150+. The results I got was completely different from what I had asked for. The nails were lumpy and even had a dent in the thumb. I was not given time to check my nails and was rushed to put my hand under the light each time I tried. I also tried to ask clarifying question politely but was met with sarcastic responses from my nail tech in a condescending tone. This was not to mention I was cut on multiple fingers and was burned by the e-file a couple times. No sorry, no checking on if everything’s okay, just moved on like nothing happened. Beyond the poor results, I was also not informed of the charges for extra services so I ended up with a bill higher than expected. I never leave reviews but this experience was honestly terrible. Went straight to another salon after to get it redone. I won’t be coming back.

I am writing this bittersweet review because, despite having great nails, I felt embarrassed and a bit like I had time traveled back to grade school. I've only been here twice, so let's skip the habitual conversation—both times, I experienced train delays. As someone also in the service industry, I understand the importance of tight schedules and valuing both clients' and stylists' time. However, I'm a "fake" New Yorker since everything I do is in the city, but I reside in NJ. Unfortunately, NJ Transit hasn't been very reliable, but that's not the main message I want to convey. The service at the salon was amazing. The vibe is relaxing- it feels like as escape ! Oksana was incredible, and even during my last visit, the technicians were more than amazing and very comforting throughout the hour and some change of an experience. Today, however, I was late on a day with many train outages—Upon reviewing the no-show, cancellation policy, and late arrivals fee, I noticed it states that the salon understands last-minute changes happen and encourages clients to call if they are running late. The policy mentions a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals in case of unexpected delays. Since I am not skilled in operating trains or psychic enough to foresee unforeseen circumstances, I called to inform them I would be 15 minutes late. She informed me that the policy is 10 min- which seemed different than what I read. When I reiterated the policy that I read, she sighed deeply and said she would wait 15 minutes. I literally sprinted there and arrived out of breath at 11:58, thinking 15 minutes past 11:45 was 12:00—maybe I was wrong. She said, "You know it's more than 15 minutes, right?" She then aggressively added, "We have a schedule, you know. You cannot keep doing this." While I understand the frustration, I always arrive before the 15-minute mark or today at the 13/14-minute mark. To be spoken to so aggressively and almost scolded, feeling that energy, made the experience uncomfortable at best. I felt embarrassed as it is a kind of quiet salon, and being scolded in that environment was mortifying. I understand the message and will leave more time because of the constant delays, but it is the delivery and the tone that made me sick to my stomach. At the end, the receptionist asked, "Do you want to book again?" I decided to book myself because I decided at that moment to address her. I said, "You are asking me for my respect, and I am asking for yours." She clarified she "was not asking me for respect." While it seemed like we "addressed" the issue, I felt the need to get this off my chest. The apology felt forced and lacked sincerity. You can convey a message without it being aggressive and rude. I urge management to discuss with your employees how to speak to those who are paying for a service because paying for a service after you were scolded was disgusting. The worst part is I really only came in to reschedule but could not get that in because immediately I was berated. This is unacceptable, but the manicure and Oksana were sensational. Tone matters, even if you aren’t the one performing the service. I am excited to return, but I hope that respect will be given going forward. Beautiful work though !

****UPDATE**** The salon has reached out to me and fully made up for this, which to me shows the excellent service here and willingness to make things right. Their commitment to their customers is evident in their reply to this review and because of this, I’d absolutely be willing to come again in the future and try their services again. ************************ I was excited to come here and get a manicure and blowout. I loved the idea of doing both at the same time so I tried it. The service was good, everyone was lovely to be around, the salon was clean, welcoming, and well decorated. The gel manicure turned out well, not many issues there. The blow out was unfortunately very bad. My hair did not look good by the end and the stylist did not achieve at all the look she had described she was going to do. “natural straight blow out with volume”. Even the woman doing my nails glanced up a few times and it seemed she too didn’t think my hair looked good either. The hair was flat, had no shine or bounce the way it usually does after getting a blow out. I have thick, middle eastern hair and the stylist did not know how to style it. It was as if I had roughly blow dried my own hair with no product and then took a straightener to it. If you have fine hair maybe this salon won’t be a problem for you. I was too shy to tell her that it didn’t look good at first (that’s on me for being shy) and by the end of my appointment everyone was cleaning the space and rushing to leave I didn’t feel I had the chance to ask her to fix my hair because it would inconvenience them too much as everyone was packed up and ready to leave, just waiting on me to pay. Again, everyone was nice but by the end I felt I was rushed out. But I understand everyone wanted to get off work and go home. I always tip 20% and this time was no different, though now I regret it because I don’t think the hair service warranted any tip at all. I was flustered and shy and feeling rushed, but still it was my own choice to leave that tip. Altogether after getting a gel manicure and a very poor “blow out” I spent around $130 (after the 20% tip). It could have been worth it if I liked the way my hair turned out but I did not. The salon was beautiful, everyone that worked there was pleasant and nice, I love the idea of getting hair and nails done at the same time but I wouldn’t trust going back because of how poorly my hair was done. :(

Today I had the most wonderful experience with Debora, I came in for the Yara combo, which is a scalp treatment and a blowout. This is located in the west Village in a very bustling area. This place is like a sanctuary for all your needs. First of all, I’ve had many blowouts in my life, but I’ve never had someone take their time with me the way Debora did. My hair is silky, and it looks healthier than ever!! Not to mention she was the kindest soul. The entire staff was very sweet and accommodating. This place is spotless, they’ve earned a forever client. I plan to come back every week. I love it here.!!
