I’ve been going through a lot of difficult life changes and this place has been awesome for my self care. Emily listens to exactly what I want, and makes the experience all about me, even matching my energy which has been a bit lower than usual. Thank you so much for what you do, I’ll definitely be back again. I hear a lot of people talking about how expensive haircuts are getting and each time I go the money feels worth it, support this shop and Emily! 😁😎

Amazing salon, especially for getting blonding services! I have seen Kaylee and Emily, both of whom are lovely and skillful. Emily is my current ride or die and I now live in Gresham and will continue to see her as long as possible! The salon itself is adorable and the vibes are amazing.

I recently moved to Portland and needed a haircut, so I checked out this place based on its great reviews. Most people described it as welcoming, inviting, and inclusive to everyone who walks through the door. However, my experience was quite different. When I entered, I didn’t receive a warm greeting like "Welcome, how can I help you?" Instead, it felt more like "find a seat" with no clear direction on what to expect. That said, my review focuses on the service itself. When I explained the hairstyle I wanted—a pixie cut or short style—the stylist mentioned that she is "expensive" and didn’t feel comfortable doing short haircuts. I asked her, "Do all the stylists only specialize in long hair?" and she responded, "Yes, most of us do long hair." While I appreciate her honesty, I’m left wondering why this wasn’t mentioned on their website or when I called to book the appointment. It would have saved me time and frustration. I’m giving this place a 1-star review, not just because they couldn’t provide the service, but because I left unsure if it was truly about the haircut or something else—how I look, dress, or even smell. To add to my confusion, their website states: "This is for a stand-alone haircut, wash, and fun style! Haircuts with color services start at $45. Whether you’re looking for a quick trim or chopping it all off—we’ll take our time to ensure you get just what you want and leave looking your best!"

My hair has never looked or felt this good before! I recently visited Marie for a haircut, color, and style, and she was amazing! She took the time to understand what I wanted and made great suggestions. The cut was precise, the color, and the styling was spot on. Marie is super skilled and friendly, made the experience enjoyable! I left feeling like a brand new person and can't wait for my next appointment!

I had the BEST appointment with Natalie at Yello! Natalie is so sweet and kind and read my mind with what I wanted to do with my hair. I usually leave salons feeling exhausted from sitting for so long, but I left Yello today feeling so so good! The salon is so cozy and warm and my appointment went by so fast! Cannot recommend Yello and Natalie more!

Great clean and vibrant salon with friendly and knowledgeable stylists - I work with Devon and she’s helped keep my roots colored with occasional balayage and hair style to suit different seasons! Love the little X factor they bring with great hair accessories, hats and fun products as well and always able to try great tasting coffee or sparkling water they stock! 💕

I had one of the toughest weeks of my life and as a result looked and felt a hot mess. I had to get my hair done in between work meetings and Kaylee was super sweet and understanding of my situation. She got me washed and cut likity-split and I walked out of there feeling 100 times better, externally and mentally. Truly can't thank her enough!

Mac at the front desk has exceptional customer service. He’s super genuine and friendly and made my day after arriving to my appointment that was canceled because my stylist was sick. They did their best to call me and notify me via email but all my info was wrong because I failed to update it! I’m so sorry I’m THAT person! Mac was so apologetic and I felt it was all my fault. He sent me home with a goodie bag which was so generous and it made my day! I started coming to Yello when my stylist Devon left her salon in NE Portland a few years back. I love her approach to caring for my hair. She has such a beautiful spirit and always seems delighted to take care of my messy mane. This place knows how to take care of their clients and I’ll keep coming back!

Absolutely LOVE this salon and my hairstylist Kaylee. She always listens to what I'm thinking of changing with my hair, and creates something better than I imagined! I used to live in Portland, and having since relocated to Seattle, I never think twice about making the drive back for her.

I cannot say enough amazing things about yello salon and Kaylee. I am blown away with how amazing my hair looks each and every time that I get it done. I literally drive down from Seattle to get my hair done and I know several of her other clients fly in from California and Alaska. Kaylee has such a warm and outgoing personality and she makes every client who walks in her doors feel welcome and at home. You can tell that she has created a great environment for her other stylists to show off their work and creativity, as well. You cannot go wrong with Kaylee or anyone else at yello.

I loved my experience at Yello! The salon is so cute and vibrant. They follow many precautions to keep everyone safe during covid, and their online booking system is super easy to use. I’ve been going to Kaylee for a year now for cut, color and balayage. I have super thick hair and over the years have had trouble finding a stylist to get my cut how I like it. Kaylee is my go to girl! Her new salon is at a great location...perfect excuse to hit up some sellwood coffee and restaurants after my appointment. Also, the salon itself is bright, happy and inviting. You will not be disappointed! The BEST :)

Yello is amazing! The atmosphere is bright, clean, and really comfortable. Oksana did a stellar job with the balayage and haircut that I got. She truly made me feel at home, and was great at communicating about the hair coloring process and pricing. I highly recommend getting your hair done here! :)
