I recently took my 12-year-old daughter to Yvonne's salon for a haircut. While we've had positive experiences in the past, this visit was extremely disappointing. She was 20 minutes late, and there was no proper parking available, with the salon located on a super busy road. Despite declining a $36 deep conditioning treatment, it was included in the final bill. I was also charged a $24 consultation fee, which I was not informed about beforehand. The final bill came out to $165.60, including an automatic 20% tip of $27.60. After removing the tip due to the poor service and unwarranted charges, it was adjusted down to $138.00. Ultimately, the haircut cost $78, the conditioning treatment $36, and the consultation $24, totaling $138.00 for a simple hair trim for a 12-year-old. Yvonne finally responded to my texts, saying she would refund the $36 conditioning treatment, which she didn't. She also insisted that the consultation fee was justified, even though it was merely a brief exchange about the date, time, and my daughter's hair type, followed by an instruction to book online. She also falsely claimed that she had asked me to come into the salon to talk and that I refused, and that she provided my daughter with hair products worth $36, which was not the case. My daughter has mixed hair that was washed and easy to cut prior to the appointment, and Yvonne did nothing but a simple even trim—nothing fancy. The price changed after I booked on StyleSeat, and I didn't realize it until I received a text about a $165.00 charge. $138 for a child's hair trim is still excessive. I feel robbed and will not be returning for any of her services. It is unacceptable and unprofessional for Yvonne to show up 20 minutes late to the appointment, overcharge for a haircut, and charge for services never given. As a single mother of three, I need transparency and clarity in service charges. I hope Yvonne takes this feedback seriously to improve her service. This was my first time booking on StyleSeat, and it was the worst experience. The pricing changed significantly after I booked, and additional charges were added on. As a single mother of three, I feel robbed and am extremely upset by her unprofessional responses and behavior. Communication, fair pricing, and honesty are crucial. Charging for services never given and claiming they were is unacceptable. A phone call to book an appointment is not a $24 consultation.
